Lee 16-03-2008 09:09 PM

It's not standard carbon.

Oliv996 17-03-2008 11:41 AM

Thanks Dan ! Would we have the opportunity to meet each other again, at the 2008 Kampenhout GP?

And yes the carbon fiber sheet I started from is a quite non-conventional one: something between twill and plain wave ;)

Stay tuned !

Olivier

Yes, looking forward to it. We're staying at the ETAP by the Formule 1 so we can go to the same bar :)

Southwell 17-03-2008 01:06 PM

5 cell hey, interesting..

ryan 17-03-2008 01:10 PM

Would it be possible to fit a 6th cell in?

Looks like room in it, but the chassis would need a 6th slot in it.

ryan 17-03-2008 01:15 PM

Dremel:woot:

SHY 17-03-2008 01:28 PM

Olivier, you never stop to amaze me!

I think we must name you King Midas! Since everything you touch seems to turn into gold!

Congratulations with a very well designed and beautiful site! Do you do all the graphics work yourself?

When can I order the parts?

And I can't wait to see the new bodyshell...

PS. 6 cells is sooo last year! Even the year before that... 5 cells is the real deal!

Gayo 17-03-2008 02:07 PM

Haha, SHY, we knew from day one that you would be the first to buy anything from Olivier !

I can answer a few questions :

- Yes you can use 6 cells, but some Dremel time is required. I don't know yet for myself if I will go for 5 cells or stay "straight" :D
- web design is made by Antoine Rossetti, actual french 4WD champion
- Ordering : I will let Olivier answer here, it's his baby after all !

rusti 17-03-2008 02:10 PM

Hi,

Olivier it's my example. Un ouf dans sa tête !

SHY, the web site, it's me :D

When I had my MiD44 Oliv'? :wub

As you might noticed, my first prototype is 5 cells chassis with possible conversion to 6 cells. The definitive chassis set could be as follow :

This 6 cells version is design so that it could easy receive either B44 or Tateego (Team-Azarashi) body shells.

Yeah, Olivier is totally amazing!!
The job is really awesome.
Now waiting for ours.... :)

Mike Hudson 17-03-2008 03:10 PM

I really want to see this back to back with a standard B44, looks really awsome, one fine job:thumbsup: the top decks on the standard B44 have known to break easy around the ball stud area though, a little more material round the ball stud area would take away one of the well known breakages:thumbsup:

Gayo 17-03-2008 03:33 PM

Olivier already adressed this.

Olivier

I guess the D4 shell will fit too? I haven't built my B44 yet. I bought a D4 shell as well, I presumed it would fit (since the D4 looks very similar)... I like the shape and those shark gills it has"! Very Ferrari style!

As to 5 vs. 6 cells: How about "almost" slotting out the hole for the 6th cell, just leaving 4x "tabs" that hold it in place. Would be strong enough with 5 cells, yet very easy to remove if you wanna race with 6... Not all people are to be considered stable with a Dremel in their hands

Olivier, if you can establish a bank account for me, then I can make sure there's always some $ on it, and you can just keep shipping all those marvelous mods to me OK? :D Oh la la!

There's one thing I often wonder about - what do you guys do for a living? Jimmy surely must be a graphics designer? Antoine is so too? Olivier, you are an engineer? Raphael?

Myself I'm educated as a master in science of business, worked in sales/marketing for a few years. Now I work as an IT systems engineer (that difficult "Admin" person I'm sure you all have at work :D)

What he said !

The distance between holes has been increased on main axis by 1.5mm

Yes, I like it too. It should fit, we will test it ASAP

Maybe it will have 6 slots directly. Olivier ?

I write sub-titles for the deaf people on the french TV. Rather uncommon I'd guess

I will consider your 6th "hidden" slot idea as a very good improvement for the next design ;)

A bank account in Switzerland would be nice in fact...... lol !

As you've guested, I'm engineer: R&D engineer developing test instruments for fiber optic networks, components and so on....

:D:D:D:D:D

SHY 18-03-2008 09:29 AM

I suspect Chazz to sleep with a Dremel under his pillow! And I'm quite sure he shaves with the cutting disk or sanding drum (what's best?)... :D Maybe he and Olivier could buy themselves a gun holster and carry their beloved Dremel with them  This reminds me... I've been thinking about starting a tread called "My favorite tool"!

@Raphael: Wow! All my friends do that! Or maybe not... very unusual work & very meaningful!

And Antonio is the famous rock star surrounded by hotties at all times?

ashleyb4 18-03-2008 09:49 AM

wow nice car must be a major improvment over the b44 handelling.

A

Wives spoil all the fun:woot:

SHY 18-03-2008 11:27 AM

LOL! There was a guy on an HiFi forum here in Norway that was discussing which VERY expensive new stereo to buy... after many posts he obviously left the room... with the PC on and the forum still open... his wife wrote "Dear husband, I really can't recall us discussing buying an insanely expensive stereo. Furthermore I now really cannot understand how you claim that we don't have enough money to buy a new washing machine!"

There were many many many funny comments after that... but none from the busted sucker...:lol::lol: Be discreet people!!!

PredaTom 18-03-2008 11:46 AM

 LOL!! Excellent!

LOL! Yup, just rape'em!!! :woot: Raping cars is my favorite pasatiempo, whether it's 1:1 or smaller is just details... you should see me karting! People have asked me if I'm angry or what  ... works for me! Except the time when I blew up the engine in my turbocharged Saab... :eh?:

We were actually practising today! Approx 0 degrees, but still big fun! It's not easy with a front one-way when the ground is more or lezz frozen :D

Building the B44 now... it's a very nice build indeed!
