Long shot looking for big rims for a mini t!!

Hi everyone, at my local club we run an odd balls race and i have been messing around with my mini t, im hoping some body could help me. Im looking for either a converter of some type so i can run buggy wheels or some over sized wheels that will take buggy tires. We run outdoors on a full grass track so the standard sized wheels just dont cut it.
Any help is much appreciated. :D

We have several of the Trinity "Monster" sized wheel and tyres still in stock for the Mini T if any use? They fit straight on and are about 1.5 to 2 times the size of the originals.....

Trinity monster

Have you got a part number for the monster tyres/wheels.Cant find them on your site.

Do they bolt on like normal wheels without the need for 1/10th adapters.

cheers.

Edit found them on dms are they pre glued? Do they need foam inserts?

Thanks. for the info.

Hi,

They bolt straight on to a standard truck, no need for any adaptors etc.

They offer the tyres in pre-glued and non pre-glued, we only have a selction of each left in stock now

Those that need them all come with inserts, some of the harder tyres dont require any though

Hope that helps

bandyleg 22-03-2012 07:15 PM

Hi they sound good i will have a look, Do you know off the top of your head if they will accept standard 1/10th buggy tires? I know im asking a lot :D

Darren Boyle 22-03-2012 07:39 PM

No they wont, they are smaller than that size plus they come with tyres already mounted to the wheels....

bandyleg 24-03-2012 05:29 PM

Had a look at the wheels this morning, they are still not big enough for what im after. 2.2 inch is the kind of size im looking for i dont mind having to buy hex adapters for the rear.

jtheg 24-03-2012 08:51 PM

delrin adapters

You could buy the delrin adapters and use some 12mm hex buggy wheels. The adapters fit ok ish on the back but not too good on the front.

Heres my mini t with 12mm hex touring car wheels.

That is very very tasty!! I wont upload pics of mine yet as im still in the process of building my dream lol

The extended chassis must work wonders on yours, I had mine out in the oddballs today running a full stick pack of nimh 3300  couldnt keep the front end on the floor. The pack has been reconfigured to fit in the truck and its quite quick.

The wheels on yours still aint big enough for what im after they just wont cut it where we run, www.southlakesmodelcarclub.co.uk if your interested there will be some pics up of todays track, The tiny wheels just aint enough. I am very very determined to get 1/10th buggy wheels on it there has to be a way!!

jtheg 25-03-2012 07:21 PM

Yes the slider chassis helps a lot but keeping the frontend down as you say is very difficult especially on 3S!!

1600mah lipo lasts forever in these:thumbsup:

There's got to be a way of getting 1/10th wheels on there but the shafts are gonna be taking a hammering, you might have to get some titanium swing shafts just to take th strain!!!

bandyleg 25-03-2012 09:06 PM

Lol sound like you have had some fun with yours.
A guy at my club come up with a good idea today using an old wheel adapter type thing off of a losi xxx front wheel not the hub but it has a hex drive on a aluminium tube that runs through the hub! (cant remember what they are called) cut the tube down and then create a slot for the drive pin and hey presto this should work, I just dont think they will hold up to the strain and i will also have to drill the axles to hold a larger pin maybe....

jtheg 26-03-2012 07:42 AM

Yeah with a larger pin you are gonna be taking a lot of material out of the shaft and theres not a lot there as is!!

Send us some pics of the losi xxx shaft sounds interesting

bandyleg 26-03-2012 06:09 PM

Ive found a temp fix to my problem but its far from ideal although it does have one or 2 benefits i will upload a pic later on tonight and i will see if i can find a pic of the xxx part

Ok so this is my mini t. Not at the minute this is just an idea, i have test driven it around the car park just to see what it was like. the camber is out from crash damage previously done this will be repaired its just a bent buckle.

jtheg 27-03-2012 12:01 PM

Absolute madness!!

Have you put your mini t wheels inside the 10th wheels??

Madness I tells you.

bandyleg 27-03-2012 06:05 PM

Yep good guess lol, Im gonna have a lot of issues with gearing as after only a couple of minutes run time with almost flat batterys 3300 nimh :D the motor was really hot so i will have to have a play around with it.

