Friday 2nd March Racing

who`s playing vintage this week then

peetbee 26-02-2012 11:36 PM

Meeeeeeee! Have some tyres sorted now, still no oil in the shocks, but hey, you can't have everything!

Don't forget, for everyone looking to run vintage, make sure you have your modern car with you in case the numbers don't work in our favour!

Just to let everyone know, as we have the micro national on Sunday we may have a few more people visiting the club to get some practice in (maybe) so the more the merrier :)

So who's getting the keys this week? :woot:

Dyna 27-02-2012 12:41 AM

Errrmmm any chance we could postpone this Vintage round 'till next week?

I've got this 2wd micro-thingy to race in the National at the weekend, i suppose i had better do at least one practice night with it... and im not good at doing 2 different classes in one night

brian s 27-02-2012 11:27 AM

looks likely vintage may be postponed again then due to lack of participants.

Booo
(yes I know I'm guilty of not racing vintage too!)
I know Phil was hoping to run, and Dave Jackson has got his Cougar nearly ready to go.
Chris was running his boring car yesterday so don't know if he was planning on swapping the electrics back into his RC10 or not

Dont worry, this is a one-off ! Name another date for the Vintage and the Astute will be there !

But for the sake of my pride and the other competitors i should really have at least one practice with the Chunk before i race a National...

On another note, i ran at Telford Hot Trax last week ( great club ), and i got Steve Haynes ( ex-Tamiya Factory driver late 80s/early 90's ) to run my TRF Astute for a round... first time he had run an Astute in 20 years, and he seemed to have enjoyed himself with it - he was quick with it as well :)

So now its been run by a 'proper' driver, hopefully some of Steves skill will have been absorbed by the car and i might have a better chance of keeping up with Martin next round.. or maybe not..

brian s 27-02-2012 02:53 PM

whats the minimum required to run a vintage heat friday then, for those of us who dont race micro .

peetbee 27-02-2012 03:33 PM

Really for any class we need to have 6 drivers in it to make marshalling work, we could always drop a couple of willing modern cars in there to make numbers up again, but it didn't seem that popular last time.

Just bring modern cars as well in case there's only 3 of us, or shall we just postpone it for a week?

Belsten 27-02-2012 05:45 PM

I'll be there, no vintage though

Caine 27-02-2012 06:35 PM

I will definatley be there on friday, but wont be able to do vintage next week only the week after. Just how it works with my girlfriends shift pattern i'm afraid:(

Chris-DC5 27-02-2012 06:52 PM

I will try to get there this week. Hope to swap a shift.

I cant get enough og the C4.1, Love it. :D

brian s 27-02-2012 07:08 PM

well for vintage, that possibly means we could have :-
brian
martyn
phil
pete
si
dave
paul
maybe chris if he puts his electrics back in his rc10
which is enough to marshal the next heat

acorn28 27-02-2012 07:40 PM

I'll be there, probably 2wd again this week, especially after the great racing I had last Friday. Can't wait.

peetbee 27-02-2012 08:16 PM

vintage should be ok then :)

who's getting the keys then? I should be able to get there for 6.30

brian s 28-02-2012 03:57 PM

have spoken to paul and he also wants to concentrate on his micro on friday so not doing vintage.
so that possibly leaves
brian
martyn
phil
pete
si
dave
maybe chris if he puts his electrics back in his rc10

chris-on-wheels 28-02-2012 04:56 PM

well I've got the RC10 going. but I've got a slow servo in it and its not centering. and I can't find the gear guard at the moment. So I'll be doing vintage.

hit5005 28-02-2012 06:35 PM

micro for me

brian s 28-02-2012 08:22 PM

get some oil in those shocks pete, looks like we have a vintage round

peetbee 28-02-2012 08:51 PM

No Si this week and Dave isn't 100% that he'll make it either :(

chris-on-wheels 29-02-2012 11:51 AM

Cheers Bri but i've now found the RC10 Gear Cover. But the steering is BAD

peetbee 29-02-2012 11:54 AM

Bring it along Chris and we'll see what we can sort for you

brian s 29-02-2012 10:43 PM

chris`s rc10 all fixed and ready to roll  old skool rules.

mrspeedy 29-02-2012 11:03 PM

brian s 01-03-2012 08:34 PM

jaffacake 01-03-2012 09:17 PM

Is vintage running tomorrow?

brian s 01-03-2012 09:25 PM

peetbee 01-03-2012 11:09 PM

vintage is a go go then!

thanks Phil, will have money for you!

axeman 02-03-2012 07:41 AM

pete are you going to limit the classes people can run???

last vintage night was are mare with 4min heats all night. my car didn't roll till after 9pm.

Balders 02-03-2012 09:38 AM

Don't worry Steve, we should get lots in tonight.

Matt and I hope to get there early enough to chuck a track down and tonight is special because we don't have to clear away at the end of the night due to the National on Sunday.

blue_pinky 02-03-2012 10:19 AM

Last vintage was a bit of a shocker...didn't get set up too early, then tons of people turned up and booking in took ages, it all conspired against us that particular week so we didn't get started til after 8...the 4 minute qualifiers were a last resort desperate measure to keep the masses and neighbours (mostly) happy!!!

We've set a new start time target for every week as a result...we now aim to be racing by 7:30pm each week...so we should be able to cope with 7 heats if that's what turns up and still get 4 rounds of racing in.

Then if less turn up we get even more racing in instead. :D

And as Mike says, tonight is a bit 'special' as we can race right up to finish as it's not being packed down

Also as a result of that week and our general busy'ness these days, the national is allowing us to build up some pre built track features so that should help me and anyone else who builds the tracks to build better tracks and features faster each week, making setup (and pack down) that little bit less hectic to hopefully.

peetbee 02-03-2012 10:30 AM

Echo what Balders and Andy hjave said for this week, but as an aside, yes if it is busy we will potentially limit what classes people run regardless of whether there is vintage or not!

TBH even if last vintage hadn't run then it wouldn't have made any difference to the number of heats we had as it was freakishly busy that week (ie everyone running vintage wasn't running modern that week, if they'd run modern instead then it would still have been enough for an extra heat, hope that all makes sense!)
