Another DEX210 shell

Designed a DEX210 body, cab shape based off my DEX410 design obviously :D
Everyone complained that the original was too hard to paint, and that the poor little driver had massive blind spots
So this is easier to paint, and less sharp corners is less prone to cracking.
I still have to make the rear cover sections for mid motor, but it will be able to be used in any config with covers or just cut specifically for one of the mid motors or rear motor.
Was also going to put scoop cutting lines in those angled down bits at the front of the side pods to make them legal scoops if anyone actually needs them.
Made a similar wing to my usual one, just with a wider middle to clear the gear cover in rear motor mode.

Also made an undertray and a proper front bumper..

Some pics from sunday, thanks to Brooke for the action shots

+1, the DEX210 shell has to be one of the better and more original shells produced lately (no wonder if you see what chassis is underneath and around that shell). The only thing I might have done different would be the sidepods, but to keep them practical they really need to be pretty bulky.

Anyway, your shell looks nice as well. I wonder though if there will be any manufacturer to try out a body on this one that doesn't follow the shape of the current sidepods and has a cab fitted further backwards. It seems pretty impossible with the chassis Durango have built

Bugle 21-11-2011 09:34 AM

Thanks for the comments!
Still a supply problem of the kits over there?

I'm planning on having the first batch ready at the same time I finally launch my website, which will have ordering. Should be early next week.

I might have a go at a rear cab, I have had some ideas about that :)

Jconcepts RULUX for the B4:thumbsup:

jonmiller 24-11-2011 07:46 PM

i too think the stock 210 shell is cool looking but man.....what a pig to paint!
all the td shells (well, the 1/8 n sc aren't too bad) have really recessed windows and vents which makes it a nightmare to cut designs in or around those areas.

so, nice1 bugle :D

mark christopher 24-11-2011 08:16 PM

will the undertray fit the stock shell?

Bugle 25-11-2011 01:49 PM

Yeah I like to let people mask windows however they like if they don't like my lines , don't have a choice if the windows are recessed!

The undertray will fit with the standard shell, it fits the outline of the chassis closely.

gainsy 25-11-2011 05:05 PM

Put me down for 1 please, very cool shell

Bugle 29-11-2011 11:38 AM

ok ready to pump some out, just needed more cowl bell :D
You could probably get away without the cowl for mid motor though if you only wanted to cut it for 1 configuration, and if the motor tabs don't poke out further than 6mm measured from a tangent from the point where the centre tab is. Every motor i've got looks like it should be ok.

Bugle 09-12-2011 07:01 AM

Hey everyone, yep i've got the DEX210 shells in production and finally got a web store going, currently with all my Durango and Losi bits, will be adding Associated soon, all my Associated stuff looks like it came from the 80's though .

Here's the link http://bugleboyracing.com/

If that package I sent to Jeffrey is anything to go by, postage is faster than ever during the christmas rush, only took 3 working days..

Awesome paint job Jeffrey, only person I know who would put that much effort into painting an undertray

Tomk26B4 09-12-2011 10:08 PM

Any chance of some pics of the B4 and B44 shells you mentioned on your site?

Bugle 10-12-2011 10:20 AM

Here's the old school B4 & B44 bodies. I've got the B4 one in scooped or scoopless. Made it to suit both the +8mm and original chassis, just requires cutting an extra 4mm off each end to work with the original.

http://bugleboyracing.com/images/b44.jpg

I also experimented with a forward cab version of the oldschool shell on the B4, it looks pretty ugly but I might try selling some anyway:lol:

I think the DEX210 style thing might work on the B4, I tried it a while back adapting the 410 shell to the B44 but didn't get very far, I don't think that'll work.

OneKiwi 10-12-2011 06:20 PM

Now that in my eyes is not pretty, some cab foward like the bulldog would be intresting

Ace! Now if only those old school deep dished rear wheels could be added to the car

Bugle 11-12-2011 02:35 AM

Could always make some old Yokie adaptors and run pink wheels

Yeah 'black betty' seemed to go alright today when I had a try, certainly went where I aimed it and jumps nicely. Now put a 5.5 in it.
