How many racers are currently running the X11?
Hi everyone, as the thread states, how many of you are regularly racing the X11?
I am only a club racer, had fair few issues getting the car to work indoors but thanks to Kev Lee, I am now able to at least drive it ok. Did the MK GP and am fairly sure that I was the only one running the car there. I am sure given some more time with the car I will be able to drive it alot better, but keep wondering if I had a more conventional car would it be better for someone of my ability. There does seem to be a significant down turn in racers with the car, although I did Taplow a few weeks back and there were 3 preds there, Will Johnson is very quick with his though. I run the car because as a kid I always wanted one, and you can only be impressed in the engineering and looks of the car, but many people are saying to me, try something else. Interestingly, I run faster with my B4.1 than both the X11 and DEX210 on carpet! Cheers for any responses. |

Hi Neil
Yours is the only pred I have seen in 3 years at torch. Not tempted with a kyosho or dex410 etc or even belt drive based? |
I'm not trying to start a debate about which should be faster, just want to try and see if the X11 is still a racers choice.
Regarding why I'm faster with my B4.1 than my DEX210 and X11, it's probably my inexperience, I find the X11 a very aggressive car to drive and the DEX210 hard to push, and difficult to brake hard. The B4.1 just seems a safe car to drive, maybe not the fastest on high grip astro or carpet (my local club surfaces) but a nice car to drive. Mike, might give something else a try but for now I'm going to stick at the X11, would like to test drive a 410 or Lazer. See you at TORCH at rd 3. |
The pred is a fabulous car when you have found the right setup for your driving style. Until then it can be a bit of an animal - probably this is why you are not so fast with yours.
Sadly, the car has suffered from sporadic support and a legendary reputation as a fragile car. The latter is certainly not the case with the X11. However, this reputation has always preceded the car and many drivers won't give the car a chance. Because of these thoughts/issues, the car has never had the success it deserves, and now Kev Lee is no longer racing it, unless Lewis has a surprise up his sleeve, the car never will have. |
I have recently brought a pred X11. My first real outing with it will be at taplow on the 11th. Really looking forward to it. Have run the car for some laps at my local club on polished floor and it was really good. I have run Schumacher 4wd for past 3 years but fancied a change. And happy with it so far.

Burgie, everything you say is probably right. I am finding the car better to drive with every improving change, but it is as you say, an animal. The ever decreasing support is also a major factor, I always used Kev for advice, and he is fantastic to deal with, but since he has moved on, I am not sure of which top driver, and I mean regular A or B national finalist, to ask for advice.
If the last incarnation was the '08 spec it's coming up to be 4 years old, and with many modifications that the top drivers had to do, is there going to be a new/improved car in the near future. That doesn't really bother me to be honest. Rob, if I'm in the area I'll do Taplow as well and we can meet up. |
I really like the car and as you said i wanted one in the early 90's but never got one. I am trying to get hold of one at the moment. But i'm not a regular racer so for me the fun will be tinkering and tuning, then running at TORCH more regularly next year. I'm finding it difficult to find a second hand roller, and can't justify the £350 for a new one.

There are 5 Pred X11 at my club (Faversham) we race on a polised wood floor and they seem to be going well.
I too had Preds as a youngster a Carbon tub one and an International and have had a X11 and got another one coming! All I would say is check out the set up sheets on Petit Rc website, take a look at Kev Lee's set ups (he won Stotfold national on astro so gd set up for torch?) and discuss your issues on here. I'm sure other X11 owners can help out. I'd stick with it, it's a cool car  |

Again, I am going to agree..
I race at the same club and the Pred looks really good and I am desperate to get one.. pls Father Christmas.. I have also seen them racing outdoors and they look so quick and smooth, coupled with amazing engineering I think they will always be a top car, well done Xtreme!!!! Scott.. |
Think there's 7 or 8 at our club Mark!, I may still be very new to the X11 (Racing it since around October time I think?) And I'm no national A or B finalist, But I will try my best to help others with set ups as and when i find them myself
The car is always under development, we've certainly tried some pretty radical ideas on my car lol. There'll be a few small new bits out soon, including the new front bumper. The car is as strong and as competitive as anything else currently on the market, and I can only urge people to have a go for themselves. |
Thanks Mark and Will for your advice and words.
I am going to stick with the car, I have always wanted one and spent too much money on it and spares to just give it up. I love the way it looks and the engineering that's gone into it, and people who have seen me go round said it looks like it would be fast if I can find the set up that suits me. Will, I have done some changes since you saw me last at Taplow and I wasn't as painfully slow as I was then. I started this thread to just see how many use the car not to convince myself to keep the car, but the MK was a big event and like I said in my first post, I think I was the only one running a pred. |
No probs Neil, glad the links of use.
I agree with Frobes, 100% British made and the quality and engineering in the car is amazing, till you have owned one you may not notice all the nice details etc. The car is very responsive to set up changes so do it little at a time and see how you get on, bounce ideas of the lads on here and I'm sure you'll get there. Its an exclusive club being a Pred owner, enjoy it! My new X11 will be here soon so will help out where I can! :) |
Thanks Mark, hopefully I can get up to speed with it, put some weight along the spine as Kev recommended and the handling was totally different, just need more confidence to push it my driving limit:woot:
|
Good man, to be honest the Pred goes better when your driving the wheels off it.
Get some banzai laps in dude, the X11 will take it! |

Yes it's an exclusive club! Nice to have something different!
I reckon they'll be some more Pred drivers when the Pred X11RS comes out at a cheaper price point, it'll make Pred ownership a bit cheaper and hopefully get more people running the car. |

Get some pics of your Pred posted up!
Here is a link: http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47516 Martin lets have a build thread on your one dude! |
I also have the X11-08, not really been able to run it as much as i wanted this summer due to work and other commitments, I always struggled with grip at our track its loose and dusty and the way the pred spins up just made it all worse, its a rocket ship thats for sure, I am hoping to give it another go next summer maybe with some tweaks here and there have to try the weight trick yet.

AWSOME CAR
I am new back to the game after 22 years doing other things.
Just back and into the schumy way as when i left i loved em, the cat and cougar are great. BUT I LOVE the Pred, as Percy will agree, i often say how much i love seeing it go round our club track(SHRCCC) and it just looks damn amazing in every aspect! I have had many close inspections of it, cheers neil...... I am so amazed at the over engineering of the wishbones, shocks etc etc, it just oooooozes performance! Looks so great and secure on the track. I am amazed it has not done better or has more people racing it. I seems to still be engineered better than anything elsze built now! But, back up is always an issue, hence why i am sticking schumy! But i would love a pred as a "toy" to play with on the odd occasion.... but for now i will stick with the norm. Percy, you love it, you suit it, get ot tuned in right and you WILL dominate where ever you race, you mad man!!!!! see ya thursday dude!!!!:):woot::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thu mbsup: |
