Schumacher thread
any chance on getting a schumacher thread started ? just because they don't have a new offroad car yet doesn't mean they shouldn't have a section.
|
YEAH GO SCHUMACHER!!!!;)
Loving my Mi2ec, but they have a 1/8th off road car... Still does anyone own a fusion 28, as i am wondering as to how the hell did they get a .28 size engine in a 1/10 touring car:o, how does it handle and what is the top speed? |
they distribute a 1/8 scale off road car...it's not from them...if it was i'd have it
|
Schumachers new 4wd is due out Feb or March! Anyone seen it yet? Belt drive!!!!! and a 4 and 2 cell layout!!!!
|
I'm sure theres a good likelihood of making a dedicated Schumacher section when there's something a little more concrete to talk about - but I can see it going the way of the serpent section without a car around, and just taking up space.
The new car should be rather exciting but I've yet to see or hear about it being raced? Perhaps we simply won't see it at all until the toyfair next month. |
Well I know for deffo that is done and know people who have seen it. I know some schumacher drivers who will be running these this summer for definate. Bit put off with the fact it is a belt drive though!
|
Aye, different horses and all that though. I loved my BJ4we but I find the 501X to be easier to drive consistently and smoother -lot more work with cleaning it tho.
|
Thats wot puts me off!! :D Extra maintanence of belt isnt too hot for me!
|
At least it gives you something to do in between races. :)
|
The car makes it debut public appearance at Nurnburg in a couple of weeks and will be in the shops within a few months after as people have said.
I can't wait, and yeah.... we need Schumacher section. Everyone knows Schumacher is the best really :D |
if shaft drive is the bomb why have all the Tc guys gone back to belt
and don't say because its Tc not offroad belts are the feature and always will be and the new Schumacher looks the bomb and goos well to i have heard/seen he he |

they used to make alot more then that and were very good . i uded to run the Top Cat which then became the Cougar for those old skool people  |
The new Shuey sounds like its going to be a nice car, as said 4 & 2 cell lay out and its ment to be a complete new car rather than using bits from old ones and a slim chassis. Its said to be very well balanced.
In regards of belt vs shaft, Jimmy said he feels belt is smoother and Dbizzle prefers shaft because of the low maintanance. Does anybody else have thoughts on pro's and con's for belt and shaft? Or is there that much power in the motors and batteries now days does it really matter? Any more theorys? |

The cougar 2 was my first car, the "team" version was the mutts nuts.
TC`s went back to belts because of torque steer, this is not some thing we suffer from in off road due to the size and weight of the wheels. Also a shaft car was crap in low grip situations especially from a standing start, as the motor effectively tries to flip the car it lifts one side slightly and loses grip. In the dry though you have a different story though, belts get shafted. We dont seem to suffer from this though in off road. Shaft is the future, less maintenance, more punch and no pingage:D |

I supose punch is the wrong word, how about a more responsive feel
I hope thats better jim;) |

As for belts over shaft, it's all down to personal preference. Having driven mostly belt drive it took a while to get used to shaft(instant power:)). The losi still copes well with belts as does the tamiya so i can't see powerful motors being a problem. Thats just my opinion |

I would never of put you down as a throttle jammer jim:o Im shocked you always seem pretty smooth. Now Chris long or cockerill, they are power happy:D |
I used to run a Topcat, still have the box for it in my loft (not the car itself though). Great memories, although the car was weak as sh*t though..
Every belt car I've had (All Cats, Yokomo) always end up slipping belts, breaking belts, jumping belts etc. Give me a good shaft any day :o:D Still, can't wait to see the new Schumacher, I think most of us have a bit of fondness for Northampton's finest somewhere deep inside. |
RCP, I used to love ordering from them... They had almost every part under the sun which would be delivered within 3 days. I used to love thumbing through their catalogue to find my most wanted parts! Ah misspent youth lol.
|
Think shaft is the way forward for off road.
Anybody remember that chain drive car that was released years ago? it was around for about a season in the PB days, but never caught on. Anybody remember the name of it? |
wasn't the mauri ninja chain drive???? optima was, quality!
i still got my rcp jacket stickers and shells for an xls |
PB Mustang......Got one in the loft:D.I'm loving this thred RCP,SRM, ralls racing (Early days they were niggs :D)those were the days. feeling bit old now tho:wtf:
|
chain drive won the world champs! :wtf: I think I have a few chain drive cars at home - wouldn't last long with a brushless in there :)

Ha ha remember race craft, they were pretty cool.
I remember getting one of the first cougar 2000`s with those crappy red driveshafts that used to come apart |
I got a Maxima also, and some wasp optima parts for my mid!
|
Kyosho Rocky definitely chain drive and PB Ace??
|
I'm still using my wasp 12v soldering iron, 15years old now!
|
The ones you guys have metioned isn't the one i'm thinking of. It was a funny name and wasn't made by a big manufactuer. Thought that was the only cahain drive made but there was obviously more:o
Jimmy which one won the worlds and can you remember the year? We must be talking late 80's? |
I'm a little confused. Where have you guys seen the new Schumacher 4wd? Any pics anywhere?
|
Quote:
Um, I have the optima, progress, gallop - all from Kyosho. I also have a couple of Yokomo Ranch Pit Stop Dogfighters, which won the 1985 modified world championships, in the hands of Gil losi. Other chain drives? not sure to be honest, I'm sure there are a few more around like the rc10 MIP 4x4, but the Marui Ninja was belt drive from what I recall?? oops, gone a bit off topic hasn't it :) |
Don't think theres any pics doing the rounds but a Schuy test driver as explained the layout etc to me. It should be in shops late feb early march if they are still on target for the release date.
