future of bury metro.....

after talkin 2 roger n woody at length about the track n club i thought i'd stop all the speculation by posting this........

roger, and woody DO NOT want the track 2 shut! they are both prepared 2 carry on runnin the club n arrangin events for all 2 enjoy.

BUT..... its not just about them, its about us 'the members' aswell, and the support n input that we put in2 it. if we dont turn up on race days, and/or track maintainance days.... why the f$*k shud they????????????

its ok cumin on here postin this thread n that thread, but where are u all wen it cums down to it? the proof is in the puddin boys!

the 1st meetin is sunday 6th april so lets c who turns up n who doesnt?

4 all who will be there i will b takin a list of all that can cum down 2 the track in the next couple of weeks 2 iron out the complaints that r heard regardin the track so frequently.....

hope 2 c u all on the 6th at the track............................................

stuhurley 22-03-2008 07:12 AM

ill be there definatly (weather permitting ) ,, anyone gonna be racing micro 1/18th scale cars e.g ftx blaze?? ,,think my mate wants to have a go with his brushless blaze.....

Lee 26-03-2008 09:12 AM

I dont really think 18th scale are really suitable for bury, i dont think they have ever been raced there, they may get lost in the grass:eh?:

rallymadryan 26-03-2008 09:19 AM

they are good there ,, it says on the website that if you have one of these cars listed (the blaze is there) you race free , roger says that if enough turn up then they will race .... they just dont like the jumps really , there kinda hard to avoid tho .....

Lee 26-03-2008 09:23 AM

Ok i didnt know that, i imagine they would be a handful round there, have fun though:drool:

rallymadryan 26-03-2008 09:28 AM

not so much a handfull it just does'nt jump like any 1/10th scale car ...

rallymadryan 26-03-2008 09:32 AM

Chrislong 26-03-2008 09:35 AM

Just slow down for the jumps. They'll be okay on the astro I guess.

rallymadryan 26-03-2008 09:43 AM

the car is actually very good on the track , mine is anyway , i havent seen the brushless one go yet as he is waiting on some batteries for it ......

Lee 26-03-2008 09:53 AM

I might come down and have a run, depends on weather and where else is racing.

rallymadryan 26-03-2008 09:55 AM

The club IS about to close! The club has asked why people dont come and we have tried to listen and tried to start and change things. Still people dont come. Its heart breaking that there is a great venue and nobody turns up. We only have about 8 members? Whats that all about? I as the Chairman is giving it till winter then if things have not changed then I am going to close the doors on one of the oldest clubs in RC history.

footey 13-07-2008 02:04 PM

woody sorry to hear about shame the club isnt abit closer for me as id be there all the time shame im on the east coast:(

vinny20 13-07-2008 04:04 PM

Ok ill try my best to get there

woOdy 13-07-2008 04:12 PM

cheers vinny. over the next 2 weeks though it is going to be very quit due to the 1/8th Nat and the Southport Nat.

losichris 13-07-2008 04:51 PM

ill be racing again soon hopefully.
problem is the only club i can race at is bury metro so i dont see the point in forking out hundreds of pounds on new cells and new electrics if know1 turns up.
the only way i can see ppl turning up is to do alternative weekends with southport and even batley.
just for the fact that drivers are travelling there.or even extend the nw regional series to more than 3 rounds a year and have less club meetings.that mite entise people to come and practice.

Jonathan 13-07-2008 07:09 PM

Im new this year to the club, and I guess one of the 8 members !

Losichris's suggestion is interesting. Would this go down like a lead ballon at Southport ? Would the Southport regulars make the trip, basically there are no Bury regulars to return the favour ?

Maybee just a reduced Bury schedule, specifically tailored to avoid other events ?

burgie 13-07-2008 07:24 PM

I would suggest that Southport WILL NOT alter the calendar to run every other weekend. We run a weekly calendar, we have done for years and we won't be changing that in the future, UNLESS our club members request that to be the case.

Don't mean to sound harsh here, but we run Southport Radio Car Club for the members of Southport Radio Car Club, if they want to race weekly at Southport, then that's what we will cater for.

craigosh 13-07-2008 07:55 PM

Dont know what people think to this but how about running on say a wednesday or thursday night for normal club races? Might be a good way to get more people there! I'd probably be able to come on one of those nights, maybe not every week.

andy05 13-07-2008 08:28 PM

Id be intersested in mid week racing. Friday nights always used to be popular at leigh years ago. What do people think about fridays?

I did try and start racing on a wed night but no body turned up. Right now I will do what ever you lot want. If you want to race then I will be there. If you want a new track then I will make that happen. Regards alternate dates with the likes of Southport/Batley I think this is a bad idea. Just tell me what to do?

vinny20 13-07-2008 09:32 PM

Cant wait to get to bury thanks anyway woody for what your doing for us

And i second burgie

since some bad ass vandals (properly penzo) burnt the sports hall down and some of the facility's where taken in that selfish act, then that may of made it less likely to attract new members and retain others.
It would be a shame for bury to close for the region and it members.

ashleyb4 13-07-2008 11:45 PM

Its difficult for all clubs your best bet is to try and appeal to the younger generation.

A

Kash 14-07-2008 07:57 AM

I can't believe that you are only getting 8 members turning up...:o

It's a great venue that many clubs aim/wish to have

racingdwarf 14-07-2008 08:23 AM

It can be hard to get younger racers,It's not that the kids don't want to do it, We find parents don't want to spend the time at the track when they are racing, also the cost puts them off a bit. Also when the membership starts to fade and you only get 8 or so people to a meeting it's hard to get some good races going, then people start to say whats the point of spending money on rc stuff get fed up and leave.

We have the same prob in norfolk.........best of luck bury:(
