3. There will be 2wd Clubman racing on Sunday for anyone who entered for the 2wd Clubman racing on Saturday.

MiCk B. 08-12-2011 09:35 PM

Yep.

All sorted for tomorrow. There were 4 big boxes waiting for me when I got home today. So as stocked as I can be for tomorrow!

Pub, they're not difficult to find over here!!

There was a lot of work up into the track over the last few weeks. So it's a good start to what will hopefully be a great week-end.

What a fantastic days racing

Many many thanks to all involved in organising this event, you have done yourself and the DMCC club proud.

Special thanks to the 'girls' in the kitchen, kept us fed all day with great food and home made chips:drool:

As an average club racer it was great to see some of the 'big' names (you know who you are) racing at our track, it was an education just seeing how clean & clinical each lap was :D

and it's not over, more fun tomorrow with 4WD :woot:

Hi all,

Winter Race Ireland is over for 2011 and it has been the successful event that we all wanted. A team of people put in alot of work to stage this race meeting and I just want to acknowledge the people who, without whom, the event would not have been nearly a good over the weekend.

Vicky Fagan, Club Secretary, for arranging the hire of equipment including table and chairs, purchase of food and sundries, and for feeding all of the competitors for what must have seemed a solid 48 hours. Vicky also recruited Eileen to help in the kitchen all weekend. Well done to you both

Graham Parkes, Comittee Member, for being instrumental in the sourcing of raw materials for the track, especially the astro, and for putting in some late nights setting the track and pitting area up. Graham also ran a large chunk of the meeting over the weekend

Ian Hunter and Michael Bolger , for using their contacts in "a supermarket" and Brennan's Bread to acquire all the food sold at the right price and getting it to the venue.

Michael O'Leary, Race Director, for enforcing the rule book over the weekend and ensuring a fair, highly competitive meeting took place.

Tony Kavanagh and Iris Van Echepoel for stepping in (really at the last moment) to take on some of the duties at Race Control - much appreciated.

Thankyou also goes to Ken Gordon, Dave Bolger, Derek McCloskey, Robin Schumacher, RC Bearings.co.uk, David Home, and our landlord James McNally.

The biggest thankyou, however, goes to the ordinary racers who made up their mind to support the event early on and traveled an extraordinary distance to do so. The A-Finals in all four classes were epic and of the highest standard to say the least which really puts WINTER RACE IRELAND as a "must do" event for 2012.

See you next year

William White

Meath77 12-12-2011 11:18 AM

From what I could see, every last detail was organised amazingly well. Looking forward to next years already.
I think I can speak for everyone, but the highlite of the weekend was the 2wd B clubman finals :D

Amazing how small the track looks in the Video!

Mugenextreme 14-12-2011 05:23 PM

i had the same thought. i think its just the angle. Had the video been from the rostrum it would not have looked that way i would say.

It may look small but the cars are still flying round that track. It was hard to run at that pace for a few laps let alone 7 runs of 5mins

Already looking forward to coming back next year

MiCk B. 14-12-2011 05:59 PM

And we're looking foreword to you coming back.

It was a relief to see all the hard work that so many put in, come together, in the week-end.

Thanks for supporting the first race.

Wasn't that many people really behind the main organisation of the event.

Vicky Fagan, Michael O'Leary, Ian Hunter, Graham Parkes, and myself were the core team who put the event together with the assistance of the rest of the DMCC committee and the Club President.

I'd like to thank every single club member that did their small bit to help, whether it was getting cabling for the loop, getting the food, building the rostrum, putting up banners, sweeping the track, helping in the kitchen, tidying up afterwards, or presenting the trophies etc. etc. Loads of people pulled in favours from family and friends to make the event a success. Good team effort

Roll on next year....
