Gear diff
Anyone know if its going to be available soon only seen aug-sept due fir release same time as rtr 22 would like it for f2 finals
|
Not saying that it definitely won't come in but with the F2's now less than a week away, I believe you will need to be prepping your car to run the ball diff.
In all honesty, no availability date can be guaranteed until the part is in stock which, when I checked last Friday, it was not. I wouldn't expect to see the diff until at least the 22RTR is in the shops so I would use that as the initial indicator. Sorry if this disappoints - but at least you still have 5 days to prep your car accordingly for the event next weekend. See you there :-) |
You could always run the AE gear diff out of an SC10, B4.1 or T4.1. I just set my new car up this way and will be trying it out this Wednesday. I think it will need to be worn in before it starts running good though as the tranny is a bit stiff (its 1 extra tooth), but running it in for a while with a drill helped, I think a race night should loosen it up. I never put any shims in for side to side play in the mid motor trans but some say its needed.
|
why would you put a bigger gear in there just wait for the losi gear diff don't ram something that wasn't made for it in there?
|
because I wanted a gear diff now, and many others have done it...
|
Ok first of all you don't have to ram it in there, it's only 1 tooth more than stock :p mine fit's perf. and loving :wub my AE sc10 gear diff. So don't worry and buy one already, you will never go back I tell you...
Yo will also need som 10x12x0.2 shims 4 on each side of the diff for countering play... ;) |
mine didn't even need shims in the mid motor case and it has no play.
|
Any news on the gear diff.

SC10
I'm fed up with waiting for the losi unit which is now 3 months 'late' so have ordered a SC10 diff. What weight diff oil are you guys running?
|
On carpet i would run 2000 to 3000 depending on setyp and track. same on astro.
|
Hi guys, so if we were to use the SC10 gear diff we should get all this 3 items to run in the 22?
1. SC10 diff gear & cover http://www.tp-racing.com/images/ae_parts/9828_md.jpg 2. SC10 gear diff rebuild kit http://www.tp-racing.com/images/ae_parts/9829_md.jpg 3. SC10 gear diff outdrive http://www.tp-racing.com/images/ae_parts/9830.jpg |

I think the part # people will be looking for is the "gear diff complete" = LOSA2954 - it'll be cheaper than buying individual parts bags also. |
anyone try the gear diff on dirt?
|
The 22 RTR kits arrived into stock this morning, so we we now expect the gear diffs to be here later this week with the spares delivery......
|
Fingers crossed they are here ready for stotfold:thumbsup:
|
Do this diff mount on mid motor configuration too? Is it ok for carpet or not? I come from 1/8 gas so ball diffs are not so friendly to me.... :(:(

losi22 geared diff
does the 22 rtr geared diff need to be greased or oiled if so with what? will the clear diff grease for the standard diff be ok????:eh?:
Ps got mine from DMS Racing if you're interested!! |
Got mine from dms, with some Hiro seiki metal gear grease. Will be building it up over the next couple of days or so;)
Ps thanks DMS:thumbsup: |
Jay you could do with some diff grease in there but without running it yet i can't recommend anything as yet, although i would imagine something fairly thin is best so leass than 5000wt
Cheers George Fairweather |
I agree, rallyx diff oils, anything above 5000 starting to get very heavy.I will prob start around 1000,2000:thumbsup:
|
hi what advantage will the gear diff give you????

geared diff
feels a hell of alot smoother to me but what do i know i'm just a spastic that cant build diffs!!
|
Your just to fussy Jay:p
Lower maintenance sounds like an advantage to me, and it should be more consistant if it seals well. The losi diff does needs very regular maintenance to keep it tip top, even with decent balls. |

Has anyone run the diff yet?
Built it up with metal gear grease, anyone used diff oil? I have built mine up but need to tighten the screws, what size hex driver...cannot get to the back of the garage to rifle through my stuff ...got a feeling that the screws are imperial. |
prob gonna be 1.5 mm wrench. I would put 3000 wt diff oil in it to start
|
I was told it was not a proper sealed diff, although quite clearly the number of rubber washers indicate otherwise. Still lighter than a ball diff using the grease.
|
it should be a properly sealed gear diff but the looks of the orings
|
my ball diff have been running well after i change it to ceramic balls but this thing just arrived from the LHS and i just have try it oiled and run it outdoor track n see how it goes over the weekend..

We have had a 40/60 split of customers wanting to just build the diff "once" and never see it again (thats the 40%) and if that suits them what is wrong with that? Early indications form Losi were that it was not even going to be a sealed unit when it arrived which would have meant grease only but as it turns out they deciedd to make it sealed. |