It now drives flat out on long ish grass tho so will be good for the outdoor odd balls lol

jtheg 28-03-2012 07:29 AM

I bet it gets warm!! But the right size pinion should sort that:lol: or a fan!

How did you fix the wheels together and align them straight???

bandyleg 28-03-2012 05:15 PM

I havnt fixed the wheels yet! they stay in place as they are but if you bounce flip or roll they push sideways, The reason i havnt fixed them is as you questioned..... Getting them straight.

Im just looking into other ideas to mount them and also a errrrrr 540 Brushless if i can make the motor plate and space to fit :D

jtheg 29-03-2012 08:22 PM

540 size!

Bloody hell a 540 at the back and it will wheelie without moving!!!

They weigh a ton compare to whats in there now:lol:

bandyleg 29-03-2012 10:07 PM

Ha ha ha yes thats very true i may have to extend the chassis a bit but hey what are toys for?
Im off work for a few days now so going to work on a new motor mount for it and maybe a way of fitting a larger spur gear maybe something like a 78 help the gearing a little lol its a all fun and games

jtheg 30-03-2012 06:49 AM

videos and pic

Dont forget voideos and pictures:thumbsup:

bandyleg 30-03-2012 12:25 PM

Haha yeh i should also maybe change the title of this thread too! Its a bit of a working progress so it will take me a short while but it will be done lol

bandyleg 31-03-2012 10:30 AM

well its in! :D
I am just waiting on the arrival of a couple of new spur gears as this as the standard 60 is just way too small so no vids just yet. I am also still struggling with my wheel fitment as the previous option just wont do!!

jtheg 31-03-2012 04:58 PM

Man that motor looks huge in there:thumbsup:

bandyleg 31-03-2012 06:06 PM

Ha ha u should see the cells!! im gonna have to re jig everything around to get a full 6 pack in lol plus the huge speedo and receiver lol

bandyleg 02-04-2012 12:12 PM

2 Attachment(s)
Ok so the batterys are in, I have re built the pack so it sits quite well over the front helping to keep it down. I have also managed to squeeeeeeze the speedo and receiver into it! Dont mind the wiring im waiting on some new connectors to arrive before i tidy them up they are too short and stubborn to be soildering lol The wheels have been glued and just pressed onto a flat surface to hold them in place whilst the adhesive set nothing more technical then that. Like i say the wheels are only a temp until i can find or make a better fit.

jtheg 02-04-2012 07:45 PM

Bonkers! absolute bonkers, get a vid up man that is gonna be awesome:thumbsup:

bandyleg 02-04-2012 08:11 PM

Haha I'm not sure about bids just yet as I havnt had chance to run it due to the small lack of parts. I'm gonna be very impressed if it doesn't self destruct lol but as soon as it's ready I'll get you a vid I promise (as long as it doesn't explode) :D

jtheg 05-04-2012 06:53 AM

Oh the wait! What parts you missing?

jtheg 05-04-2012 08:33 AM

jtheg 06-04-2012 07:09 AM

I couldnt find the wheels anywhere either. They got to be out there somewhere!

bandyleg 08-04-2012 03:44 PM

im having a look at some wheels tomorrow off a nitro truck on a 12mm hex so fingers crossed its

bandyleg 13-04-2012 06:47 PM

Bits arrived the other day and i managed to find time to put it together!! and take it for a quick test run.
Had one or two teething problems but after a couple of steady runs i shot the video, the slipper is very loose as i didnt want to destroy the gearbox just yet

jtheg 16-04-2012 06:45 PM

Cool video mate. Looks very stable compared to my 'normal' one:)
Time to open the taps and get some power through:thumbsup:

Had mine out on the beach all weekend running flat out awesome!

bandyleg 16-04-2012 06:58 PM

Ha ha ha i need to make an anti wheelie bar lol i nipped up the slipper just after that run and it just lifts the front end for fun its awesome. The beach!! wow your brave all that salt and sand :woot: i will get a decent video in a few weeks im gonna be busy for a while now but as soon as i get the bar made and a couple more tweeks i will put some pace on it!
