Today@Broxtowe
I would just like to say thanks and a big well done to all the lads from Broxtowe for laying on todays meeting. I know a lot of time and effort was put into setting it up.
Thought the track was first class, some really good jumps, features etc. And it drove well, a real drivers track. It was the clubs first attempt at indoors offroad and they did a great job. I know the lads on the commity would be grateful for any feedback from people who attended todays meet, likes and dislikes? |
Thought the track was excellent and rewarded careful driving so even those of us with low powered cars / inexperiece / lack of natural talent, could do OK.
Great job by the committee and can't wait for the next round - might even persuade the Tamiya to keep its shocks together! |
yep got to agree that todays meeting was a huge success and the broxtowe commitee did a grand job of putting on the first broxtowe indoor meeting
i too cannot wait until the next round, lets hope its even better. |
Well done to the winners in both classes, Ian Plimmer took the 2wd and Adam Skelding the 4wd.
|
Totally agree , great day ,wicked track.Well done committe. Also well done Gaz Tomlinson for clearing the double jump in his final!.
|
Nice One!
Congratulations on a well run event today @ Broxtowe club, indoor off road meeting, held at Greasley.
All drivers & spectators seemed to enjoy the day.:D As a spectator i really enjoyed it, apart from the start of the A final 4WD, in which my son was wiped out from behind, starting 5th on the grid, going into the hairpin, overtaking by driving over the back of you aint really a valid overtaking move, a little bit of driver etiquette was in order, but never mind. Looking forward to the next event. Everreadyrich |
Did anybody get any photo's then?
|
Sorry to hear about the wipe out, in any final drivers should just aim to get the first few corners clean before attempting over taking moves.
Knowing Johno was 6th off, must admit I was nervous being 4th on the Grid. |
its allways a gamble at the start of a final and it does take a few laps for all to settle down.

Lets not worry to much about the starts we had.
Is there anything the club could improve on for next time? Constructive chriticism? |
Some photos.

My thanks to every one who helped with the meeting today from making all the jumps, designing the track, setting it up, putting away, helping with transport, putting away at hall park etc etc etc..
You all made it the success that it was and I personally thank you all.:wub We had a great days racing and I only hope it can go from strength to strength. I also thank everyone who turned up as without racers we could have never had the meeting. I hope you all enjoyed it and come back in March. Hopefully we can have a few more turn up next month and really get the place buzzing!:woot: Anyway, heres some more pictures for you. I only wish I had time to take more and get some better shots. Ahhh, maybe next time eh!:D |
was a good day , and enjoyed it very much so well done to all who made it happen,
cant really criticize anything about the track at all but maybe something to think about in the future? put the wall of death so when you come off it your against a wall. I saw so many times drvers overcook on the exit to the wall, and almost take the marshalls out at head height !!!!! and at the speed they come off could cause serious injury. |

must agre with spoolio as i did think the two jumps off after the hairpin were a bit steep especialy the second one, maybe this was due to the lack of transition,it might of been better if it was the same as the first one
|
Dunno what "transition" means but I felt that I didn't get chance to get going again after the first jump and consequently sort of "fell-off" the second one. Also couldn't take too much speed into it anyway as you were landing, braking and turning at the same time blah blah blah (I am selectively quoting from "The Racing Drivers Big Book Of Excuses" by Jenson Button). Generally though it was still a great track given how small the hall area actually is.
|
Lol @ 'the pink kyosho'
On the pitting situation it was a bit tight but the hall is not the biggest and I know the club wanted to make the track as big as possible. There is a second smaller hall that I know they tried to hire for pitting to make the track bigger but unfortunatly its booked up for the next few months. But for next winter no doubt they will get it booked well in advance. I can see your guys points on the jumps, do you think just using the one of them would work better? There is a smaller jump that we use on the outdoor track? Don't think it was used today, does the club still have it? |

Maybe tone down the second jump then. But on the whole the track was spot on, very well designed, 49 drivers attended todays meeting and i'm sure there will be more at the next one.
|
Brilliant day today! Really enjoyed it and was very impressed with the track and the use of the available space. Obviously a lot of effort had been put in by BMCC and heard only posative comments about the track. In regards to the jumps being too big, I think maybe they were but would of been fine if they had a down ramp. I think with jumps that big you do need a down ramp otherwise you get cars slapping on the ground causing unpredictable bouncing!
But overall really impressed and thanks to BMCC for a great day. Looking forward to the next one. |
WEll i thought the track was good. I had the unlucky pleasure of being able to run both 4wd and 2wd after i broke the 4wd after round 3. For round 4 and the final the 2wd actually felt better around the track than the 4wd. It just seamed to flow more :woot:
My only critisium of the track would be that it was dangerious marshelling at point 1 after the wall. quite a few times i had to quickly move out of the way. As also previously said the secound jump did seam a bit wired to land off, maybe it was just a tad to steep. Also i am unsure about the mat being needed after the table top cus it just seamed to lunch you if you did over jump the table top, and it was then also quite dangerious marshelling from point 1 as you were unsure what cars were coming over the table top. Please don't take these comments as a negative as i did really enjoy the track it's just a few things to think of for next time  |
First of all - A BIG Well done the the Broxtowe club for putting on a first class event. To say the track was their first 'go' at indoor off road it was very good, if not excellent.#
Puts quite a few more established clubs to shame. The meeting was well run and the use of space was spot on. My only niggle would be the 2nd ramp after the hairpin, it could do with being shallower. Another possibility which I mentioned to Alan was to maybe use rolled up carpet underneath the carpet to create a series of jumps (Maybe 2 doubles). Using a flexible piece of wood under the carpet is usually enough to give a good ramp effect. Also it keeps the height of the cars down and puts more emphasis on rythmn. The crossover was ace. Easy to see through and a challenge to get right and fast. OK the mat afterwards was a bit of a springboard. But you didn't have to jump that far, landing on the downslope of the crossover was much quicker... TBH: Well impressed with the layout and meeting in general, I'll be back for sure. |
I believe the matts after the crossover were Mr Sharps idea ;) Anyways I reckon the track was great apart from the two ramps after the back straight, if they were a shallower angle they would be a lot easier to manage plus the cars will fly further meaning you would probably only need one. Great track though challenging and definatly flowing. Personally I think that sleeping policeman would be better under the carpet to.
Well done guys. |
Your right Rob the mats after the cross over were my idea, I thought they were needed to protect cars when clearing the table top/cross over but it just made cars bounce on landing. Don't think it was a bad thing though from a safty point of view because it stopped people getting big air and forced you to use the down ramp which was long enough to use anyway. As Adam said hoping over the top and landing on the down ramp was the quickist way of doing it, you were able to accelerate on landing into the wall of death, it was very nice to drive.
A rythmic section in replacement of the big jumps or at least the steep one sounds a good idea. |
Track layout and comments
:DThanks to all again. I am one proud club chairman I can tell you!!!
We will listen to all comments regarding the track as we really want to improve for next time. That second jump will not be used as it was last time, if at all without some modification anyway. Please continue to let us know what you think as we can't improve without drivers feedback.:thumbsup:Date of next meeting 2nd March.:thumbsup: |
