Which 4WD buggy
I cuerrently have xxx4 and was looking to upgrade to a newer buggy. I heard the b44 has alot of breakages. I was thinking of getting a zx5 and upgrading it to carbon. Should i wait for some new buggies or get a zx-5, b44 or bj4?
|
theres always the x5s made by xfactory which i may ad that im selling 2 in the forsale section;) cheap

Tamiya TRF-501X is a great car. Parts are hard to find in stock in your local shop so you will have to invest a little in parts from across the pond. But it is easy to drive and doesn't mind being over driven. It is pricey but it is a very strong car. It is hopped up when you buy it.
If you want a car where you can find the parts on the wall get a B44. Good luck with what ever you buy. |

I took it to 4th at the F3's the other year, and the event was won by a ZX5, so go figure? It's strong, cheap for spares, and a nice neutral handling car with plenty of forgiveness. |
Turn it into an SP version and I honestly believe the ZX5 is world class ... and so does everybody who has driven mine!
The driver just needs to get some more practice ... :D |
Dont get a xx4 unless you can line your pockets with shock towers and crap wishbones ;)
And yes i do drive one  |
but they dont break if you dont crash
|
Wanna bet? Someone on the weekend broke a brand new shock tower without even rolling the car once.
I broke a front one without a crash. They are being poorly/cheaply made. |

you'll never look back |
dosnt the x5 use the same towers?
southwell you bell you know what to do with the towers Kev shoowed you. |
If broke on the camber link pick up points, exactly the same as it did at the f3's, the two holes just fell apart.
|
Thats gay, you might need dan greenwood carbon plates then.
|
Try pre-tapping the holes with the Losi tapping screw, or even better a 4-40 tap available from Nortech ;)
|
I already do.
The last one i had actually already had one outer hole broken apart already.... |
just admit it Southwell !!! your an animal ...;)

i have to say at the f3s he didnt crash once yet 3 towers snapped
|
I had a graphite front one, and it never broke, and graphite front wishbones, and they never broke either!
However... It was probably the original one that came with the car, so it was at the time that they were being made PROPERLY!!! |

Parts availability was one reason I chose the b44. I was the sort that would always want 'something different' but that came at a price like parts unavailability and zero support. Also I have bought from manufacturers here today and gone tomorrow so that just made my stuff obsolete. The lesson I learned was 'buy the product that is most supported.'
If you dont mind ordering spare parts online then the sky's the limit. Besides the b44 looks sexy. |
for front tower i dont tap the hole si just simply use long ball studs and nortec small blue locknuts on the end so it spreads the force around so it reduces chance of breaking havent broken one since infact i havent broken any shock towers yet the only thing ive broken on my xx4 is front wishbones, front bulkheads and a front caster block. Other than that havent broken anything.

my god how did you do all that post with only one full stop.
Ash, im with you on the nut and larger ball studs , howver i had seen towers crack horizontaly through the camber holes even with this done |
