Did you get your BRCA renewal in the post?

Question for all the individual BRCA members on the board... did you get your renewal form through the post as promised?

I didn't get mine.

Getpip 10-01-2012 09:28 PM

If you mean card then no ..... Still waiting, although they claim it has been sent.
And here was me thinking it was the quick and reliable choice!:eh?:

Footnote: It arrived today .. Yay!

ConceptRacing 10-01-2012 09:44 PM

Got mine ok just before christmas, sent cheque within a week, got card back just after the new year, always done it like this and always had card within a week, cant fault the service, been like that for the past 12 years now, still got every card since i started racing.

hoppy 10-01-2012 09:44 PM

6 weeks and still waiting as already said they have sent it
I now have to cancel meeting due to a lack of membership
NOT HAPPY:mad:

arransmith27 10-01-2012 09:47 PM

Renewed online last Wednesday, received card on Monday this week.

arransmith27 10-01-2012 09:51 PM

Ps. What's the difference between 'full' and 'affiliated' member?

"Full" means you join direct with the BRCA, "afiliate" means you have joined through your local club.

I am a "full" member, have been for a number of years, but didn't get my paper form through the post, despite an email from Chris Hardisty at the end of November (which I expect most members received) promising it within the next week.

Looks like I will either have to try my luck with that hopeless website of theirs, or become an affiliate member through my local club and let them deal with the paperwork!

Did mine via the website with Paypal. Didnt have any problems and the card came within the week. Then another arrived 3 or 4 days later !

You might not have to cancel. Is it a big meeting? If so get the club to check with the membership secretary that you have paid. If they are going to do this though, please ask them to send any queries in one job lot and not in dribs and drabs.

learnerdriver 10-01-2012 10:37 PM

Tried both methods, joined direct online with PayPal payment and new card came within 5days. Joined other members by sending forms in post with cheque and new cards have been sent within a week.

However, please remember that over 25000 applications are processed each year for uk alone plus any additional meetings outside uk and the majority of those applications in the first 4 months of the year !

So the system seems to be working :-):)

eyeayen 11-01-2012 12:34 AM

Did it on the website on New Years day, website worked absolutely fine. Paid via paypal, card arrived in the post within the week which I thought was pretty good as no one was back to work until the 3rd.

Can't fault the service.

mole2k 11-01-2012 12:39 AM

I got mine within a week of the club submitting them!

mark christopher 11-01-2012 09:35 AM

affiliated mean also you can not take a position on a comittee within the brca sections, full allows you too

got mine from website within one week, also got paper reminder in post.

I didn't get mine.

My 'Full' licence arrived in time for 2012 but I've yet to race :o

Applied online via the BRCA site

RogerM 11-01-2012 12:35 PM

Mine came 3 days after I renewed on line.

dmsykes 11-01-2012 12:58 PM

Not arrived yet

Sent both Paul's & my renewal back as soon as I got the renewal form, paid by cheque. This was prior to Christmas, still awaiting membership cards to arrive (11th Jan).

From the replies so far it seems a hit & miss situation, that's not usually the case as in previous years have had no problems.

rondoolaa 11-01-2012 01:21 PM

I ordered 2, 1 for my son and one for me, ordered them about 28th dec and got both our membership cards by 9th of January,

jonathan may 11-01-2012 01:36 PM

Mine came about 4 days after renewing online

AmiSMB 11-01-2012 01:50 PM

I did mine through BRCA website and came 2 days later.

im pretty sure my form had the old membership address on it, and the the membership secertary was suposed to get them forwarded, could be a reason why

Unfair.
They've updated the website and I have to say its pretty good now.
Alot of others seem to be having no problems renewing via the website.

Was really easy for me, login, big red box says RENEW!, click it, paypal, card arrived.
Not sure what else they could be doing to make it easier?! :eh?:

eyeayen 11-01-2012 07:37 PM

+1 to what Cardnim said !

lordnikon 11-01-2012 08:22 PM

Didn't get anything through the post but got an email, just renewed using website and paypal, fingers crossed card arrives

arvi 11-01-2012 08:28 PM

why do clubs ask you to become BRCA members. The way I see it its some thing to do with insurance but would appreciate why this is done apart from squeezing money out of racers.

And me - never failed in over 25 years of membership.

mainly so you have a 3rd party insurace should your toy car hurt somone, then the club is not liable, unless its thier failing

also BRCA rules state that if the club is BRCA affiliated all people entering the pits or track boundaries need to be BRCA members, I think that you are allowed 3 meetings before you have to join

Projectzip 12-01-2012 11:10 AM

Never once been asked for proof of my BRCA Membership at any bigger race meetings.

Whether or not you get asked is not the point. Membership is required, and "should" anything happen at the track and it turns out you are not a member, you or the club will be directly liable.

Anyway, I've been trying to use the website. I stand by my opinion that it is poorly designed, because I have found two independent ways of generating an account, neither of which seem to let me keep my existing number.

So I have emailed the site admin to get either a login under my current number or some paper forms.

If you pre enter some meetings and arent a BRCA member at the time, they will just bin your entry. They do check. It says so on some entry forms.

Jamesk 12-01-2012 12:57 PM

I payed by post last week and recived the card this morning.

jK

crtpromachine 12-01-2012 03:56 PM

All our series and meetings that we host and run all drivers at every meeting will be asked to show there valid BRCA licence also there is spot checks done on pit crew and marshalls for a valid licence through the day/days racing

This is to try and stop people not applying for a licence and letting other people to pay to get there;s just makes it a little fairer across the board for everyone

matthew 18-01-2012 06:08 PM

I payed for mine via paypay through the brca website VERY EASY, that was on saturday and recieved the licence today in the post ....

mugenmark 19-01-2012 09:18 AM

me and grandaughter joined though my club,i got 2 identical member ship backs and she got nothing back time to send a email,me thinks

sosidge 19-01-2012 02:31 PM

I now have my membership, once my emails to the site were responded to the process has been quite rapid. Hopefully the renewal will be more straightforward next year.

raymondkerr 19-01-2012 03:55 PM

I got my new card through this morning after renewing on the website and paying by paypal about a week ago. I did notice that my number has changed, for the first time in about 8 years, used to have a great number 757, now my new number is 6-7 digits long. :o

This was why I had to send an email. This seems to be the flaw in the website registration system, you need the admin to manually modify your account if you want to keep your previous number.
