Which cleaner for the airbrush? I didn't look on your site for any. Do I need some?

jonmiller 18-04-2011 08:14 AM

If you make sure to keep on top of the cleaning and do it straight way when done then being a waterbased paint, just use water. cheap..n does the trick :D

Are you Glen then?

but before I do some questions

Airbrush nozzles / needles
Got two guns and they have 0.3 & 0.35 needles installed. Are they man enough for the job or do I need to fined smaller and or larger needles?

AB's are BD Airbrushes
BD-128p & BD-132

Trigger
they both press down and or down and slide back
what happens in both cases when you use either function apart from paint should come out?

jonmiller 19-04-2011 11:47 AM

down puts the air on and pulling back controls the amount of paint.

for rc stuch you shouldn't really need any smaller. try it n see. you may need to experiment with paint/thinning and air ratios to see what works with you/your setup.

DCM 19-04-2011 11:51 AM

with .35 you will need to thin a little, they will clog otherwise.

thinning paint
paint to water ratio in my case
70/30
80/20
90/10

Jon's Liquid Mask
say's it can be sprayed
does it need thinning?
what ratio?

julianb 19-04-2011 01:23 PM

Mmm... wouldn't use water to thin the paint, it will tend to bead up on the surface. I'd recommend getting your hands on some Auto Air reducer - which Jon sells!

I don't think your airbrush will be man enough to spray masking film. A cheap touch up gun should do the trick - I picked mine up with a compressor and a load of extras from Lidl for £60.
In terms of thinning it, I just add a little water to the top of a new bottle of mask and shake it well. Not a lot of science there!

cheers

Ju (also newb)

jonmiller 19-04-2011 02:48 PM

I thin the RCS mask about 10% with water but again...will be down to the setup you are using.

@Jon
what's with the Auto Air Reducer?
what does it do?

to many questions and not enough time to paint

2 coats of LM applied so getting close :D

jonmiller 19-04-2011 04:09 PM

in regards to reducing paint, the 4011 performs better than water as it tends to 'melt' or 'break down' the pigment more.
also as others have said, it is less likely to bead up on the surface.
