HD Ball links
Are the HD ball links out on sale, says in stock on the website, has any one tried them yet apart from the team??
I have seen the Black ones listed on Durangos site : #TD330293 Are the white ones coming out soon as per Skeldings car at the WC? |
I think Adam and Craig's white ball cups were just prototype ones... would be nice to see them available though :)
I'd like to know if they take out the slop as I may fit losi ones if they don't. |

I went to option parts for Dex410 then its on last page, just checked link I had to it and its not there??, weird!
|
Yes it seems to be removed
|
I bought a set of the HD ones on monday from je spares on ebay they had 3 sets left and it looks as tho durango have taken them from there site so must be sold out?
|
They haven't sold out, just a small change with this batch that's all.
Anyone who has purchased them will be receiving a second parts tree as soon as we get more (there should have been two in the pack). |
does that mean 1 pack does the whole car? I'd seen the tree and assumed you'd need 2 packs as you only had the cups to do 4 turnbuckles rather than all 6...
Still would like confirmation they remove the slop that the original ones had :( |
thats handy as was trying to buy another set cos only managed to do a couple of the rods and was thinking i need to spend £10 more to do the whole car!
so will you be sending me them or do i need to contact you? |
MRT is there any slop in the joints with the new ball cups?
|
JE did have them as my mate bought some, but they've not got any now.
|
As said, anyone that has purchased a pack will receive a second parts tree to complete that pack.
Sorry for any confusion but we didn't realise ourselves until they'd all been sold out! |

iam not with the car right now but they were harder to initially pop on!! hope that helps till i look at the car later? |
I never had a problem with the originals popping off, but they just had a mile of play in them. I did put parts bags under them which tightened it all up, but not ideal.
I've seen cars with schumacher/hpi/losi ball cups on and have no play at all in them. If the HD ones take out the play I'll get a pack ordered! a 3 year old B44 I borrowed had zero play in the links and my new durango had loads :( |
Are these in stock again?? Do they come with enough to do a whole car in the one pack now??
|
The part no is still inactive on TD's site so I'm guessing they are still repackaging them to contain the two parts trees.

Not run the car since fitting them, but they seem to have got rid of all the slop I had before, esp with the small rod on the steering arm, didn't pop off while adjusting either:thumbsup: |
Just received it today !

Is this the set we are talking about?
|
Yes.
|
What are the long ones for ?
|
there on the new 2wd at the rear
|
So you get enough to do the car twice or am I mistaken?

The angled link gives more clearence between the wheel and ball joint, allowing you to have maximum droop without the wheel rubbing. |

You also get loads of spare ones for the ARB/Steering links as well as spare shock eyelets :) |
The packs we received all have 2 trees - enough to do one complete car. We've still got some in stock, selling well.
|
The angled links can be used on the rear with SHORT turnbuckles like the ones from the anti-roll bar kit. They clear the wheels properly when used on the outside hole like Craig says. But you don't have to use them - I did because they look cool
|
Do they screw on without splitting, or is it still necessary to use a tap before trying to assemble them?
|
They screw on fine - I didn't have any problems and didn't use grease this time - BUT my turnbuckles might have still been very slightly greasy from the previous install, I'm not sure. I didn't have any issues with the links popping off whilst assembling anyway.
I'll try them this weekend at Southport national. |
Is the new plastic material considerably harder than the old ones?
|
I didnt realise it was possible to talk so much about ball joints :p
|
No splits while installing them. The new rear link needs a much shorter turn buckle than previous. I used the arb ones which were perfect. No slop/play in the links like the original ones had. A very good purchase!
|
i went to order mine last night from JE they had 3 sets in on wednesday and all sold out already :D
|
Fitted all mine last night after having them waiting on my desk for a week
|
Definay do take out some of the slop.
I bought 2 packs so should be entitled to a refund then!!! |
whilst on the subject. The inner balljoint on the track rod, binds on full suspenion travel. And have noticed with heavy front landings the track rod pops off. To sort this I filled part of the steering rack, and part of the ball cup, where the flange on the ball touches it. The definatly eases the full travel bind. Hope this makes sence.
