Why ??
How come Durango is so behind when it comes to sparepart stock ?
This is driving me away from the brand, i've race for may years ago, and back in the days, if a brand could not deliver spares for their product, people simply walked away from the brand. I love my 410, i've run the HB D4WCE for 1 season, and had to cancel the car due to lack of sparepart availabilllity, so i bought the Durango, and at the moment wonder if i should wait with a 4wd til TLR releases their new one, because i hate inch screws, so no B44 for me. the Tamiya 511, and my TLR XX4WCE i am afraid the belt system will break. So anyone with insight to Durango, they need to look closer into the spare and what they call hop-ups parts. |
what spares are you needing?
in my own personal experience I haven't needed any spares. in 13 months of racing I've replaced 2 wishbones and a shock tower. Both I've never seen out of stock... The only other parts I've replaced are driveshafts which have worn out. |

For my DESC410 it's very dificulty to buye spares for my personal stock Is a shame to the Team Durango, I know many people in Portugal with the cars stopped for lack of material I have two team durango and when you have to stop for not having material to repair the cars will have to change brands, many people like me start to think the same |
Where is the problem?
Change and have fun. Next TLR will have no inch screws. |
As I understand it, with the DEX210 and 410 V3 demand for new kits is so high Durango's factory is working full time churning kits out, and hasn't had time to make spare parts.
Whilst thats frustrating if you own and broke one, its understandable from Durango's point of view. New kit sales are more important, and if they don't supply people will get something else. |
Thought i read some were the durango gets made in a factory the also makes 3-4 other brands (kingstar ?) so has to share production time, not sure if thats 100% true.
I also think the popularity of the dex410 was much more than expected causing a shortage in parts as well as kits. Biggest pain to me is my kit has parts missing and faulty parts straight from the factory. contacted durango its been nearly a month and still no parts as they dont have stock  |
Lets just hope things get better I'm sure they will have things sorted shortly, Fingers crossed

then we can say the kuhler body, how made can be made in just 1 working day in a factory, or are they sitting in a kitchen making them one by one ? the HD ballcups.. same as the kuhler body, how many can be produced in just 1 day ? lots of the screws going into the chassies. Thats just for starters, but as you directly saw in the other comments, it is NOT just me who believes this is a great shame for Durango that they do not sort this. I have not seen any other car that is so raw and powerfull as the durango, but i need the spares, i am not a gentle driver, i know that, i even broke the rear gear box holder, due to too much raw power :) Lets hope they sort this before the summer season begins, as i am beginning to look at the DEX210 instead of my TLR 22. |

Same problem here in germany. Our distributor only has about a handfull of parts in stock. Kits are most of the time on back order and its seems that he gets only 4 or 5 at once.
For the DEX210 are also no parts available. Not even springs or the new gear diff... But even more strange and/or funny is the fact that a hobbyshop run by Gerd Strenge himself has almost no parts in stock. All in all no wonder that hobbico bought them. After designer Michael Vollmer left and the "managment" of durango is not able to secure the production and availabilty of parts... |
I am having big issues with parts support here in the states as well. Two of my buddies gave up on their Rangos. I have to rely on outside fixes for my 210, and my 410 I pray I don't break anything, although parts are trickling in for the 410.
210 key parts: gear cover, gearbox, new batch of HD ball cups, Diff ring, Hub knuckle set (use to get now hard to find). Bodies?...... Anyway I know some Durango guys come on here now and then, I wish I could get their insight. |
In Spain, the same problem with Durango distribuitor. No spares in stock.
|
Similar situation for me. Been running a 410 since last summer with zero broken parts. Just a drive shaft change due to wear. In that time I've built up an extensive amount of spares and haven't struggled to find stock.
I'm now running a 210 and essential bits such as towers and arms seem to be in good stock in the UK. I'm confident that all the parts I'd need to keep the car racing are available. Quote:

This is really not sounding to good for durango not sure if im doing the rite thing by having 1 plus waiting all this time is it worth it if I can't get spare, I'm bound to break it
|
I"ve found that breaking a Durango is very difficult. Hang on in there for that 410, you won't be disappointed.

I only see the problem the last few months where they've been putting out a few fairly big releases, like the DEX210. I had to wait for... about 4 months to get an original DEX210 wing because I drilled the wrong holes first time around (small problem I know, but it was pretty annoying nonetheless).
However, if it's in stock online, I don't see the problem. Stock the most important spares and the comsumables at home and make sure you know an (online) store where to get other spares when you think you might need them. With any car I'm driving I've always had trouble getting spares from the LHS, so nowadays I pretty much order online only: UK if I need things quickly, US for SC truck stuff  and HK for cheapness and if the orders can take a little longer to arrive... |
I can really understand how this situation is driving people away from the brand. I'm running a DEX210 myself and I really like how easy to control but super fast this car performs. But it's so annoying that you can't get any parts for these cars... I know, they're hard to break and I consider myself as a "clean" driver but anyway - we all know, sh*t happens and racing a car that has almost no parts support simply doesn't feel good. :bored:
Since I can get Schumacher Parts very easy (german distributor only a few minutes drive away), I guess the Cougar SV2 might be an adequate replacement for my DEX... Oh boy... |
I'd just like to be able to get the parts to improve my 410r beyond the kit standard.
things like the brass rear weight, the rear wheel hexes, aluminium servo horn, V3 body shell etc etc |

