1/18th Short Course Trucks?
Hey Guys,
I am thinking of getting Short Course Truck and wondered what you opinions were on whats best to get. Was at a mardave meeting yesterday and someone had a Associated SC18 brushless which looked like ALOT of fun. Been googling but cant find that much info really, only found 2 places that even sell the Associated one. Just wondered if there were other option and what the general opinion was etc. Many Thanks |
i drove that truck you saw, and i think its amazing on the flat track but i me personal i would say go for a FTX Blaze or second hand LRP Shark.
but i admit the buggies are great fun lol  and glad you had fun :D |
Cheers mate I will take a look, those SC things just look awesome. Was an awesome day throughly enjoyed it.

FTX blaze ftw!
|
They look pretty cool as well , will a Short Course body go on them? I have a b4.1 you see so was kinda hoping to get something like an SC
|
Anyone had any experience with the Losi Short course truck saw a brushless one for about 150 quid
|
not experienced one myself but the losi ones are good and have a good turn of speed and will accept 3s lipo:woot:
|
Go have a look on Towerhobbies for the Duratrax SC. It's the best 18th scale SC truck on the market.

the 'detta sc is a long wheelbase version of the ftx blaze. so as long as you don't break too many chassis' you'll be fine. |

Then put in an order from Tower for a full set of wishbones and a spare chassis and centre drive shaft. With that lot you should be ready to go. |
:thumbsup:the sc18 mentioned is mine. yes it is great fun. M B models at halton can get them. i asked michael the other day and he says he will do them for £160. they come ready to run with a 2.4 radio. mines got £30s worth of hobbywing speedo/motor in it. took a bit of sorting, brushed motors get hot and burn out. i'm up at sherburn racing at most meetings if you want a go with the truck. i've also converted a rc18b to a short course truck. easy enough to do. see you next time at sherburn.:D

|
 nice one chief. i'm testing my rc18sc special tomorrow. decent shocks this time. the 18th trucks are the way forward for the small track at sherburn. :D
|
you will get to see my SC today but i warn you its abit more rough and ready lol
lets see if these big bore shocks work lol |
I have managed to get a secondhand SC18 (Brushless) Paid 75 quid so I think its pretty good. The previous owner assured me its in good nick apart from a few normal scuffs. Really looking forward to getting it as wanted to get a 1/10th short course when I started but ended up getting a b4.1 as it seemed more place to race them. Worked out for the best I think cos these min SC look even more fun. You guys seem to have such a laugh when ur racing with them/buggies.
Just nee to see whats its like now see if I need to dabble with some upgrades. =D Anyone got suggestions for for lipo batterys for these things? I believe it has deans connectors |
found these on ebay if there any good to you
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...RK:MESINDXX:IT check the dimensions 1st though |
are these a copy of any particular sc truck
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...RK:MESINDXX:IT been looking at getting a 1/18th sc truck for a while |
bionic 1550mah 30c's
awesome battery. but those nanp-techs will work great too. for lots of upgrade infor for the rc18t2's (what the sc is based on) chekc the micro forum, www.uk-microrc.co.uk. |
yeah its a rc18 copy, but using a vendetta sc vid to sell it lol
|
thats good then as the rc18 parts are stocked in the uk,noticed that it a duratrax video but didnt match but for that price i dont mind it been a copy

omg I just charged it up to give it a quick run , its so damn quick its ridiculous lol, think i will be toneing that down on my controller lol.
Seems I am cursed with servo centralisation probs at mo as this model has a similar issue, i got quite cheap though so no probs replacing it if I have to. It is awesome tho lol |
kit servo is a bit fragile. hitec hs 65mg fits, however you need a different servo saver. i'm sure associated list this saver as an option part. mines running a hitec hs55mg servo with the losi mini t servo saver ( cos i had one kicking about ) and i'm a tight yorkshire get :woot:. no problems with me steering though. glad you're happy with the new truck.

I may run it, I just need to figure out the steering issue and parts. I allready ordered a aluminium steering rack but its coming from the States so might not get it in time. Plus not sure if it is just that at mo. I think its too fast for me I know that lol its bloody insane in the living room ! |
mines too fast for me, it's just a case of keeping it smooth. only time you get to full power is on the straights but the brushless systems are really smooth. steering is easy to fit, if i remember correctly if you remove the top of the front gearbox it slots in no problems. reading on the american forums the servo isn't up to much but the hitec swap comes in at less than £20. any probs i'll have a word on saturday. looking forward to seeing your truck go. a heat of the 18th scale (SCALE ! ! ! ! ) trucks would be great to watch
