DEX408 Possible Arrival?

When is this expected to be released?

Im considering a change from 1/10th and to 1/8th EP and this looks stunning so far!

HarlowS 22-10-2011 11:07 AM

Have you not learnt anything about asking for release dates ????

captainlip 23-10-2011 07:13 AM

I cant wait for this it looks awesome, quitting 1/10th to race 1/8ths the tracks look so much more fun that 10ths.

on RcTech they have been expecting it since 2010 some people have been waiting ages!

With pleasure! They may have a sense of humor there! :D

I reckon they'll have it out about a month before Christmas, get everyone chomping at the bit wanting it, work them all up into a frenzy then release it at the busiest time of year... They're not stupid are they !

totally agree but happen to also believe the serpent crew are working with durango as it was on the same stand :D

I dont mind waiting a few weeks yet as I have some funds to gather for this beauty

mark christopher 23-10-2011 09:41 PM

Yeah I spotted that, also saw the Serpert shots for their 8th car a while back, now seen the shots of the new 408, wondering how similar they are ? Is there some sort of design / manufacturing process with the two of them or is it pure coincidence ???

What date you have you penciled in on your calendar, for when you would consider buying a 811e ?

We would all be upset if you were to changed your date on us.:lol::lol:

captainlip 24-10-2011 07:09 AM

I'm holding out for the Durango.

captainlip 24-10-2011 03:42 PM

I cant help but think this will come after the DEX410R V3 is released, JE spares have the R V3 on the website for preorder but have no sign of the DEX408

mark christopher 24-10-2011 06:46 PM

some guys in the states are already running them 408e

If you're talking about Randy Pike, he's sponsored by Durango, and of course Ryan Lutz is as well.

news from luntz

E-Buggy (DEX408)

The “Do you still have to keep the body on it?” machine. This class was an up-and-down weekend for me. In Q1 I was on a good run but I got into some traffic and made a couple mistakes on my own and would get 2nd place. In Q2 I had a battery wire come unsoldered. In Q3 I broke a rear aluminum turnbuckle. So I ended up fourth in the B-main. Luckily they were doing bump-ups even for electric, so that night as the last race of the night I ran and won the B-main to take a spot into the A-main.

In A1 I moved up quickly from my 13th spot on the grid and was in fifth on the first lap. I would continue to work my way up until I was second and closing in on the leader. He would make a couple of mistakes and I would get by and cruise on to a nice victory. In A2 I got a good start again. About four laps in I was in third and went over the back ski jump and my battery wire came undone again. This put all the pressure on A3. In A3 I was able to have another good start. Quickly moving up. Pettit had a rough early lap and I got by him about two laps in and moved up to second behind Ruona. I drove within inches of his bumper for a lap and he eventually made a mistake and I got by and cruised on to a nice victory and overall win!

My DEX408 was pretty good all weekend. I worked hard on figuring out the shock package I wanted to run on the Nitro car and basically just piggy-backed my shock set-up onto my DEX408. In the end it felt decent and I am again pleased with another victory with the soon-to-be-released DEX408.

announcement from 2007

Quote:

Serpent is very pleased to officially announce that Gerd Strenge, better known as Mr Durango from Germany, has entered into a long-term cooperation with Serpent, for the development of offroad rc racing cars.

...

Serpent's R&D team and Gerd Strenge are now working together on a number of projects for the offroad market, but it will take some time before you will see the actual cars being introduced. Although proto-types have been running for a while already.

Cheers Snook, that explains a lot then...

captainlip 27-10-2011 08:20 AM

ive been looking at the dnx408 conversion and its poo  the center diff is so far to one side the driveshafts are all over the place.

Roll on the DEX

eyeayen 27-10-2011 09:44 PM

So the Mugen isn't going to tempt you away ?

How about shocks matt? you never got those sorted, infact do you ever have a buggy long enough to learn how to set it up? because from what ive seen its always the buggy thats at fault and not the newbish driver and his dreadful attempt of setting cars up :woot:

That depends on what conversion you're talking about. I know for sure that the DEX will be better, but a converted DNX(at least mine with the italian conversion) works really good.

captainlip 28-10-2011 12:16 AM

the mid driveshafts are in a V position having more stress than required.

the durango version will be spot on!

I sense coleman has a jealousy thing going on here  hes to greed and but cant run three cars!

its an all the gear no idea situation with him :thumbsup: if i learnt to setup a car/buggy rather than seeing how many different buggies he can own he could be a better driver....shame

That means the Losi drivetrain is real bad then, yet anyone can tell you how good a Losi is.

I never compared it to a Losi drivetrain, all I said was its no the most ideal way to have the driveshafts. why is it so hard to understand

was taken from the durango blog and comments HE made about the 408, after all there is very little news to go on.

HarlowS 28-10-2011 09:11 AM

You actually said the the conversion kits were rubbish as it made the centre diff too far to the side and makes the drive shafts all over the place.......

But the conversion kit doesnt alter any of it. Thats how the Nitro runs and have you heard any problems with the DNX408 ??? They seem to go ok to me.

Fair play then but its nice to see the 408 are running them in line.
