Work Parties - 12 & 19 January 2008

Hi All

As part of our work to improve the quality and facilities at EPR, we will be replacing the old rostrum roof with a new one. Our plans are to take down the existing wooden one on the Saturday after the third round of the Winter Warmer series (12 Jan) and put up the new corrugated sheeted roof the following Saturday. We are going to speak to Steve Andrews who has offered his scaffold tower to make access easier and safer!

The work party on the 5 January will focus around finishing the scrutineering hut and doing the normal prep work before a meeting.

Of course it would be really great to have your support over the rostrum roof weekends as once the old one is off, there wont be any turning back!

Thanks

Eden Park Raceway

Just a couple of tall ones to make fitting the roof easier.

Yes, Loads of strong coffee:o

David Church 17-01-2008 09:03 PM

Ahhh yes, that was my 300th post!!!! I am a mad member now!!!!!!!!!!:D

brookie 17-01-2008 10:39 PM

Dave - you've been a 'mad member' from day 1!!!

Anyway, you going to have any primer on the van this Saturday?
We also have a need to finish off scrutineering, fixing sliding shutters, door panels and painting.

We also need a volunteer (!) with a roof rack or a van to collect the roof sheets from Ian B's just up the road in West Wickham.

The weather forecast may affect what we do on Saturday and get our head around what we've ordered and how we are going to use it!

David Church 18-01-2008 07:14 AM

I will pick up some primer today, and we can use my van if needed to pick up the sheets, let's hope for good weather, it would be nice to get the roof on:D

MattADH 18-01-2008 09:46 AM

With the weather we are having at the moment, getting the roof on would be great!!!

Next major job that I would like to do is board the rostrum front, back and sides.

Some of the other jobs are out of our hands as it were like running mains power to race control, fixing the fence, seeding the grass areas....

DC - coffee is ordered. What time will you be there? May be easier to stop at my dads and collect the roof on the way, that's all!

See you all tomorrow.

old roof gone, and a little more tidy underneath too...

David Church 18-01-2008 03:42 PM

Ok I have the primer and the base cabints and counter, I have an estimate at 8:30am, and will be heading straight there, so should be about 9:45 or so. Do we have anything to tie these to the roof racks????
My van is mega full, as I picked the paint up today for next week, off to Newport, south wales, and have 25 gal of paint on there and the cabinets, but will have ladders as well, so dont think i will be able to find the rope, lol.......

MattADH 18-01-2008 08:51 PM

I think we will be able to find something - my dad is bound to have ropes, straps, etc

Are we still meeting in the cafe?
I need to get some stuff from the shops anyway for refreshments, etc

MattADH 26-01-2008 08:37 PM

Yes the 1:8 Fury was very entertaining
.
Sorry dont have any spare thumbscrews - got to get some myself for a 2008 spec B4 FT.

Roof is now on the rostrum and fully fitted - pics to follow.

Scrutineering is very nearly finished - just got to make the cover on the front door quick release and then paint all the untreated wood. Stuck a strip light in their too whilst we were at it!

The storage units have been fixed down and the sliding shutters work really well.

Thanks to Ian B, Steve B, Jon P, Andy T and the 'boys' for their help today.

martboy21 26-01-2008 11:52 PM

Glad you guys got it all done, Well done the lot of you!! Itching to try my 2008 ft b4 round the track!

sorry again i couldn't make it down, as i said before it was joshys birthday party today,my brother bought him his first rc car today,he was in his element the little sausage.

Everywhere has been sold out of thumbscrews that i have tried(are they new product/High demand or something?), apart from a guy called Domonic Hodges at www.dcracing.co.uk, about 9.50 delivered Matt.

Steve if you don't mind could you please sort me out tires for Saturday please Matey? Going to try boiling the rims as i have so many with part worn or bald tires that i am sure some can be re-used.

Also was wondering Matt can you get hold of wayne prately about that spektrum dx2 and reciever? if you could kindly ask him, he wanted 60 pound for it

Thanks again guys

Mart
