JohnM 25-01-2008 06:22 PM

What do you think Masami thinks of Micheal Schumacher's 7 titals, just a nice start?

I met him at the 93 Worlds at Basildon, very polite even though I caught him coming out of the toilet, scribbled all over the copy of RRC or whatever mag I had at the time, still have it somewhere:)

Masami=THE MAN

Chequered Flag Racing 25-01-2008 06:57 PM

he needs to get some of that on ebay :D

Elliott Hopkins 25-01-2008 07:00 PM

He's got a little pile of transmitters too.

I'd love to see his pile of batteries.

big air 25-01-2008 07:05 PM

Thought he had a name of being a bit of a "DIRTY" driver if he couldn't get through :o

DCM 25-01-2008 07:12 PM

he took no prisoners when he was going through.... still an awesome guy and talent to be on top of his game for so long in electric, although the TC Title has always eluded him

Belsten 25-01-2008 07:34 PM

I saw him at Basildon 93. He had a whole suitcase full of cells. 3 layers of them. His old man was so bored he built him a new rc10 and then was trying to throw bolts in to a socket of an electric driver he had. Truly awesome

Chris Harte 25-01-2008 08:40 PM

I wonder how much his monthly RC bill is?
Must be a fair few bob.

ashleyb4 25-01-2008 08:43 PM

doubt he spends much at all maybe he buys some sandwiches as he has been one of the top driver for the last what 20, 30 years???? he proberly is given about the same ammount of kit we get per year in a month

Hahahahahahahahahaha poor bloke, just after being in those awful toilets hehehehe, well I have to admit it as well he is a very nice individual and I cant think of anyone (ok take it back Brian Kinwald is the same, and what a noce bloke) who promotes this hobby as well. A great ambassador for the sport.

He came over at the worlds warm ups with a bag of tires and asked what I was using (it was raining heavily and I guess he hadnt raced in the rain before as I lapped him a couple of times each round in four warm up races, (and David Belsten beat him as well and convincingly), but no contest considering we were used to racing in the rain almost every weekend, so had the advantage.

Craig Harris was a bit rude to him (Harris was pitting with me and what a laugh it was with him, Dave Belsten, Jon Leonard and Jon Tucker and the rest of the motley crew from Wales) but still he came over after he finally found out what tires we were using and gave me and Harris (I think him as well) some bits and pieces from Yokomo and Associated as a thank you.

A very approachable bloke.

Didnt like being lapped in the rain by me an Belsten but as we all know he is the master and can learn very very quickly and be up there and past you before you knew it. He did that the next day and blew every one away.

He was quicker by the end of the warm ups and laughed when he realised he would have won it if he had gone over the finishing line.

telboy 28-01-2008 09:18 PM

Did he have to jump into the middle?:woot:

xx4-nutter 28-01-2008 09:19 PM

i raced at the world champs in 98 south shields and raced for associated at the time & found my self pitting with masami & the rest of the team for three weeks.
the event was supported by nissan so they wanted to use him for interveiws & the likes and nothing was to much what a fantastic bloke.

as for his sandwiches he had his own food sent over and i had to collect it.
it was some disgusting looking pots of sea food:confused:

as for racing kit dave spashett had in excess of 25 thousand pounds of kit sent up for three weeks racing which turned up in two transit vans:woot:

telboy 29-01-2008 12:19 PM

wasn't there loads of stuff nicked from outside the halls?

My best memeory of watching that event was Mr Lander superglueing his eye! not the best thing to do.

nobby 29-01-2008 12:29 PM

yeh chris grainger turned up and all his kit was nicked from the back of his fiesta.

lander superglueing his eyes shut was brill:lol:
he did one & we asked him how he did it so he showed us and did it to the other eye:lol::lol::lol: sitting in the office laughing to my self now thinking about it.

rcluke 30-03-2008 10:55 AM
