Mini Monkey Spanker!!!!

Hi all over the next few weeks im converting my std mini t pro into a mini monkey spanker (aka S2) so ive decided to start a thread and show you my progress. Now ive started drawing it all out i have the outline of the chassis draw and a card model made im going to make a plastic version on thursday then once its fully working it will be made from carbon fibre. It will have ajustable battery possition (on a sliding battery tray) 4 gear gear box and new rear shock tower. So here are some pics of my model not working im afraid as the car bends to much lol hopefully will have a working one on thursday. Once the ca ris finallised i will be vacume forming a bodyshell for it. Sorry about poor pics....

Looks great. Keep us updated.

BTW, you spelled caron fiber wrong. LOL

ashleyb4 20-02-2008 01:14 AM

i can never spell lol

Made some more decitions on it now im going to have a top deck the full length of the car to help stop the back en from snapping off lol But possibly might reconsider the 4 gear box not to sure on how succesfull thatwill be the 3 gear would be alot easier and just have a new rear shock tower.

lol annie! as said.. it is YOU who has spelt it wrong ;)

lookin good though ash!

RogerM 20-02-2008 06:04 PM

Ash .... do you mainly run on slippy surfaces or with really big jumps? If not then I'd stick with the 3 gear tranny as it's going to be quite difficult to make up a well aligned transmission case without access to a decent mill etc.

ashleyb4 20-02-2008 10:28 PM

I have access to a cnc router cnc laser cutter and a cnc milling machine :p But i think i may stick with the 3 gear box its easy i might just make a new rear shock tower.

josh_smaxx 10-03-2008 07:19 AM

Looks ACE Ash, hope it goes as good as it looks :p:thumbsup:

ashleyb4 10-03-2008 08:43 AM

annie its acrylic thanks josh :thumbsup::thumbsup:

A

peetbee 10-03-2008 01:51 PM

Looks good Ash, but aren't you worried the acrylic may be a bit brittle?

DCM 10-03-2008 01:53 PM

why are the cells so wide apart, and that is so gonna be touch and go if it makes the day out lol....

Good effort though!

b4rs 10-03-2008 04:26 PM

ash, i reckon you need some propper plasic or carbon fibre. that acrylic shcool and college buy is crappy, one tumble and it will shatter, i made a b4 wing out of it and it shattered. looks good though, id have use some of that transparent blue tint acrylic, made it pimpin'.
also what you studying at college ash?

josh_smaxx 10-03-2008 04:57 PM

You need some 6mm lexan  or carbon, that would be better.

6mm? Are you on crack?

G

b4rs 10-03-2008 05:03 PM

3mm or 4mm would be fine, but propper plastic would be better so it bends a bit

Danosborne6661 10-03-2008 05:17 PM

Buy a old B3 chassis ash!
My Mini-t buggy chassis is carved up from a old B3 chassis

Now thats recycling :D
And look, theres the cells you have in your car now! Even more recycling :D

trust me thsi aint going to break i was doing some jumping the other day to see how well it jumped and i over cooked it a bit and it took off hit the floor then kartwheeled into my house and it snapped a rear shock tower the acrulics wasnt even scratched! And even if i do im hoping to have 2 or 3 sparse chassis with me just incase.

A

ashleyb4 10-03-2008 06:29 PM

westie 10-03-2008 06:58 PM

ashleyb4 10-03-2008 06:59 PM

A

b4rs 10-03-2008 07:05 PM

are the shock towes the same then? i pressumed youd changed them and i didnt think a standard shell would fit.

ashleyb4 10-03-2008 07:08 PM

Yea there std shock towers but if you mean how did i get the body to fit like theother guys have its because its not the same shell ive made thsi shell and got it vac formed.
