"
THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL IPHONE4"

qouted from his ad on ebay.

Skye 02-09-2011 02:19 PM

That looks like trouble to me!

It looks slightly different to my iPhone 4, but then mine is black so that could partly explain it.

But then the specs :

Dual sim phone
Support memory card - iPhones do NOT support memory cards
Support full screen
Support GPRS
MP3 / MP4 player
E-book reader
Touch Screen
Bluetooth - iPhones only allow bluetooth for handsfree connectivity
Currency Converter
Stopwatch
MMS, WIFI
WHATS IN THE BOX:
1× Cellphone , 32GB Memory Card - Again, iPhone doesnt have memory card slots
1× Wired stereo earphones with built-in MIC and clip
2× Rechargeable Li-ion battery - iPhone is sealed, you cannot remove the battery
1× Phone to USB - iPhone doesnt have a USB connection
1× Power adapter

If I were you I would block any payment and run a mile from this!

Thanks for letting me now mate. I find it funny really. How he can put stuff like that on the listing when someone buys it LAST MINUTE. I never saw that THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL IPHONE4. It just came up when David wrote his message.., i haven't even payed him yet. He said pick it up. What are a complete ......

Skye 02-09-2011 02:29 PM

If its not already too late, dont make any payment.

If he tries to force you, point out to ebay that he amended the description after you had bid, therefore he was misleading you and advertising falsely. Turn it round on him so that he is the crook.

And if that fails, tell him to do one and make sure you keep your money/bank details firmly in your pocket.

raymondkerr 02-09-2011 02:29 PM

totally fake, wouldn't pay £8, never mind £180.

:o

When there are 2 sim holders in it, then it's alway's a Chinese copy, all the cell phones there has dual sim holders because they need to swith easily between Hong Kong network and mainland China.
You can buy this one for only 80$ direct in Hong Kong and it works very good.

Bart

I did buy a couple of 8gig ipod clones a year or so ago from hong kong over ebay. Think they come from exactly the same factory as the Apple versions, so are ipods in all but genuine software, but they we're something like £12 each with p&p, so it's worth the risk for something that doesn't cost all that much, but they never claimed to be ipods. It sounds like the seller is either trying it on, or he genuinely bought a fake ipnone 4 not realising, but fake or replica means they can justify charging what he appears to be. At the end of the day, you do pay for the name with these things, that's why you can get replicas of rc cars now for a fraction of what they we're based on are.

Yes indeed, most of the Apple, Samsung, HTC, etc is 70% from thesame factory's, it's really funny when people are fanatic about Apple or HTC and when you visit that company you seen a production of the 2 'brands' on thesame place with only a few meters between them.
I even saw once a factory where they made RC cars (a well know brand) and they made 10 meters further parts for another brand (also a very know one) so China is a small world ;)

Bart

it will be one of these i bet,

http://www.mart-shopping.com/s2-dual...wifi-java.html

you could always check in the settings to see if its original or go into an apple store and they will tell you, or call your service provider and quote them the imei (*#06#) and they should tell you what phone that imei belongs too

andys 03-09-2011 10:15 AM

Bloody hell. Didn't know these things existed !

Has anyone tried one, I'm tempted !

Southwell 03-09-2011 06:54 PM

No, you can stream audio now.

Bluetooth [B]- iPhones only allow bluetooth for handsfree connectivity

i tried one at a boot sale a while back, the touch screen isnt as responsive as the apple but still a good phone, you have 2 signals at the same time for each sim, and when you call it asks you which sim to call from, i'm gunna order 1 for my son,

rondoolaa 03-09-2011 09:48 PM

...........

Nas 03-09-2011 10:48 PM

Honestly guys. DON'T. These are bad quality phones which wont last very long and wont work most of the time.:thumbdown:

sldmodels 03-10-2011 02:00 AM

Any updates?

sldmodels 14-10-2011 10:37 AM

ok, I've bought two, one white and one black for me and my sister, who have the same phones anyway, the LG GT540 which is a load of crap anyway, so we're only going uphill. The phone itself is slightly smaller than an iPhone, the main round button has a slightly different feel, in fact all the buttons feel different, bit cheap, and on the back, obviously no Apple logo, but it does say

"Designed by Opplo in California Assembled in China" and then relevant numbers. Definitely cheaky and supposed to look like an iPhone, but I guess it is what it is, which is a Chinese copy for the Chinese market. Would like to be able to change the software to the Apple OS or even Android, but I don't know how to.

jmke 14-10-2011 11:19 AM

most likely the hardware is completely different that trying to run iOS or Andriod will result in total failure

sldmodels 14-10-2011 11:40 AM

I doubt it, as there most likely made in exactly the same factory.

It's not the hardware you pay for with an iPhone, it's the software and the continuing development that's the expensive part

No, it's the name you're paying for. There are better phones for less on the market - the 4s is generally accepted as a big sideways step, but fools will still buy it in their millions

sldmodels 14-10-2011 11:56 AM

They're not fools, they've been relaunched as iFools :p

it is the hardware you're paying for also since you can't run iOS on a non-apple device...

also the A4/5 chips are custom apple chips built to run on these devices. the relationship the apple iOS devices have between hardware and software is what makes them so good because apple have developed both to run perfectly instead of Samsung/HTC/etc building a phone and then Google building the OS.

This week there was a bench test between the Galaxy 2s vs the iPhone 4S on one of the many tech websites I visit. http://9to5mac.com/2011/10/11/800mhz...ung-galaxy-s2/

In a nutshell, 1.5ghz of cpu in the Samsung against 800mhz in the iPhone and there wasn't anything in it in terms of real world tasks.

So apple have developed a chip which can do everything Samsung's chip can do using half the clock speed.

I am an Apple fanboy so naturally my option will sway their way :wub

so it's twice as fast as the 4. sidestep indeed :)

Probably just that the Samsung chip is an overkill and all you need is an 800mhz for most applications.
