Summer Series Dates For Ballymena

The NIMCC have announced their dates for the Summer series. The electric buggy class will run alongside their 8th scale nitro cars. The track for those that don't know is an all astro affair with a good mix of jumps thrown in. A lot of work has been done over the winter to get the track in great shape for this up-coming series. It is situated just behind the Ecos Centre in Ballymena, litteraly 2mins off the motorway. Please see below for the list of dates.....

12th May round1
9th June (RCCAOI)
16/17TH June (BRCA)
30th Jun round2
21st Jul round3
4th Aug round4
25th Aug round5
8th Sept round6

Please come along and enjoy some great racing at this fantastic track. The RCCAOI are holding a National round at the track on the 9th June this year as well as the second BRCA Regional on the 17th June, so this series will be an excellent oppertunity to get some practice in before hand. I was thinking we could maybe make it your best 4 from the 6 rounds. We can discuss things more with the guys from the NIMCC.

colmo 23-03-2012 12:27 AM

Don't forget they're also hosting the 2nd BRCA regional.

Who's planning on doing the first round on the 28th of April? I'm going but would prefer a few more. Would be great if at least 6 or 8 of us southerners could make the trip up and support the series. The facility is well worth the drive and even better if we get some car pooling going on!

Mugenextreme 04-04-2012 01:33 PM

I might head up, Nothing else on that weekend for me.

Is there clubman? or is it all modified?

Rayzerp 04-04-2012 08:43 PM

Thinking about heading up too......have the same question about clubman/modified.
What about tyre choice....same as Naul as it is astro?

I'm sure we will be able to run whatever classes we have numbers for. As for tyres schuey yellow when dry BB greens when damp and good luck if it's really wet!
Also track is big so mod doesn't feel as quick as indoors.

snige 04-04-2012 10:02 PM

Do ya have to become a member of the club to race

ian h 04-04-2012 10:08 PM

I think you can race up there 3 times before you have to join the BRCA for insurance purposes. That costs £16.

As Ian rightly said, you can race 3 times before you have to become a member of the BRCA, this is for insurance purposes. I'm not sure if your RCCAOI membership would cover you or not? I think the last time we all raced at Ballymena it cost £10 each. Please see the link below for BRCA membership details....

http://www.brca.org/?q=sections/subs...ess-2012/13540

Legacy555 05-04-2012 07:18 AM

Hi All,

Maybe the powers that be will correct me, but according to the BRCA handbook, "overseas" drivers are covered by the insurance as long as they are members of thier national association.

And, by "Overseas" I believe that they mean anyone from outside the BRCA's juristdiction.

So competitors from ROI would be covered to race. I don't think that they are limited to 3 events. However, just be aware that if you plan on scoring points at the BRCA regionals, you will have to be a BRCA member.

I think its only fair also that if you go to race in the series at NIMCC, that you at least join the club.

Will

h0m3sy 05-04-2012 04:25 PM

I recently spoke with Alan Scroggie of the NIMCC(Ballymena) about membership and fees etc.. This is what he had to say....

"From the AGM we decided to raise fees to keep inline with aghalee for non members to £15 although the membership not including brca is £17 for adults and £7 for juniors (30 and 20 including brca).

Race fees for members is £10 per class and members get championship points with non-members only getting points for the first 3 races they attend until joining."

Members from the south who are a member of the RCCAOI need not apply for BRCA membership. It would however be worth joining the Ballymena club if you plan on competing in this series. There is more track work planned for this month before the opening round. I'm not expecting anyone from the South to travel up to help but perhaps some of the drivers from up here in the North could lend a hand. I will post the dates for track work on here when I get them.

From Northern Ireland section, change to the plans for this Saturday in ballymena:

"Due to some issues with last weeks workparty we have to finish off some of the work this weekend and so the first round of the summer series has been changed to a work party in the morning with open practice or racing in the afternoon depending on numbers and what people want to do...."

h0m3sy 01-05-2012 08:03 AM

The track work is complete for now guys, the back straight is now bowling green flat. Last week was due to be round one but is now put back due to the great work done by the guys of the NIMCC. A new updated race calender will be publisheed soon.

Legacy555 01-05-2012 08:27 AM
