Information for UK/Foreign competitors

Hi all,

Thank you so much to all of the competitors from the UK, Belgium, and Holland that have entered the event so far - I hope to get the entry list updated by the weekend...... We still have 20+ places left.

Here is some further information for travelling competitors;

1. www.citynorthhotel.com - we have a special rate of 66.50 Euros (about £55) per room per night. Each room has a double and a single bed and can comfortably sleep two. This is a nice hotel with good bar food served late and is recommended. You will need to phone the hotel to book, quoting "Dublin Model Car Club" to the receptionist (phone: +353 1 690 6666) The City North Hotel also does airport transfers for 7.00 Euros per person (must be pre arranged), with special rates for groups.

2. Sending hauler bags ahead and fly - if you register with http://www.worldwide-parcelservices.co.uk/ (I use it all the time) we can supply a delivery address and your bags will meet you at the track or hotel. It costs about £18 - £40 each way (UK) depending on how much of the kitchen sink you take.

3. Getting from Hotel to Track - If you decide not to hire a car, we can arrange to have a club member collect you from the your hotel by special arrangement. Obviously, if 40 drivers try to avail of this, we will have to organise a bus and have everyone pitch in a few euros - either way, the need for a hire car is minimal unless you wish to visit the city.

4. Ferries - If you decide to drive from the UK or continent, we have a special 10% discount with Stena-line that we can extend to you. Have a look at www.stenaline.ie and decide on your sailing times and then get in touch and I can sort it for you.

5. Heating - we are hiring two kerosene burning space heaters for the event to heat up the track area. It will still be fairly cool due to the size of the space - so come prepared. There will be plenty of hot food available on Sarurday and Sunday and hot drinks all days. There is a portion of the building between the track and kitchen that has hot radiators in it, so nobody should find it too chilly :)

Really looking forward to this event!
Regards,

William White

It will be Noah's Ark you will be looking for and not a flight if this weather continues.

Belsten 23-10-2011 10:35 PM

As long as its cheap :woot: And sharing a room with Griff & Stants is the same as sleeping with animals

GRIFF55 24-10-2011 05:37 AM

Do you want me to post the recording of the various zoo noises you make during the night whilst sleeping bav? ;)

Legacy555 24-10-2011 08:03 AM

On the first page of this thread there is info for drivers from the UK.
But to give you a sample of the costs

Flying to the meeting per person
Flight out: Birmingham 0810hrs Fri 9/12/2011 with Aer Lingus to Dublin
Flight back: Dublin 2010hrs Sun 11/12/2011 with Aerlingus
Total cost is GBP £59 (EURO 70) (quote from 21st October)
Hotel - 2 nights sharing - EURO 66.50
DHL Hauler Bag (30kg) return EURO 60
Hire Car - 3 Days, inc fuel - EURO 120
*** TOTAL COST*** - around 310 Euro

Taking the Ferry the meeting per person
Ferry (return) based on two sharing the cost (saloon car) EURO 145
Hotel - 3 nights sharing - EURO 100.00
Petrol/Diesel from Birmingham return EURO 80
*** TOTAL COST*** - around 325 Euro

Very little between flying and ferrying!!
Flying might suit those who have a tight time window and who are not into road trips and seeing a bit of Dublin whilst your here.

That's a pitty, hopefully you'll make it next year.

Tom Cockerill is the latest top UK driver to be linked to the event. Hopefully he drags a few more drivers with him

The track is currently under construction. The tabletop/rythm section is built and now covered in carpet - hopeing to get the rest of the jumps built this week. You can't see all of the straight in this pic, but its 30m long, and each lane is a minumim of 2.4m wide..... So it is in fact alot bigger than the photo suggests :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Cockerill 30-10-2011 03:47 PM

We definitely wouldn't invite UK and continental drivers to come unless we were going to put on a top-class show. No drivers coming over for this will be disappointed!!!

Get your entries in now!! http://www.dublinmodelracing.com/winter
