Jimmy,
You have a great collection. Brings back memories as I used to race a original Schumacher Cat and also the Losi JRX2. The Mid turbo special and the YZ10 were great handling cars and had very smooth transmissions. Unfortunately I sold up my collection in the 1990's and I have only recently got back into racing again:D. Jason |
i like all the old school buggy's "we got perfect motion"

Optima Mid Turbo Optima Mid Custom Special Lazer ZX Lazer ZXR Ultima Pro Ultima II Oh the memories......... |
2 Gold Tub RC10's Jimmy !!!
wanna seperate from from one of them ?? :woot: my best car ever that was, handled like a dream.. |
haha yeah one is an original rc10, the other is a championship edition 2 - with stealth gearbox and longer arms etc. The Ce2 has had old style wheels, tyres and front arms added to give it a more vintage look (Which is what I like) but it's still got the newer shock tops, front tower and stealth gearbox

Tell you what, The best car you have there in my opinion is the Mid....
The first rc car i bought and raced at Rochdale with a cert Mr. chris long was the Optima mid. what an ace car they are. Turbo being the ultimate.... Have you never been tempted to build it Jimmy??? |
Currently running to a collection of somewhere between 100 and 130 cars, I really haven't a clue exactly how many as only some of my collection is in my Tamiyaclub showroom. I tend to run them rather than restore them, so most aren't looking pretty, and my RC10 CE still gets a run out whenever I'm running in 2wd buggy. Only got one RC10, but there's 6 Procats to make up for it.:D

BTW the ultimate Mid was the Turbo Optima Mid Special - a limited edition with lwb carbon chassis and top deck, ball diffs and two sets of wheels and tyres as standard. Good luck trying to find one though:( |
That was the Optima Mid Custom Special ....... my first proper race car .... a VERY limited edition if I recal ...... back in the days when I was at middle school, racing for Puma Racing and my father was still with me.
My father died the day before my Egress arrived and as we had to pay for the funneral expenses I had to tell Puma we could not afford to pay for the car and thus I never got to open the box ..... it's why it is such an interesting car for me. To this day I have never owned an Egress :( |

a few have been on ebay recently so go for it. |
:( I can't show you my collection, cos I don't have one. :(
My missus makes me sell any cars I don't use so that I can buy new ones.:cry: |
Here's a photo of my super dogfighter 870c at the 2004 batley national! :) I was in the bottom final, the car was a bit pants on the rougher parts but on the grass it was on par with anything else. I put B4 shocks on and had to make a new higher tower for the front to use the longer shocks.
The chassis needed filing to fit modern cells http://www.oople.com/rc/vintagerc/superdog05.jpg Finally got some pink wheels for it, and already have some new original tyres, new original shell - but I need shocks :( |
Ahh that dogfighter is a beauty Jimmy. had one myself when it first came out and it's the finest car ihave driven. I recall it had magnesium parts i the hubs? I used mine to chase cat's. Shumacher cat's that is. I am going to scavenger the Ebay now Mom :D
|
Jimmy, a NIB Wild One. Respect. I can only boast one nicely 'run-in' example and a new built one I got to rolling chassis stage before I discovered racing. Now its just sat in the footwell of my Mini 35 in the garage - maybe one day I'll get it finished! Looks wise, old skool rules , the modern stuff just can't compete.
|
If I had the money I would have a mint optima chain drive........I just loved that car. Jimmy I spoted that box, throw those common old RC10s out the way and get the good stuff out:woot:
|
Jimmy that Yoke' of yours looks sweet!! I love the 870c and would die to have a nice one with a new body and undertray. Oh well I guess I might have to put up with just having some old Schueys.....
Ive had my hands into plenty of projects lately (including renovating my house on weekends-) but in between that and work Ive been throwing some cars together. I havent had enough time to finish them all yet but I thought I'd take my new XLS racing with me to show some of the guys. Anyway for the most part this car is a Procat but Im running a fibreglass saddle pack XLS chassis,XLS body and undertray with some sweet chroms rims too. The guys loved it! http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...mac/CATXLS.jpg http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...ac/CATXLS2.jpg http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...ac/CATXLS1.jpg http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...ac/CATXLS3.jpg |
Also got this A&L RC10 thats taken me ages to put together.Again not finished but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel-:D

That rc10 is simply jaw-dropping stuff and the schuey too. Your work is :woot: ace Bormac.

These are my alltime favourites, simply because they were my main runners back in the day. both now restored to descent shelf condition :wub
Tamiya HotShot 2 and Marui Galaxy |
The Galaxy was crazy fast with its box-stock 540s ! Well, at least for the kid I was...
I'd love to have one now ! |
Yes it was and it ate spur gears like peanuts :D! btw the motor of the red rollcarged version (earlier) was a Marui 360RS (550 type).
cheers |
I don't have as many vintage cars as a lot of collectors only 40 or so, here's a couple of my favorites.
