Can't wait! we'll be there updating live throughout the event thanks to the lovely organisers and their fast internet connection.

If they let you in this time, rather than ejecting you like last time.

Darren Bloomfield hasn't qualified, which is why he doesn't have an entry.

Ouch, hang on but Boots?

Looking forward to another famous oople report :)

Either way, good luck to the UK boys :)

tyreman 06-07-2011 04:36 AM

Elliot did a couple of 1/10th nationals last year which makes him elegable for a place.

If there is a space and nobody wants it doesn't Darren deserve it after all his years of commitment to the sport??

Not starting anything, mate. Just stating my opinion!!

I assumed you qualify by being a BRCA member after everybody else was asked who's ranked above you!?!?

Col 06-07-2011 06:14 AM

Quote:

12. INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
12.1
Only current members of the BRCA can be selected as team members.

12.2
UK team members selected to represent the BRCA will be invited to attend by the Committee and will
not need to apply.

12.3
The World Championship team will be selected in the order of the previous year‟s National

Championship results for each class individually.
12.4
European Championship team places will be selected firstly in the order of the previous year‟s

National Championship results for each class individually. The final date for National competitor
acceptance will be the 23
rd. October annually. Any places available after all National Championship
contenders have been notified, will be offered at the discretion of the 1/10
th Off-Road EFRA Representative
to the top placed drivers at the British Regional Championships and then to the top placed drivers at the
Junior National Finals. The final date for non-National contender
s acceptance is the date of the BRCA
AGM annually.

12.5
Competitors accepting an offer of a team place are irrevocably committed to paying the appropriate
entry fees even if they find, at a later date, that they are unable to attend. Every attempt will be made to

reallocate the place but the principle of liability will remain.

Technically true, but not really in the spirit...

janus_77 06-07-2011 07:02 AM

I had this same discussion with Jimmy at the Belgium GP.

IFMAR themselfs should keep 4 or 5 spots for "wildcard" drivers. So if some superstar wants to drive this van be made possible, even if there not qualified by their country's standard. (e.g. for when someone like Collari would want to make an attempt or if Matt Francis would like to come out of retirement)

SHY 06-07-2011 08:24 AM

OTOH some registered drivers will at any event not show... so there's always a few vacant slots... you just gotta travel there and ask the organizers kindly to let you fill in those slots

MikePimlott 06-07-2011 08:48 AM

How can the fastest driver at the warmup not compete at the main event?
Surely it should be the best against the best

I think normally the "Pre-Worlds" is just a local club race really, where anyone can register. Whilst at the Worlds you need to register via your national federation. Which apply for places at the EFRA AGM each year. Then ranking comes into play if there are too many applicants.

Just noticed that Hara isn't on list.

I saw that too. Is the event full?

MattW 06-07-2011 11:10 AM

For what it's worth, my view is that if there is space, then someone should be allowed to fill it.

However, it's OUR BRCA rules that are potentially causing the issues for Darren - so maybe someone needs to propose a change if they believe it needs to be changed.

Darren Boyle 06-07-2011 11:15 AM

No there is spaces... even the British Team has a "space" (but not one for Darren at present sadly).

Says this on top of the page...

"Official entry list as at 24th of May 2011. Please notice that any changes after release date are not shown here."

Could be a few changes to what we've been looking at!

It should be the best 10th off road against the best 10th off road. If 10th off road isn't anyone's bread and butter racing then it's only fair they shouldn't be allowed to race. I personally wouldn't expect a place at the 12th IC worlds (if there is such a thing) because I race 10th.

Hopefully Darren will be able to compete at the next one:thumbsup:

syed2011 06-07-2011 12:42 PM

It is a real shame as the Uk team would be stronger with DB in it but yes it is a rule that is in place for the 1/10th off raod section. I could be wrong but i am not aware of this rule in any other sections

I think the main reason why you have to attend quallify races is that they don't want to devide rc racing too much in pro racing and hobby racing. So it is a very general question how you want a worlds to be. I like this rule but for less popular classes its harder to get many good drivers to a worlds.
I didn't expect Hara to come because looking at the HB page you can see that the D4 isn't any longer supported ... very strange though... 4 years ago it looked like HB really wanted to enter the electric offroad market

spenner 14-07-2011 05:58 PM

well if the organisers would NOT put 1/10th races and 1/8th races on the same weekends then it would make a lot more sense, instead of making the likes of bloomers have to comitt to only one series.Same goes for lee martin he could be doing all the 1/8th scales nats as well as 1/10th
its a no brainer really

I'll be working in live coverage by Organizers.
Just arrived to Vaasa and took this panorama. Looks pretty wet at the moment. :)

Highlights from today:

-Every known battery from nearly every participant is deemed unlegal because of height, despite the fact they're on the list. Protests are not far out in the future...
- All Losi 2WD too wide in the rear, none fit the box.
- GB placed infront of Japan in the opening ceremony lineup with hilarity ensuing.

This is just ridicilous situation. It really isn't realistic to measure battery cases with a scale of 0.1mm. They are made out of thin plastic...

In electric offroad it really isn't anymore about who has most punch and power. So this kind of rules are really unnecessary.
