re

looking good, i enjoy watching build threads, keep it up!!
the outer diff covers come from Fredrick i think, there might be another place making them, im sure someone will chime in with a link.
Also did you get the Nuclear diff covers?

what electrics are going in?

cheers

Dalton 16-07-2011 10:21 AM

Not sure what the diff covers are ?

Electrics will be :-

Savox SG1267MG
Speed Passion GT V2.0 Pro ESC With uprated Fan
LRP V12 6.5 Octa wind Motor
Spektrum SR300 Reciver
Orion Carbon Pro 5500 Mah 90C Saddle Packs

Jamie.T 16-07-2011 10:44 AM

The Fredrik front diff covers are due in stock with us this week.

We also stock the nuclear-rc vinyl diff covers. These are self adhesive covers that stick to the diff gear and help prevent grit getting inside.

Their on the site under "511 spares" near the end of the list and are just Ģ1.50 for a set (4).

The build is looking good, keep up the good work.

Dalton 16-07-2011 11:22 AM

Wishbones/driveshafts ect all cleaned and fitted Along with a new set of HL cylinders and titanium shock shafts (Full set from Stella)

Mouton 16-07-2011 11:36 AM

Looks like it is coming along nicely. Perhaps it does not change the angle, but your front axle rear suspension mounts (BC7) are upside down.

If you cannot find the front diff cover, send Fredrik Emilsson here a PM and he will help you.

Dalton 16-07-2011 12:00 PM

huge change in angle...... rectified now

MHeadling 16-07-2011 12:17 PM

Nice re-build dude! I'm not jealous at all!!! :wub

Dalton 16-07-2011 12:29 PM

Very nice build you will enjoy driving as much as build.

Mouton 16-07-2011 04:10 PM

I really like the paintjob! Do yourself a favour, finish the 201 before you test drive the 511. It is a very addictive car. Well actually both are, which is why you should build both before you start driving.

Fredrik Emilsson 16-07-2011 06:31 PM

Yes, that's my long rear diff cover v2 (without the flipable top plate). Glad you like it. :)

As Jamie wrote, he will have diff covers in stock within a week.

Dalton 16-07-2011 07:44 PM

were these done on a 3D printer ? or similar ? Ive seen alot of aftermarket parts but none so intricate and well thought out as this and will DEFINATLY be after the front version.

Any other 511 parts you do id be interested in as the quality is 2nd to none

Ive already driven both as they arrived, the rebuilds are to bring them up to my standard of new or better. Im a bit picky about my cars, these cars from clarkey and V.Rossi were mint and worth every penny i paid (posibly more) but until i strip and rebuild them they dont feel like my own cars if that makes sense

You can route the servo and speedo wires under the ariel mount to keep iut of the way of the belts.

With the switch, I would move it further in as the body can turn the car off when landing off a big jump.

I used a pair of side cutters to force the plates appart, then filed 3mm off the rough end of the brass center part, put in the new ceramic balls in and packed it out as you would with loose type. Works great (Again thx to BudzBalls for info)

Yes sexy new turnbuckles next on list

Hight and position of uprated fan wont allow that route unfortunatly. I usualy have blue tak on my switch during a race to stop any problems :)

Jamie.T 16-07-2011 10:26 PM

We will have the Fredrik diff covers in stock this week, price will be Ģ25.99 (front or rear) and will be available through our website to purchase very soon.

Dalton 16-07-2011 10:32 PM

ill definatly be ordering a front :) Anyone else out there with a 511 these are a MUST have upgrade

mikeyscott 17-07-2011 08:04 AM

V nice rebuild.

Rich D 17-07-2011 11:24 AM

Looking good, you probably want to cut a coil off the rear springs. They are too long as std - you can see it coilbound in one of your pics.

14AWG helps to keep the wiring neat and makes no power difference on track.

Dalton 19-07-2011 06:57 PM

The rears have 1 coil cut already but i made a bit of a mess of it, new ones on the way :)

Full set of new TRF light blue turnbuckles on order too but here are photos of todays fittings :-

New RW spur gear from JT Models (would recomend 1 of these) :-

http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...s/DSC09021.jpg

Also completed the 501/502/511 Alu hybrid stearing set up (Still looking for the original tamiya arms using 3 racing ones atm with a slightly lighter blue tinge) :-

muratti 19-07-2011 08:48 PM

If you can find the original Tamiya steering arms let me know mate, i am a Tamiya fanatic since i was 12 and have numerous places where i can get parts form but didnīt find the ANYWHERE! :(

Dalton 19-07-2011 09:16 PM

yeah ive dreweled over your collection, also been a big tamiya fan since my first 2 cars Boomerang and TA02 escort cosworth. Ive managed to get my collection jump started in the last few months again

416 WC needs rebuild
201 in rebuild to race
201 Spares / show car
511 One in this thread to race
511 Spares / show car
511 Plan to rebuild to show condition
415 Plan to rebuild to show condition
TB evo4 rebuild to show condition

Cars im looking for 501,501,414 and 417 in the near future. And if i ever get lucky id die for a 414X like yours

fastinfastout 20-07-2011 06:13 AM

Dalton, do you cut your rear springs? they look like they don't sit very well

Dalton 20-07-2011 08:05 AM

yeah i cut them and it went wrong, have new ones on order :)

fastinfastout 20-07-2011 08:46 AM

what if you put the cut side to the top?

Jan Larsen 20-07-2011 09:52 AM

The cut part can go low if you bend the last bit of the cut part so it resembles a normal spring, that way if wont pop off the retainer.

Dalton 20-07-2011 04:35 PM

Alloy caster blocks from the 501/502 now fitted and smooth :)

I was told they ruined the handling on the 501 so never bought any for mine.. But the bling is nice to look at :)
