DEX210 - What have people broken

In the process of ordering spares and so forth.

I haven't broken anything yet, but seen a few rear towers done

What have people broken and what did you do to break it?

gainsy 12-11-2011 10:48 AM

So far just 1 front wishbone, cars don't agree with concrete :woot:

Dazzler 12-11-2011 10:51 AM

I know of two cases of broken rear wishbones, and a bent inner rear hinge pin.

Both for good reason...

Big G 12-11-2011 12:11 PM

not sure if this counts, but I cross threaded the spur cover onto the motor plate as it's difficult to get it in straight without a ball ended hex drive (which I have now)

Mitch269 13-11-2011 05:46 AM

So far just a rear tower overall I think the car is pretty tough

Other than typical buggy breakage items, that you've experienced in the past - it seems that threads like these always come with posts from people that do a lot of crashing, as it seems impossible to have broken anything yet as these cars haven't even had time to have been worn-in of yet.

Bungleaio 13-11-2011 05:10 PM

Nothing up until today but I've now got a broken spur gear cover due to someone ramming me.

jayst 13-11-2011 06:11 PM

Animal!

Rear shock towers where popular at Coventry today, five or six got broken, usually as the result of a tumble after the double.

mikeyscott 13-11-2011 06:46 PM

Yup I know the jump at Coventry. Did the same with my xx but didn't break the rear tower etc

TonyM 13-11-2011 10:41 PM

Rear Shock Tower. It was big crash.:eh?:
Body split along the lower window line on both sides. Now held together with cricket bat tape.

old-man 14-11-2011 09:01 AM

Rear Shock Towers here  Carbon ones on the way :)

jamiekerr14 14-11-2011 09:47 AM

I have run my car for Equiv. of a full days racing..

I broke 2 rear towers on my 1st time out with the car, they were not so much bad landing but catching a wheel in a high speed section and rolling. Which catches the top edge and snapped it. They have both broken in the exact same spot. And see almost like small air pocket or 2 there.

But I don't know enough about injection moulding and so on to comment much more. I raced the buggy yesterday morning and had 0 issues. And there was a large jump at torch and landed to flat a few times. For me this buggy is amazing I have never driven a 2wd in anger before but this one rocks! Got some carbon goodness on the way, but cant fault the buggy so far!

kartstuffer 14-11-2011 12:30 PM

3rd weekend of racing and broke a rear shock tower, out in front no pressure just a hard landing after a jump. Definetly seems to be the weak spot on the car as i have seen others go . Carbon on the way .

Plenty to be broken at the MK GP then! Good job I've ordered 5 packs!

That's £30 mate, why not a carbon rear tower ?

Because I ordered them a while ago and got mates running the car too, so it's sort of for them too.

I doubt I'll be keeping the car anyway.

4_cell_racer 14-11-2011 03:36 PM

WOW......after reading this thread I cannot believe racers are breaking sooo much on there 210's :o

I've ran mine (mainly indoors) on a tight track where there is always contact and have yet to break anything! and was at Broxtowe yesterday, raced all day and even had a off at the end of the straight (on the banked corner) and didnt break a thing.....and I aint the best driver out there (my results show this :D) and have my fair share of nose dives, awkward landings etc

Although now I've replied to this thread I'm bound to break something :p

I found a weak spot, the screws that hold the 320123-1. It takes the whole strange of the shock tower. I stripped the threads on both sides, and decided to make it more rigid. I added nuts on the inside of the plastic sides. No need to counter sunk as i did, low profile nuts will fit anyway.

Tweaky 17-11-2011 01:18 PM

Or use 2mm longer screws to start with. Same with the front shock tower mounting screws need to be 2mm longer.

TARTMAN 17-11-2011 01:29 PM

carbon?

i have broken the carbon towers on my cat and cougar, carbon looks nice but breaks easily,. OK my driving is to blame for half of it, but i dont rate carbon for strenth.... at all...

Same here. I stripped one side and then fitted longer screws - all OK now.

I was in DMS Racing yesterday & they now sell their own range of mounts called carbon flex which flex more than standard carbon, might be worth a call to see if they do them for your car :)

TARTMAN 17-11-2011 03:40 PM

cheers, but...

I am working on my own ones, with a dremmel and some various materials, just some testing to do and may have a cheap supply made by yours truly!:)

martin so16 20-11-2011 10:39 PM

wel ive had 4 rear anti-squat blocks go the rear wish bone pins just tare out of them with not alot of impact done three at the mk gp this weekend not saying im the best driver out there and indoor racing is not that forgiveing but they are made from very flexible plastic.
and the HD ball caps pop off all the time on the 210 and the 410 v3 any one else had probs or is it just my bad driveing lol :woot:

jamiekerr14 20-11-2011 10:50 PM

Im still really confused how you did 3 martin! Me and Mark were both very confused.. I had a ball cup from the front pop off in Q1 and Q2. Think I will do the same to my old 410 and get Losi HD cups and HPi ball studs.. since doing that on my 410 had next to 0 issues.. As the Rango HD ones seem better than the old.. but not by much!:(

Aran 20-11-2011 10:56 PM

My steering turnbuckles kept popping of but rest seem fine. Anyone got part numbers for the losi cups and hpi ball studs?

losichris 20-11-2011 11:01 PM

yep rear anti squat block ripped out ( not much impact) and cups pop off all the time, very soft plastic !!

jamiekerr14 20-11-2011 11:03 PM

Losi HD ball cups with HPI-75115 and HPI-7116 ball studs

I can't say about the 210, but since fitting the HD ball cups to my 410, I've only had them pop off once, and that was in a crash that would've took the entire front end off most cars.

Big G 21-11-2011 01:37 PM

still yet to pop a HD ball cup off on either the 210 or the 410. :)

andys 21-11-2011 01:59 PM

Had a few big crashes indoors with mine, not broke a single thing.
It's certainly a strong car IMO.

AmiSMB 21-11-2011 03:20 PM

Had loads of spares with me for the 210 at the MK GP expecting some breakages and had none. I have already put Losi ball cups on and Schumacher ball studs on the steering

Any idea on a part number or dimension for the Schumacher ball studs for the steering. Mine ball cup pops off the ball stud at the slightest tap.

Big G 20-01-2012 11:48 AM

Broke my steering rack last week during a awkward landing. replaced with Atomic Carbon version :)