Sometimes takes half a dozen tries at various shops until i get one that is actually in stock......... but then, the saving over swedish prices can be worth it :D |
This is great planning by Durango the original 410 was highly successful, the 2010 again was more successful than the last and surprise surprise the V3 is also a great hit. All these are basically the same design with tweeks here and they are struggling to supply parts.
Obviously the stock of parts was depleting quick so what do you do? Parts sold over 3 years means they can quite easily forecast how many to stock and make to cover the period of developing and manufacturing of any new releases. How have they got it so wrong? Poor planning, simples. Unfortunately this will be my first and last Durango. I haven't broke anything yet and been stuck but I don't want to find myself in that situation. Team Durango haven't even apologised to the people waiting from what I gather or released a statement explaining themselves. Being a victim of your own siccess isnt an excuse! Congratulations, you have succeeded in upsetting people that don't have the new kits and at the same time alienating the current owners. Bravo.:thumbdown::thumbdown: |
I love my Durango's, they are very well built and the team/set up data, website etc are all top notch!
I do agree on your points about the kit delays, a victim of their own success. Hang in there if you have one on order, its worth the wait. As for spares, they dont really break, on my 410 I have not broken a single part in 3 years (racing every week), I'v worn things out! I havent had an issue with spares, MB have most of the parts I will ever need. http://www.rccarshop.co.uk/ |

http://rsb.se/gallery/files/1/5/4/durango_corner.jpg Now please tell me that they are not broken, all cars breake now and then, it just is so, i have now ordered a second 410R, so i can strip it into spares, this because i love the raw power the car has. |

Well anyone can break any car, but overall I have found the 410 to be a very strong car.
Thats a good effort ripping the front wheel off! :woot: Quite a few club members bought full fat 410's when they came out then bought a 410r for spares etc, a good way to get eveything you need. With the prices of the 410R second hand its a good option..... |

I ran my Durango 410r for 8 months racing on average once a week. In that time I broke a front shock tower and two rear wishbones. I wore out a few bearings and the driveshafts ended up having a lot of play in them but they still do the job. Anyone who has raced with me knows that my throttle finger is somewhat over exuberant, with the inevitable HARD crashes. On countless occasions I have watched my buggy barrelling down the track into the weeds only for it to be put back on its wheels and allow me to tear of to the next crash. I was fortunate enough to get one of the the last V3's and have been racing that using the 410r as a spares mule (only needed a rear wishbone hinge pin so far), I really cannot praise it enough. I have found the Durango quality at the price to be in a class of its own, hang on in there and you will not be disappointed, it is a great car that handles beautifully out of the box.
All hail the Durango |

Definitely worth the effort of shopping around. Klixx, where are you based, might be worth pooling resources/spares with other local durango drivers, much like everyone else does (got 6 or 7 DEX210s and 4 (?) DEX410s at our club. So spares are generally available (unless i crash into a wall more than three times)) |
Just thought it might be worth drawing non-uk residents attention to this......
http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92980 Makes life a lot easier as they seem to have rather a lot of spares in stock right now! Cheers Matt |

But i have desited to try and hang out for this summer too, and then review the situation again. |
I have never really struggled to find parts, I haven't broken heaps but most things are available although not all from the same place.
I buy locally first to support the LHS here then I look at the UK then US |
Hi guys,
Team Durango is still a very young company and we are working hard to improve the availability of our products. Demand has far outstripped supply on many products. We are working very hard with our suppliers to improve things, and the situation will get a lot better during 2012. |

So who has the following items on stock in one shop with reasonable shipping ? to the netherlands ( not a single durango shop in my country )
1 x TD310226 alloy wheel hex 14mm 4 x TD330023 alu shock seal cap 2 x TD330032 shock mount rear 1 x TD310257 210 gearbox and some rear springs I havent seen this in stock for many weeks. :( ( still loving durango ) |
Made interesting reading this thread!!
Although there is a long legacy when it comes to Durango, TD is still in it's infancy in respects to them trading as a company in the market place. Also with recent developments imagine there is a lot of work happening behind the scenes, like with any new aquisition. I've run a 410 for a couple of seasons, found the car bullet proof & majority of the spares I have bought & used were mainly used for maintenance. There are plenty of the essential spares out there for the 210 & 410 cars, shouldn't be a problem. |

I'm not knocking the car its great as it got me my F2 last season. If they stick by their word and every stockist can get the parts easy enough then I'll stick with Durango
I haven't broke anything, just wear and tear stuff, but I don't want to get caught out in the future. Thanks Durango for updating everyone, now it'll put my mind at ease. :D |

i have a full 410, no problems, wanted to buy a v3 just for the new kit and use the old one for backup, but absolutly no chance to get one here in germany. same with the 210; you got to preorder and pray to god not to be 5th on the list, because it seems our distributer gets 3-4 every batch thats reaches germany. exactly same story with dex408...some shops in UK restocked them...we did't evan had them once in stock:lol: i was in the ballpark of a 1:8 e-buggy but i have to be sure to get parts when i need them; i want to be sure that i can get them....so a mbx6 eco it is now. and i will drive my dex410 until she falls apart, but that was defenetly the last vehicle vom team durango. edit: a friend said team durango have to change from "serious about racing" to "serious about customer" ;) and thats true, the big names wich are all sponsered, dont feed you (TD) we who are paying for every little screw an part, we pay your bills ;) |
