Mad monkey bodyshell and wing
hi guys,
i know this has probably been asked countless times before, but does anyone know where i can buy a clear or none-ansmann brand bodyshell and wing that would fit the mad monkey in the uk? like a proline shell etc? cheers! :) |
i also want a clear shell for the monkey the b4 shell dont fit either as its not wide enough
|
You could try the Phat Bodies Zen -
http://cache1.bigcartel.com/product_...31/Zen_050.jpg Its designed to fit the X-Factory X6 so there's a good chance it will fit the Mad Monkey. Available here - http://phatbodies.co.uk/  |
Simon.......if that shell is narrow at the front then it won't fit the Mad Monkey as it's quiet a bit wider than the b4/x6 front end ;)
|
well i got annoyed at looking all over with no avail so iv bit the bullet and ordered 3 sheets of 0.75mm lexan (enough for 3 shells all going well) and i shall set about making my vacuum forming machine out of scrap bits.
i will let you all know how it goes success or not but if they go well i may be able to do the odd one or two. i will be changing the design tho adding a air vent that can be cut out allowing air flow directly onto the motor for added cooling so no heat sink needed |
Hi all, I am waiting to order a body to make a mould from for the Mad Monkey as it seems a lot of people are after one as soon as it happens I will be posting it up, cheers Eric

Simon, when I get 5 minutes ill try and measure the width front and mid, see how it measures up to ya shell :)...... I personally would like a close fitting shell to keep as much cr@p out as poss ;)

I've not seen a Mad Monkey up close, but it does look a lot like the X6 from the middle backwards, which is what the Phat Bodies Zen was designed for so should a good fit around there .....
|
The Zen fits the RB5 MCS does it not? Which is a kyosho front end which is pretty much the same width as the x-pro, madmonkey, rat, x2c etc so I would have thought it would fit.
|
true but mad monkey is 10mm longer than xpro and wider in middle and back than xpro

shell
Hello boys and girls,
Just put my sons zen shell on my mad monkey and it fits. With the M/M shell its a tight fit over the spur gear but on the zen shell there is plenty of room. I'll try an add some pics. |

No need to hack the front of the shell, just follow the cut lines fits perfect.
Looks miles better than the m/m shell, going to order one from simon at phat bodies asap. |

Cool cheers for that I will be placing an order shortly once I have found a part number for a TR02C chassis, I am thinking of converting my saddle chassis to a stick chassis, seems to make more sense and it saves me having to borrow batterys of a friend everytime I go racing.

Beat you to it, just found it a couple of minutes ago, cheers for that, Cameo, looks like I will be placing an order today, as long as my body man can do the bodies fairly soon, I should have some available shortly, watch this space!!!

Does it fit snuggly as i suspect from comparing the shape of the x6squared chassis to the mm they have slightly different contours. |

Now just need to try and cut it out without taking a loads off the shell! The X6 is narrower at the front compared to the Monkey so is the shell is the same! I'll post some pics up if I can get it to fit nicely :eh?: |
Excellent.
Will you cut it to shape before you paint it? |

Finally got some pics taken the other day.......sorry for the delay in me posting them up on here
My thoughts on the shell......it will fit onto the Monkey (not as tight fitting as the kit shell, but thats to be expected), with a little extra cutting......I've used the kit body mount pins on the Monkey to mount the shell as it pulls it in closer to the shell......maybe velcro will do a better job (but for some reason I cannot get any to stick to the chassis ) I'll run this shell for any dry outdoor meetings and indoor meetings I do (once sprayed) and will more than likely buy one when the time comes :) Pics: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23...r/SAM_0162.jpg With rear body shell pins: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23...r/SAM_0157.jpg Without rear body shell pins: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23...r/SAM_0159.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23...r/SAM_0154.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23...r/SAM_0156.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23...r/SAM_0160.jpg |
Has anyone mentioned that Ansmann do a mid-motor shell, for the X2c, 125001103, £19.99?

Thats why this thread was started ;) |
Looks like I finally got the MM shell coming after getting stung by customs, it shouldn't take too long to get a mould made, depending how many people want one I shall be doing 6 to start with. I shall be selling them for £12.99 plus £2.00 postage, they will come with overspray film and wing.

cheers |
I will let everyone know when they will be available for purchase, it will a little while to get the mould made as my body man has quite a few other jobs on at the moment. Rest assured we will finally have some clear bodies available in this country despite Ansmann not doing them and they will be a heck of a lot cheaper than the original ones.
|
Good. I look forward to it as I'll have one too. Chris.
|
Bodyshell has finally arrived and is in the hands of my body man, he reckons about 2 weeks to get some on the shelf, I shall let everyone know when they are done and ready for purchase.
|
Hurry up!!! My boy managed to split the TeamC shit shell on the weekend....
