F1 2011 - Who's ordered it?

My wife kindly ordered this for me as a wedding anniversary present so looking forward to getting it!

Apparently loads of updates & changes including safety cars, all bugs fixed and up to date cars / teams etc.

Can't wait to get it, I still enjoy F1 2010 to be honest even though the bugs got a bit annoying at times you just had to "play" around them haha.

Anyone else getting it??

Big G 13-09-2011 08:13 AM

tempted, but without a proper steering wheel it makes playing on a keyboard tricky.

I do wish they'd release a mac version too since you can buy it through steam now. just saves me using bootcamp.

sldmodels 13-09-2011 09:41 AM

Had mine ordered for months. Got a steering wheel for it too, but found the xbox controller was far easier. You can get console style controllers for pc's though.

Nick, when is it due? Was thinking about pre-ordering it for PS3 a while back, but forgot all about it!!

Should be out 23rd September so you may get it that day i'd guess??

acorn28 14-09-2011 06:30 AM

I've got it pre-ordered for ps3. Traded F1 2010 in for Gran Turismo earlier in the year, so really looking forward to getting hold of this one!

Carlos69 22-09-2011 08:31 AM

Picked mine up today - PS3... after an hour of running (post patch) am wishing I had a decent pc now more than ever :( .... still playable, the feel has improved.... but not the PS3's finest hour by a long shot (low res,low fps) anyone else got it yet ?

sldmodels 22-09-2011 01:48 PM

I thought it wasn't due till tomorrow? You're the second person to say they've got it, but the first person was Lewis Hamiltons brother Nic.

Carlos69 22-09-2011 01:58 PM

Official retail release was 15 hrs ago here in Oz :p

Liking it the more I play it .... DRS & KERS are a hoot ! :wub

Its being played as we speak, rotters, im at work and my mates are busy testing the game out Grrr! never mind come 5oclock I shall be there!!

sldmodels 22-09-2011 03:23 PM

I've got F1 2011 reserved on Xbox360 at Game, but I might just nip over to Asda at midnight to get a copy, tends to be cheaper there on release anyway.

sldmodels 22-09-2011 11:45 PM

I'm going to say it, I've played the game for 5 mins, done 2 laps of Montrel, I prefer F1 2010. Response is better on this one, but graphics we're better on the original.

DaSloth 23-09-2011 05:37 PM

Seriously? f1 2010 was ok, but so far this one feels much nicer and i reckon looks nicer too.

telboy 25-09-2011 07:08 PM

I've had for a day and there are two things to moan about.

1. The car just kicks into reverse whenever you have the brakes on when you spin. (ps3 controller)

2. .....am I right in thinking that they want to charge for online play?
I tried to go online and it asked for the redeem code in the case, which is only valid for one visit to online play?:eh?: I didn't take it up because it started asking for all my account details when I put it up.

deano261 25-09-2011 07:20 PM

I'm absolutely loving it at the moment and its definitely a step up from 2010 but my only gripe is the Force India doesn't look complete without the Whyte And Mackay Sponsors

sldmodels 25-09-2011 07:21 PM

the brake / reverse thing sounds like a bug, but it does kick in a bit too quick on xbox too, but only when you've stopped anyway (I know that sounds daft, but you should have to release the brake before applying again to reverse).

I'm getting to like it now, got to first qualy in 12th place, but my bug bare is something that'll only be sorted with an update I doubt will come, it pressumes everyone playing the game is male  and that's how it refers to drivers.

rondoolaa 25-09-2011 08:38 PM

i'm still playing F1 championship edition, owned F1 2010 for about 3 days then traded it in, wasnt that impressed with it, i hope 2011 is better ?

wacattack 25-09-2011 08:59 PM

Something they haven't sorted and really winds me up is cars on slow laps staying on the racing line when you are on a flying lap.

I'm finding the gameplay much harder than the last game. The last version I could get pole position with the lotus with all driving aids turned off bar automatic transmission. The new game I'm 3-4 seconds a lap off pole position in the same car.

HD projector and a 102" screen :D. A home cinema setup makes racing games a fully immersive experience. I have GT5 on my shopping list and looking into F1 2011 on PC.

Nick Goodall 26-09-2011 08:10 AM

I am really impressed so far!! Much harder than 2010 but that's a good thing, trying to get Kers and DRS working perfectly on a lap is a real challenge but that's another thing I really like, love the way the car feels like it's skating around with DRS open, and you really notice an increase in power when using the KERS button.

I think the graphics are far better, and overall feel is a huge improvement.

You can brake a lot lot later now too, that's one thing that did annoy me on 2010 so thumbs up from me so far!

pretty much the same for me too Wayne.
I also quali'd on pole in the lotus in the 2010 game, but really struggle with this one to be competetive....well, any further than around 15th anyway. :woot:

anyone been online with it yet on ps3? do you have to pay for the privelage?

DaSloth 27-09-2011 07:57 PM

check the box tel, the xbox edition came with a leaflet with a code to redeem so online ply was free,

Nas 27-09-2011 09:54 PM

Nas 16-10-2011 09:43 PM

9.91, that's very precise! :woot: What made it lose 0.09 and how did you quantify that exactly? :D

Precise is my middle name lol.

The thing which annoys me is that setting the DRS is very difficult. Works fine in qualifying and practice but in the race it takes time to set. That's about it, other than that its a brilliant and fun game.I would really recommend it

Thanks

Yes here is a link:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005CP34K...SIN=B005CP34K6

No you do not have to pay to play Online, IF YOU BUY A NEW GAME. Because it comes with a special online code, and if its o ready been used you can not use it again so you have to buy it from the PlayStation network or the internet.

Hope that helps

Thanks

dave g 18-10-2011 12:02 AM

well i had to have a go first before i dropped the money so downloaded it first :)

played on my pc spot on,60fps with eye candy on and its a real blast..going thru eau rouge with drs open is scary and ends in tears lol.

ive just ordered it now and should be here wednesday..anyone else play on the pc version?

sldmodels 18-10-2011 03:57 AM

I won't play certain games on the pc anymore, as you need to constantly have the dog's doo da's to play some games at a decent speed (Activision games being a prime example of that). Besides, 15 inch laptop screen, or 42 inch tv? Not a hard choice I think you'll find

dave g 18-10-2011 09:19 AM

23 inch monitor and steering wheel and pedals for me.
