Euros Thread

Hands up if your flight has been cancelled after sitting at the departure gate for 6.5 hours and you are stuck in a hotel and the euros is looking less and less likely.

Just me then ?

:(

Euros Page - Will be updated when possible

DCM 12-08-2006 08:56 PM

your joking!!! when u got to be there for Jim?

jimmy 12-08-2006 09:05 PM

Wish I was joking, at least its a nice hotel. Just worried about whether I'll even be going to the Euros at all now.

DCM 12-08-2006 09:18 PM

What was the reason for flight Delay Jim, security or just shear backlog?

RobHatcliffe 12-08-2006 09:39 PM

Are you at Manchester airport Jimmy? - I heard things were getting back to more like 'normal'

Northy 12-08-2006 09:42 PM

Jimmy, what a total twat! I'll drive you if I can have your place! ( only joking, wish I icould race).

G

PaulRotheram 12-08-2006 09:42 PM

unsure what jimmy is doing atm, but he said to me the airport told them there was a fault with the plane and they was getting an engineer from birmingham to come down :o

With a bit of ali sheet and a pop rivet gun? :o They're all patched up! :D

G

jimmy 12-08-2006 09:50 PM

Yeah something wrong with the plane aparently, really poor communication from the airline I have to say. Vicky is looking for other flights - gonna try get on an early flight tomorrow or see if KLM will put us on a BA direct flight (yeah, right, we can dream).

Hope glyn is looking after my gear! He'll be using the cameras if i cant go! haha:p

Yea rob, its manchester airport, were stuck here with sky high BOOZE prices too, if you feel like making an offie run for us, give me a shout! haha!!

PaulRotheram 12-08-2006 09:56 PM

just seems strange to me.. other racers have been cancelled at other airports, and been told they cannot be certain their planes will fly. and manchester say they are fixing a plane, using an engineer from birmingham.. whats wrong with the ones they have got?!

all this while tony blair is on holiday

hope its all sorted for you in the morning jimmy.

PaulRotheram 12-08-2006 10:04 PM

seems mcgee's plane is now cancelled too.. coincedence?

RobHatcliffe 12-08-2006 10:08 PM

Sorry Jimmy I'd love to perform an emergency booze drop for you but I'm on my 2nd bottle of Merlot already. Reckon my racing at Bury Metro could be a wee bit random tomorrow!

Seriously, I hope things get sorted for you and all the other euro bound racers.

DCM 12-08-2006 10:14 PM

just been reeding the beebs website http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4787733.stm and they are on about cancelling up to a third of Sundays flights to allow security checks to be carried out.

jimmy 12-08-2006 10:21 PM

nightmare! might be back in work monday then if stuff aint good tomorrow, i dont fancy turning up half way thru the euros.

DCM 12-08-2006 10:31 PM

you can always do the 4wd event I guess?? But think positive

DCM 13-08-2006 09:17 AM

Have Jim and Danny managed to get a flight yet??

MattW 13-08-2006 09:37 AM

Think Danny, Cree and Reevesey (who were flying together and sharing room) are on their way via Euro tunnel and a good ol road trip!

DCM 13-08-2006 10:05 AM

cool, thanks Matt

PaulRotheram 13-08-2006 07:14 PM

I'm assuming Jimmy n' Vicky have gone to the Euros as they said last night they would contact me if anything went wrong. I've heard nothing yet so its looking good for them.

Northy 13-08-2006 07:33 PM

Hope so too. Has the spoon made it?

G

PaulRotheram 13-08-2006 08:58 PM

I think I remember you saying greenwood has it? If so I saw him on web msn earlier, assume he's made it alive, along with the smuggled spoon :D

jimmy 13-08-2006 10:18 PM

I'm here I'm here. This keyboard is mad so forgive my lack of punctuation. Got a flight at 6am this morning after 4 hours sleep in our posh hotel, so, at least we're here. Got some photos of the track just as it was getting dark but can't upload them just yet :(

Track looks great but a bit wet, hopefully it'll be dry tomorrow.

*edit* Don't worry Jimmy, your friendly neighbourhood grammarator is here to save you any punctuation-related embarassment... ahem!

tc2k 13-08-2006 10:20 PM

Glad you're there safe and sound Jimmy. Get some good pics and hope you have a great few days there ;)

PaulRotheram 13-08-2006 10:56 PM

Here's the link to the Euros page:

http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/euros2006/

I'm glad you're there safe and sound Jim, hope you have a good time.

jimmy 13-08-2006 10:56 PM

The racing hasn't actually started yet... although I assume Dan got there! (all this travelling madness... I only got back from Gran Canaria at midnight... pfff!)

2wd practice day is tomorrow, qualifying on Tuesday and qualifying / finals on Wednesday.

4wd practice is Thursday, qualifying on Friday and qualifying / finals on Saturday.

Or at least I assume that's right...!

Dry and sunny here in Leicester, but wet in Vienna looking at one of the webcams :(

losixxx 14-08-2006 02:56 PM

Have you got a link for the webcams please?

OldTimer 14-08-2006 03:47 PM

http://www.wien.gv.at/english/webcam/ and goto the Johann Strauss Monument as you can see the ground and puddles.

http://live1.truelook.com/face/sqfac...640&height=480 This one is on the Danube Tower and you can move it about and zoom in etc

Anyone gone mad yet and ramped it?

Northy 14-08-2006 08:23 PM

PaulRotheram 14-08-2006 08:32 PM

Barry Williams 15-08-2006 11:04 AM

Does anyone know if the there is a live webcast anywhere?
The host club site says it is running a live webcast but have checked the site & it is not available!!!
Help!!

PaulRotheram 15-08-2006 12:03 PM

http://www.rmc-wien.at/ec2006/eurolive.htm

not a webcast.. but it is supplying results.

ignore the EFRA Electric Off Road 2wd Championship 2006 link as it is from the warm up.. not the current event.
