About time they did somthing, first car was dredfull in all but the best hands:woot:. it will have to be a vast improvement to regain most club drivers confidence in the car. I hope its better I loved the look of the cougar, indoors I liked it and a british firm:thumbsup:. but got fed up with the constant spend and I never had the hours needed to get it set up:bored:......

Most of the 4wds and touring cars use more or less the same layout, it appears we've arrived at a similar point in 2wd mid-motor development. Nothing wrong with that, that's how it goes. I will say this should be a very good car - Tom Cockerill was lightning quick with his prototype, though he had a Centro and Vega on his tail much of the way. Main concerns are the turnbuckles and diff, hope they sort those out. |
dont get me wrong , i think it will be a great car  and there are only so many lay outs you can find in a 2wd mid motor car. its all good !
|
Wait for the 22 version lmao :o:o
|
I've just got off the phone to Schumacher, estimated release date 2-3 weeks. RRP for the Pro kit £259.99, although our price will be £245.99.
As soon as I get a more accurate release date i'll let you know. |
The diff has been updated to HD, similar to the SX3 diffs. This should remove the majority of problems people had with the SV diff, as it did with the Sx2 > Sx3 diffs.
Gaz, I'd love to know which ideas we have copied, that haven't previously been tried by Schumacher. I'd also like to point out that as Schumacher are credited with making the ball diff, does that not mean every car that has one has copied Schumacher? |

At the end of the day the original concept of mid motor car wasnt it orginally started by Ellis and Kevin Lee? i do believe a few years ago kevin was running a modified XXX-CR that he made mid motor himself because i found Kevins original shell in my shed the other day and also remember Kevin running it at Stotfold. |
What were the old Cougar Chassis made out of........metal
The emergence of Mid Motor was around 2005/2006 from memory. |
FAB 2000? Based on a Cougar??
|
Fact allert - there are very few entirely new ideas / concepts that we see in model cars these days. Mid motor is a long way from new, first one I saw I think was a version of the Cougar 2, and that must have been somewhere around 1992/1993 ish - and that had an alloy chassis as well ;)
|
I believe this is the first side-by-side saddle mid-motor to be available as a kit, requiring neither a donor chassis nor dremel work.
I'm still calling it the Sventro though! Will there be some sort of S1 version? With the alloy chassis, there'd be less of a difference between the two, but handy to people wanting to upgrade their existing Cougar rather than sell the old one on. |

I think the design is great, if you notice there are a couple of holes to change the weight distribution or battery placement. for those who don't like it show some poise and don't turn this into another brand bashing....really boring

But cos I'm not very special I have to wait to get one with the masses. :( Maybe they'll send me one of the first release review kits if I promise to do a cheesey video?... hint hint... So yes, rcLazy have got some on order, and we'll do them for the same price as the lovely Telstar Matthew £245.99. I'll also agree on no definite release date! |

IIRC as stated already Fabixx did a cougar 2000 mid motor and i think they also did an RC10 tub chassis one its along time ago so i stand to be corrected

Don't think they were very popular off-road, as at the time UK tracks were mostly grass so I guess rear motor was better. But on-road (with foam tyres) and on carpet the Fab2000 was excellent, I remember Mike and a couple of others running them at Ashby back in the early 90s. So really, everyone copied Mad Mike and should thank him for the current layout, even though it's took 18 years to truly catch on  |
Wasn't the Tekin conversion for the RC10 before the Fab thing?
|
Tekin did indeed do a full mid motor conversion for the original RC10.
|
I've got one :)
|
i need the new motor plate and gear cover for a project that i'm working on...like now :)

And just to add, (yes i could be wrong) but wasnt the optima mid the first production mid motor car? |
optima mid was 4wd, one of my fav cars.
|
mid 4wd, what about the cat short wheel base, mini mustang or the hotshot? 2wd the hornet...motor was in front of the rear axel, not sure if that improved the handeling tho!
