Cats crapping on my lawn

Next doors cat has started crapping on my lawn and the dam thing has diarrhea. For the last three night it crapped three times on my back lawn. I've bought one of these from ebay 230691198405 the thing is supposed to emit sonic noises to scare it away.
They have 6-7 cats which is way too much for anyone and since my dog died we have had the dirty B******* peeing on the front door and five times in my car air intakes which stunk my car out for days.
Anyone know if those sonic things work or any other way to keep them away.

Light off one M80, just once, and I can guarantee it won't return.

(and will be spending the next moth trying to remove it's arse from around it's shoulders)

a friend of mine who was into paintballing decided to use the neighbours cat for target practice. Seemed to do the trick for him!

obviously i could never condone that sort of thing!

AfroP 01-11-2011 04:57 PM

not sure if the sonic thing works or not but orange peel and citrus is hated by cats
a plastic coke bottle filled with water also seems to do the trick, although that may just work for dogs

RudeTony 01-11-2011 04:59 PM

I can only think of a BBQ

bodgit 01-11-2011 05:04 PM

They have also ruined £50 worth of plants sleeping on them. New spikes stop them doing that now.

cat problem

Dress as a giant dog and wait for the next cat to show its devious face...pounce out from behind the shed barking!! If it doesnt work it will def be worth the sight for the neighbours

poopers 01-11-2011 05:08 PM

Never used that particular sonic thing, but yes they normally work quite well, we’ve had a couple of them. They can also be quite painful to kids ears too.

In the short term just soaking the lawn with the hose pipe at night might work, as it’s not gonna dry too fast this time of year and most cats hate going near wet stuff. Good excuse to get a water gun too!

go to local zoo and get some tiger poo,it will keep cats away.a mate of mine kept picking it up and put it in an old bucket with water in it he then set a trap and captured the cat in a box and threw the bucket contents all over the cat.it didnt come back and think about when the cat snuggles up to its owners.another idea is put cat in boot drive for about 20 miles and kick it out,and it wont find its way back:p

i4n 01-11-2011 05:54 PM

When next doors cat did that to me I just used to pick it up with a trowel and flick it back over the fence, it didn't have the squits though....

Since then I've taken to scaring the bejesus out of them through different methods (one of them liked sitting and urinating just below an upstairs window so he had a bucket of water dropped on him.....) and that works as they don't see it as a safe place to hang out.

I haven't thought of mounting a scope on my TLR 22 -
- but do you suggest an overhand or underhand throw?

Timee80 01-11-2011 06:14 PM

We had the same with a cat that would sit on top of the car and scratch everypanel getting off. Tried lots but ending up "relocating" it. It may seem harsh but enough is enough.
Just do it and dont tell the mrs

DCM 01-11-2011 06:20 PM

I think relocating the cards shit back over their garden, preferably on the back door step would be good.... I wouldn't want to hurt the cat though....

Phil Channon 01-11-2011 06:21 PM

I had the same problem.
I tried the sonic gadget but the cat would just sit and look at it.

The cat was not the brightest and I spotted it crapping on my lawn so I played nice and it came over to me. So I picked it up and proceeded to rub its face in its own shit.
Its not come back since.

jaffacake 01-11-2011 06:33 PM

I was told as has been already said above, the only thing that works is manure from a bigger cat, ie- tiger, lion etc
I tried everything when i lived in a culdi sac,(cat safe environment so most of the neighbours had the bastard things) few years ago & i tried everything from sonic emitting gadgets to pepper dust..nothing worked.

Google 'pussy tazer'...you never know :woot:

I suppose that's an idea if you happen to have some lion shite handy, but personally I don't know of anyone that owns a lion - and I bet nobody else does either.

bodgit 01-11-2011 06:42 PM

Lion poo pellets are on ebay £10 lasts about 2-3 moths. Scares the crap out of normal cats apparently but somethings beat this one to it.

I would do that particular search with safe-search on ;).
There are some strange folks on the internet :wtf:

trax de max 01-11-2011 07:38 PM

you should wipe up the crap and smear it on the owners door handle.then wait till they come out and use the handle, then say your hands like my lawn, covered in cat crap.

Jedi Master 01-11-2011 07:44 PM

Grate Orange or Lemon peel and sprinkle it around the garden. Cats hate the smell of citrus.

And owning one of them over here will probably get you 5 years in chokey......

You can buy the lion poo pellets in garden centres, think I saw some in B&Q once.

pro4nut 01-11-2011 09:16 PM

On a serious note i gave my neighbors a big water pistol as a just in case.
Causes no injury and cats get the message pretty quickly.
Having once paid just short of a grand for a vet bill i'm not to keen on the idea doing anything that can injure them.

eyeayen 02-11-2011 08:37 AM

This is a bit drastic and some where you won't want anyone to see you but if you go to a garden centre... and ask for a plant known as scaredy cat (google search - link)

My mum had the same problem you did, so I went and bought about 4 plants, divided them up into about 8, placed them at the corners of the plot thereabouts to the front and rear of the house, problem solved... but my car stank of it for at least 2 weeks. The plants are pretty cheap, 4 or 5 quid. Should sort it out for you.

Hog 02-11-2011 10:45 AM

I've got the same problem with a neighbours cat. Thing is I'm rarely at home to catch the bloody thing or I would relocate it north of the Dartford crossing.

Can't condone injuring the cat but I'm getting fed up with clearing poo off my lawn before the kids can play out the garden.

Mind you I did once hear that chopped up starfish don't do cats any favours? They like the fishy smell but it doesn't agree with them when they ingest it.......

adon30 02-11-2011 01:35 PM

As I understand it cats have a fairly good memory. They will go and use a particular area to do their business in on regular occasions. However this is an area they feel comfortable in, so if you make it uncomfortable for them they will not use it and hopefully remember this and not return for some time.

When I find cat crap on the lawn the first thing I do is send it back to where it came from. I then use one of the sonics for a few weeks. It annoys the neighbours but keeps my lawn crap free!! After a period of a few weeks you should be able to remove it (or move it to another location around the garden).

If you want the following products are all known to be hated by cats: Citrus (lemon juice is good), pepper, lion poo, mothballs (cheap alternative) and other various scented stuff such as special plants.

However nothing works better than you catching the cat in action and lobbing something at it!! Even if the cat isn't wholly deterred you feel a lot better.

bodgit 02-11-2011 01:53 PM

I've sent 9 loads of the sloppy stuff back over the fence on their patio. I got the sonic scarer this morning and will update on how good/bad it is.
I have also heard that they are petrified of snakes but cant find any rubber ones to place round the garden.

Forgot to mention snakes!! Yes I had two off them that I bought all the way from Texas USA (rubber ones!!). Only problem is the squirrels attacked one and bit it's head off. I only keep them in the back garden though.

MatJohnson 02-11-2011 02:04 PM

I've got a sonic thing, works quite well, moved them on anyway. I need to sort the front garden as thats its new location but living where I do, its not a wise move to have something which can be thrown or stolen on show :)

Nice one Bodg, glad you got it sorted chum :)

dodgydiy 04-11-2011 12:25 AM

is everyone ignoring the most obvious and fun way..... we used to have problems with a tomcat hanging around and terrorising our cat, not any more, it really didnt like being chased by my b4, especially as it was catching him quickly. chased it twice and it stays well clear now. another good one though is the end of a cotton bud in an air rifle, it will hurt but not injure, used to use this on my friends occasionally!
