New Winter Venue

Hi, Me and Pete have managed to find a possible solution over winter if it suits? We would be able to hire Counthill school sports centre. It would be available every Sunday and we would be entrusted with the keys so start and finish times would be flexible. we would have loads of storage space under lock and key. The main sports hall is approximately 35m x 19m this could be used solely for the track and rostrum as there are plenty of other areas to pit inc 2 basketball courts, changing rooms and additional side rooms. we would also have the keys to the main car-park so off road parking would be no problem. We have managed to negotiate the cost down to £210 per day which I think is quite reasonable??? Unfortunately I will not be able to attend tomorrow but I have spoken to Stuart and he will bring it up at the meeting.

ps just took delivery of my new Durango DEX10 today so looking forward to 8 weeks of late nights and frustration!!!!!!! Hope I've managed to build it before next summer :bored:

A Big Track

Am I wrong or could that be a track of over 150 Metres long at 2Metres wide..

Rob Foster 11-10-2011 10:43 PM

Roger as usual you confuse me :lol: the area is 665 square metres.150 x 2 = 300 ??? :confused::confused::confused:

losichris 11-10-2011 10:52 PM

Sounds good, however will enough people turn up to cover the hire expense, with all the indoor venues that are dotted around the northwest?
I hope so.......

Rob Foster 11-10-2011 11:13 PM

That's a fair point but we are bury metro and we should have our own venue! Maybe other members from other clubs will join us:thumbsup:I know of a few other people that have shown interest in the club so maybe we could pick up a few more members! Maybe we could ask for payment for the next meet on the previous week ensuring cost coverage. If there is no interest nothing lost.

30 racers paying £7 per head would cover the cost of the venue but what about the gaffer tape!!:woot:

Don't tell me !!!
....................."Buds Balls does Gaffer Tape"

We've got a few rolls left from Coney Green. Should be enough for a few meetings.

The race controller 13-10-2011 02:59 PM

It's a YES

The AGM voted for the venue last night. First race to be 30 OCT.(Provisionaly) (Calendar to be sorted)
We have to clean some storage space and move the stuff from Radcliffe Riverside where we raced last year.

Winter racing

It will be real winter racing up there. its 290m above sea level.
Not much chance of flooding like goshen.

4_cell_racer 13-10-2011 11:03 PM

If it's a winter series will it be once a month meeting? Or are you guys looking to run every week?

I know I'd be up for attending for a winter series (once a month) with poss a few other guys from my area too

Forgot to ask...... Will there be any ramps/jumps at the indoor venue?

Si Coe 13-10-2011 11:06 PM

Pretty much every other week.

Rog has drawn up a calendar but its not confirmed yet.

And yes to jumps - we are an offroad club!

4_cell_racer 13-10-2011 11:16 PM

Thanks for the speedy response Si :D

Will keep a eye out for the dates, will they be posted on here?

i would be new to the club as i only started racing a few months a go and Chris B told me about the new indoor and i was really excited about where it is as i currently live 10 mins away but hopefully moving to just around the corner when it all goes through.

So what time are the starts going to be at Counthill School (Waterhead Academy).

bigred5765 24-10-2011 10:27 AM

as long as it doesn't clash without roger we would come its not a million miles away, any pics of inside venue?

coleman758 24-10-2011 11:41 AM

I know we are not running it while Chadderton are racing

deano261 24-10-2011 11:59 AM

ah ok i held out on signing up for next one in case it clashed and its all booked up now oh well

Darren Wales 24-10-2011 02:25 PM

Deano,

If you only started racing a couple of months back, starting off a few meeting at our indoor venue should give you the confidence to have a go at one of the Chadderton meetings (if you can get a spot).

We are hoping that by ensuring we don't clash with Chadderton, we may even get some guys dropping in from the Batley series too.

See you there Sunday.

I will try and get Rob Foster to post some pics of the sports hall on here beforehand.

Darren

There should be electric so bring an extension. We might well be pitting in a different room though.

Not sure on the start time though. I believe the first one will be a little later starting than future meets, but can't remember what we decided on!

Rob Foster 27-10-2011 11:54 AM

We have moved all the equipment to counthill this morning so all is good :)

I will be turning up at 9am Sunday along with another 4 lads. It would be good if someone with some knowledge of setting up the track could be there to give us some instruction otherwise it will be a total shambles

It would also be a good idea for people to bring an extension lead if they plan on charging by mains as there are a limited amount of sockets available.

If anyone has any ideas on any signs that might be needed eg a banner outside the venue, cool printed vinyl for the jumps, Hi Vis printed with Marshall club name and maybe the persons name on the front whatever ideas anyone has I will be happy to oblige F.O.C (Lets make this venue the dogs!)

coleman758 27-10-2011 12:03 PM

Thanks Rob!

Sure we can sort something! I will get there just before 9am
so we can get the track laid out.

Lets have some good clean racing Sunday!

Whiskers 27-10-2011 02:18 PM

coleman758 27-10-2011 02:21 PM
