Ledbury MCC Regional 2008
I live about as close as you can get to this track, yet have never visited it. From their website, it looks like they are building a 10th Buggy Astro Track.
If anyone would like to know more about it before next year, I don't mind dropping down to the track to take some pics in the next couple of days. (It is less than 5 minutes away). From the photo's it looks like they have made some sort of bridge section....:eh?::eh?: Let me know if you want to know more... (I think it is being run by Doug Hogg (of Nitrux fame)). Mark |
Mark, i think work is well under way. Gordy on here is heavily involved .. fire a PM at him. I am trying to get hold of Gordy and Doug by phone but both are elusive at the moment!!!
|
go for it on pics Mark, i raced the bcl at ledbury is it the same place?? Down the lane to the mx track?? Taht made silverstone finals look like a touring car track:p
|
I am not sure, from the website, their seems to be two locations within stones throw of each other (club track) and (big meet track).
I think the track will be at the (big meet track), but don't question me on it. From the brief description, I think it will be astro... Will get those pics up at the weekend. It will be light then! Mark |
Until Gordy or Doug confirm otherwise I believe that there are to be 3 tracks.
Current dirt track (primarily for 1/8th) Grass "club track" (primarily 1/8th but usable for 1/10th if mowed short) 1/10th specific track .... will become progressively more astro based as time goes on. This area is still "under construction" as far as I can gather. As I said before, Gordy is your man on this forum .... will try to ring him again tonight to confirm ... better still get him to post up in person! |
Nice one Rog.
Hope to hear from you. Mark. |
Sorry Guys, missed this thread.
Right, where to start? For the time being the track is going to be a grass track, untill someone comes up with some free astro! We do have a bridge section, which we are constructing at the moment. This will be an over and back under afair, although it can be run many different ways. We have a lot of very interesting features that we are planning. We are hoping to have the track in it's basic form running in a month or so. We have three tracks at the moment; grass track;rally cross track and the 10th track, which is under construction. The tracks are all situated on the same site down the lane by the motor cross, as you described. We're getting a growing interest in 10th electric, which is why we are doing this as our 8th scale track is just too rough for the 10th. For any more details email Doug Hogg [email protected] take a look at the website, there's not much in the way of pictures of the new track yet, but I look damn good with a sledge hammer on some of them.:p:p |
have you looked on the brca website at the free astro??
|
Good call Andy .... they are always resurfacing pitches and have old stuff to move on!!!!
Gordy .... I have a contact that has a flat bed truck who charges very reasonable rates for moving stuff!! |
This will be my local track as well. Only 20 mins away.
Not far from the M50. Will the club be running any 1/10th buggy events prior to the regional event? |
I believe they will once the track is ready. Again Gordy is the man for info on the progress of this track.
|
Does anyone know when the regional will be running ? Or infact any of the regional dates?
|
they havent all been confirmed yet, phil will publish them in the near future. at last count there were 10 rounds
|
I would have thought that if it's mainly astroturf, they would would run it fairly early because of weather, saying that though look at this year's summer:eh?:
|
Does anyone have any updates about this track?
I could do with the practise before the regionals. Thanks. |
Just a quick update on the track, for those who want to know the surface is mainly grass, with some hard packed sandy dirt sections.
We're working flat out down there at the moment moving tons of soil - hopefully the track will be interesting when finished. |
get some pic's up mark!!
|
There may be some pics up on the Ledbury site later, if Doug gets chance.
Although, they are not going to tell you much as the tracks still in an unfinished state. But I Guarentee it will be finished for the meeting. Gordy |
Hi Mark / Gordy, I've tried to contact Doug to confirm a few things for the Regional, but not heard back. Do you know if he's having e-mail problems??

Sorry guys, been really busy of late!
I do not know anything about the club as it goes, it just happens to be my local! I do know (from their website) that they do a lot of 1/8th/Nitro... I haven't been down to the track as of yet, but might pop down at the weekend to find out more. Cheers Mark |
Phil,
Doug has never been quick at returning mails as I don't think he checks them very frequently. I have his number if you need it. |

On a serious note about this track...
However good the new track may well be (it couldn't get much worse than the time I went, as it would have been less bumpy and wrecked had it suffered a nuclear assault!) if anyone going has a sports car or something low that they would like to keep the bumpers attached to, it would be well worth borrowing something with some more ground clearance!! The route from the road to the track is literally THROUGH farm fields and would be better suited to Strobe's flying Quattro!! Just thought I'd point it out, as it was a good job I had a hired Vectra when I went or I wouldn't have even got to the track!! |
The access is via a track NOT through fields and has had a lot of work done to fill any holes. It realy isn't bad now and people should not be put off:thumbsup:
|
Any track pics?? Not long now:thumbsup:. The lane when i went was a little rough , but my bm and a mates r32 went down it no probs.
|
Hmm, may be time to put a call into my dad, nearly took my front off getting into Southport track, so this one sounds risky!
Can we put an entry list up, I entered ages ago but didn't hear back? |
You'll be fine dave, just take your time down the lane
|
Track looks interesting. Hopefully the weather will be dry that weekend.
Can't wait to start the 08 Off-road Outdoor season off. Would of liked to of gone and done the indoor finals but very busy at work. Working sat/sun. 2 12 hour shifts on double time. Can't turn the money down with all this racing coming up. |
I am going to pop down there today for a chat with Gordy .... I'll go down in the Mini (proper Mini, not the discusting abomination with the BMW badge) and if that gets there no problem then you have nothing to worry about!!!
|
Just got back and I can say that the track leading to the race-track is still a little rough but certainly should nto be a problem for anybody who drives along it carefully.
The race track is coming along very nicely. I think everybody will have a great days racing on it and it has plenty of features but should still be very flowing. A credit to all concerned. |
