LOL, Judguing by the pre-orders in the first two hours only, you and many others I think.....

racingben 15-09-2011 11:32 AM

Looks very good.

Carisma wheels and tyres and the shocks look identical too

Gear diffs interesting wonder if they can be oil filled?

Will make the micro nationals more mixed.

Will the be an issue with the car being badged 1/14 scale? I would assume that doesn't matter as long as it fits in the box?

styleone 15-09-2011 11:57 AM

Losi 1/14th ;)

How crazy! I had a conversation the other day with my colleague regarding why Losi, with their love and history of making micro/mini platforms don't do a buggy to compete at this scale!! and what do you know? there she is :woot:

The 1/14th tag may cause some strange class splits at club level but as others have said...if dimensionally it fits in the Micro x restrictions....its in

I just hope they have gone with the build values of the new 1/10 scale models (22 & 22T) and not just bashed out a quick ready to run 'hobby' job...although I see an ali chassis so we could be good with this little puppy.

Look forward to seeing it in the flesh...well the plastic and ali really

rcdunk 15-09-2011 12:03 PM

carisima was originally badged up as a 14th scale till chris and the micro section had a word lol and as it fitted in the box was all good looks around the same size as the gt14b same motor layout as a shark should go well

To be honest, the "scale" now in micro racing is inappropriate. As long as a buggy meets the measurments they could call it a 1/5th scale if they like.

The name alone of the GT14B tells you what scale it was when it came out, it was "just by chance ;)" inside the newly laid out rules regards dimensions, so it fits, I am sure the Losi will be very much the same when it comes.....

Surprised none of the micro lads let this one out of the bag before today to be honest.

racingben 15-09-2011 12:35 PM

Esc and motor look like the carismas too. Different colour heatsink on the esc but otherwise same size and layout.

MK Racing 15-09-2011 12:59 PM

Looks very nice, hopefully some more of the indoor 10th clubs will start running a class for 1/14th now

Gnarly Old Dog 15-09-2011 12:59 PM

These are a lot of fun. Check out the video here.

Can't wait to have a proper play myself:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I would just like to add that the Micro National dates are on the thread link below, entries close 10 days before each event, why not get booked in to race your new Losi

Just by chance.... And the year worth of emails/phone calls prior to its debut ;)
The GT14B was specifically to meet the BRCA Micro Section 1/16th rules prior to its release c

However, cab forwards shell ftw!

kaylon 15-09-2011 07:53 PM

Oh no's... now what do I do...??

I have a collection of Micro Losi and I love them!! ( I bash around my living roon all the time with my Micro T) was even considering a Mini T conversion if my Mini Madrat did not work...and now they announce this...!!

But I was really wanting a Carisma...poo...

ummm... If HPI announce a race spec 1:16th Micro I think my head will explode.

Do we have a summer season of Micro? if so I'm getting the Losi!!

Oh and will someone tell Losi, HPI etc just to make one scale of micro...this 1:14th and 1:16th crap is making my brain hurt :D

markwilliamson2001 16-09-2011 04:51 AM

Just looks like Carisma and Losi got together on this one. Question is, does it actually have any kickup on the front, unlike the current gt14b?
Even looks like carisma gearboxes from here as well...

racingben 16-09-2011 05:34 AM

Look at the losi picture gallery. Diff casings are not carisma ones. Could be the same internals though. The gt14 on road cars come with gear diffs so could be those.

Perhaps just not the Carisma you're used to seeing

racingben 16-09-2011 06:51 AM

Ok so the mk 2 looks like that then!

So likely that the carisma and losi roll bar set will be very similar then?

I think you're looking at the wrong dimensions in the rules, the er "larger of the micro scales" is a max width of 209mm:woot:
so it's spot on

Sportwerks RC was an Horizon Hobby brand which was rebadged Carisma cars.
So its no surprise to see the Carisma factory turning out a Losi Micro using their already proven running gear.

I much prefer the look of the Losi version to the Gt14B

Still not going back to Micro Racing though.

OldTimer 16-09-2011 12:19 PM

Looks a fun bit of kit, looking at the manual seems to be a small kickup on the chassis at the front end and no seals on the diff, so not sure if it would leak if oil filled.

Any idea what lipos would fit this ?.

DrPaul 16-09-2011 01:35 PM

mini 8ight

The You Tube video says the diffs are not sealed, so you cant use oil but you can pack them with grease.

lipo's - anything that'll fit an rc18. Can even get hardcase 1600 and 1800 on ebay (intellect lipo)

It looks like the kit is fitted with 6 2/3A nimhs so hardcase lipos will easily fit.

There are also a host of softcase Lipos that will fit, flightpower for example do 2150 40C and 50C lips which are ubber powerful.

Also I think Losi themselves do Lipos of the appropriate size, though I've not tried them personally.

styleone 09-10-2011 12:20 AM

mini 8ight towers?

So what's the general opinion on it having ali towers guys? Obviously stronger but bending ali hop ups is the thing that puts some off...I know Losi will be dealing with some high grade ali....chassis and hubss in ali makes sense...shock towers with no flex? Any thoughts? :)

markwilliamson2001 09-10-2011 06:56 AM

They already have carbon versions as options..

Robocop 09-10-2011 10:18 AM

ScottyDogWoof 12-10-2011 09:20 PM

I hear talk of a 28th of October reschedule to releases? Anybody got good info from Horizon? Feels like we are having a lot of these convos lately

rcdunk 19-10-2011 02:31 PM

I have heard both of the above dates mentioned from various pople at horizion they are either side of the same weekend so guessing it will be an arrive at horizion on the 28th ship to shops on the 1st arrive at shops on the 2nd for colection so those who have pre ordered will collect on tuesday that gives 4 evenings testing before the national at telford if you have time to spare I know of 3 evenings close enough to me to run at not that I will probably be just the 1 maybe 2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and this is all IF IT arrives when they say it will

RobChalmers 19-10-2011 02:39 PM

After last night's run, I'm almost confident about the pace and handling of the 8, just imagine what it'll be like with some talent behind the TX!
