Atomic Carbon spy shots - 06jan2008
Here are a couple of shots I got of the new 2008 cars from Atomic Carbon - they look somewhat fantastic, with plenty of custom made parts and both cars feature awesome carbon fibre tub chassis.
The S2 has been around all year in various guises, gradually evolving until a layout that worked was arrived at. This, the pre-production car, is a work of art - losing any rough edges the prototypes might have had and with a swish new carbon laminate tub chassis specially made for this car. A new 4-gear gearbox and cell layout distinguish this car from the prototypes. The car should be available as an conversion for the popular RC10B4 from Associated. http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/misc/oople-acs201.jpg http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/misc/oople-acs202.jpg http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/misc/oople-acs203.jpg The new 4WD buggy - yet to be named, but let's call it the 'S4 2008', is a revised and once more tidied up version of the car that took third overall in the UK BRCA championship series, in the hands of Chris Doughty. Jonathan was 'slightly' (very) reluctant to let me take any photos of this car, but suffice to say it features all the latest parts from the Team Associated camp, with new steering designed by Chris Doughty. http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/misc/oople-acs401.jpg For more information, contact Atomic Carbon - www.atomic-carbon.co.uk |

very nice indeed, not seen either of the new cars before - very impressive. I'm treated like paparazzi scum, so I am - but without the fringe benefits of fame and fortune. :( |

But if were giving details, the chassis kit is made as an upgrade for the B44 and includes custom carbon fibre steering (unlike the corally steering on the S4), new shock towers - indeed nothing looks like it's from the S4 (or BJ4we). The car in the photo is Jonathans prototype, using carbon & blue kevlar-type material(?) production chassis will be pure carbon fibre. The production S2 body isn't produced yet |
It certainly will! So many people are running the b44 this year including me, an S44 conversion will be exetremely popular if/when it becomes available to the public
|
Will there be only the "S4 conversion" chassis for the B44 (i.e. with the 4-2 layout of cells) or will there also be a mere "carbon tub conversion" for the B44? I think the latter would be a huge success as to sales. The whole S4 conversion is a bit pricy for many. Why not just get rid of that lexan undertray...

these little teasers might answer a few questions
http://www.doughtyuk.net/images/B44s-1.jpg http://www.doughtyuk.net/images/B44s-2.jpg these little images are early proto parts, there are still things to be adjusted and tuned. |
Is that your car chris?
No-vak? |
