Sad news, RIP Dez Chand. :(

its with great sadness that I inform you all of the passing of Dez Chand. Former RRCi Editor and all round nice bloke.

He was involved in an accident on his bike on his way to work this morning and unfortunately lost his life in the crash.

Anyone that knew Dez will know about his enthusiastic nature and love for bikes, loud shirts and Coka Cola. He was a true character and will deffinately be missed at the tracks around the country.

RIP Dez.

R.I.P Dez! :(

Projectzip 15-11-2011 06:38 AM

Oh dear what a tragic piece of news.
Ill always remember when I turned up to race the GPV bike never having one out of the box. Dez took pity on me and whisked me off to a car park for some private practice and lessons.
I never got the thumbs for RC Bikes, but I can only try to emulate his passion when new people arrive into our sport.

Drink Pepsi? Id rather eat worms.

Thanks for that lil quote Dez, RIP

MHeadling 15-11-2011 08:52 AM

What sad news, my thoughts go out to his family

He was such a great guy, always willing to lend a hand or give advice.

I met him at the RC bike worlds and he helped me out so much, kept in touch ever since, he will be missed :-(

dale 15-11-2011 09:01 AM

Awful news. Dez was the biggest character in the on-road scene in the 90s when I started racing. He'd usually be racing about 5 cars, all of them painted like a Coke can.

For some reason I can remember an old issue of RRC where he had a car balanced on his head...

RIP mate, we'll miss you.

terry.sc 15-11-2011 09:06 AM

RIP Dez.
Never known anyone more enthusiastic about every part of the hobby. He will be sadly missed by many of us. My thoughts and prayers to his family.

Chequered Flag Racing 15-11-2011 09:11 AM

Our thoughts are riding with Dez and his close family. :(

mark christopher 15-11-2011 09:34 AM

Echo every bodies thoughts, made so much possible for me

russmini 15-11-2011 09:56 AM

Very sad news indeed.

Dez was one of the greats. Always happy, always smiley, would help anyone out, without hesitation.
Such a nice, down to earth bloke who loved life, RC, photography, bikes and Coca-Cola.

I will be raising a bottle of Coke at 1pm today as a toast to Dez. A minutes silence seems wrong, a cheer and a swig of his favourite tipple seems a lot more appropriate.

Anyone with me ?

eyeayen 15-11-2011 10:02 AM

I used to email with Dez quite a lot, fantastic guy, he took RC bike out of obscurity and made their race scene what it is. His passion for all RC related things was fantastic. Can't believe what I'm reading. I met him at the worlds, such a nice guy.

My thoughts go out to his family and close friends.

jimmy 15-11-2011 10:40 AM

This is a shock, only met dez a handful of times myself but always appreciated his photos. Very sorry to hear this news.

top bloke will be truely missed thoughts go out to dez's family

kayce 15-11-2011 03:25 PM

Though I've met literally thousands of people through racing and through a hobby we both shared, and in my travails across the globe, I can honestly say that I've not met anyone as genuine and sincere - and just freaking fun - as the late great Dez Chand.

A great man once said, "Only the good die young" - and now I am a true believer. May God rest your soul, Dez, you will be missed.

I'll be tipping back a Coca-Cola today in your honor, I suggest everyone else do the same......

xfactor 15-11-2011 03:51 PM
