CML Associated take York 24h endurance race
The 2012 York 'EBOR 24' - 24 hour endurance race took place this weekend at the York Off Road Car Club's indoor venue. Seven teams took part with drivers coming from all over the UK - including a full team of Scottish drivers. After a few early problems and plenty of electrical changes later - the eventual winners by quite a long way were team CML / AE - running the 4WD Associated B44.1 buggy. The CML team's combination of 4WD and a ton of talented drivers meant they really wen't going to be touched despite early pressure and the aforementioned electrical problems - so the fight was on for second. Coming into the final few hours it was between the 2WD buggies of the Rossmod/Durango team, and team BudsBalls. Team BudsBalls were almost exclusively running their #1 driver, Nathan Ralls, to attempt to close the gap on Rossmod/Durango. A stripped Servo horn for the team dropped them back - and fixing the car with another stripped horn wasn't the best idea so in they came again. With half an hour to go and Nathan Ralls finally off the rostrum - it was clear that Rossmod-Durango weren't going to be caught and they held a lead of around 30 laps till the end to take second. http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/misc/news/24h1.jpg Above: Rossmod / Durango team were second overall, and top 2WD car Above: The top 2WD car of 2nd place team, Rossmod Durango The final results were as follows: 1st CML Associated - 3970 laps - Associated B44.1Thanks to the organisers - roll on the next event! |
What a great event to attend! I very much enjoyed myself.
Congratulations to the winners CML AE!!! I was surprised to see that this was a proper race, yes for 24 hours, these teams we NOT playing games and raced every lap for every position!!! I recommend attending this race next year!!! Also congrats to Ross mod/Durango team on their victory! You fought hard and had good tactics and had great reliability which helped you win!!! But you didn't have to get Jimmy to say we only used Nathan to try and defend why you only beat us by 30 laps!!!:p BUDSBALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for a great event and a great meeting I will definitely be back next year!!! |
Team Budsballs.

WELL DONE GUYS! THANKS TO YORK CLUB FOR A FANTASTIC JOB, AND WE WILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR TO CLAIM OUR TITLE <font size="20">"BUDSBALLS - OHHH' YEA" </font> |

Looks tiring but fun! Is there scope for more teams next year?
|
Thanks york for such a great event:thumbsup:
I really enjoyed this :thumbsup:it was a great experience for me cheers for having me on the team Buds. I especially enjoyed the comradery between our lads in the team and have made some new friends Although I am absolutely knackered this morning after driving more in 24 hours than I probably do in a year the early morning shift was ace racing in between Nathan:) was a shame we did in two servo horns which cost us 2nd place but rossmod deserved it more I think Damion and Chris will sleep for a week after the effort those two put in well done lads:thumbsup: WELL DONE to all the teams that took part and made this event awsome |
What a fantastic event! This was my first time at the York 24 hour, I'll defiantly be there again next year. Thanks to all our team, your all a great bunch of guys, and you all raced fantasticly. I was gutted that the servo horn went during my stint.
Well done Ross mods, you guys deserved the win. I cant believe how close we were all the way through. And I still cant believe how tough these cars are!! Over a years worth of racing in one go, and we only broke 2 servo horns! Amazing! |
It was a great race between the two teams, I will not hide the passion I have for this sport which resulted in me kicking the rostrums head in when I was trying to defend our lead against Nathan!
It was a shame about the servo horn in the end because it was building up into a nail biting finish. Me and Stu were finished so we decided to go with our freshest drivers who had managed to get a bit of sleep, but you could see from our pace at the end we were just trying to keep the car in one piece and get to the end. All good stuff! Bring on next year! |
You should have brought me out again - I was on for TQ pace!
|
I MISSSED THIS AGAIN!!!
AHHH MAN!!!!! :(:(:(:(:(:( |

The 24 hour race didn't do the front diff out drives on my 410R much good.....

we were amazed by our outdrives on the B4 they hardly looked worn if it was not for our school boy error of not setting the end points for the servo on the sticks we would have had no issues at all :)even the diff was not to bad BUDS BALLS have been well and truley race proven:thumbsup:

I can't stress enough how much I enjoyed the event it's was ace we was a little ill prepared for the event we should of call ourselves team on a wing and a prayer not buds balls. Only half our team had f grades.
The little b4.1 which was built out of spares and left overs from a c4.1 and the electrics were just off my mate who gave up racing . The motor was £13 off eBay tisher supplied that. We had no plan of attack for the event what so ever and to come 3rd behind cml and Ross mods was far better than I ever expected to do. So really well done team buds balls you all did absolutely brilliant as did all the teams at the event.so thanks to all involved in making this event possible it was truly awesome I'll be back next year for sure hopefully a bit better organised. So Ross mods we will reignite the battle next year well done lads great team work ( gutted about missing Damian kicking the rostrum I'd have give him some pain over that):p Buds |
Maybe next year the AE boys will run a 2wd so we can get a good comparison on speed.
|
I think we would hammer them boss!
|
Remember when we ran 4wd the first Ebor 24, them lads ran 2wd.
They beat us. |
I think if we cut the plugs of there chargers we could win easy!
|
well done team MORLEY MODELS, after a great start with chalky pulling the holeshot  it all went pete tong at the very first pit stop when the brand new electrics and motor gave up the ghost.
emergency surgery by doctor bob got the show back on the road but starting on the back foot was never going to help. anyway well done and good effort by all team members and just to clarify a mistake by jimmy, the car that MORLEY MODELS were using was a CASTER S10B, it made it to the end completing what works out to about 195 FIVE MIN HEATS in 24 hours, well done. |
