Oswestry 2WD Round 1 - 10/04/11

I hope everyone is ready for Sunday? We will have hot food available all day from the usual catering people. The weather forecast is fine at the moment so it should be a great day.

I know we have a few new faces for this meeting so if anyone needs any help then please ask.

Neil

_sleigh_ 07-04-2011 06:17 AM

Neil, will the indoor pitting be available?

neiloliver 07-04-2011 06:21 AM

Jeff and Ash can confirm but I see no reason why not.

panch 07-04-2011 07:10 AM

Phil / Neil

I messaged Ash regarding this earlier in the week and his reply said that he thinks there is an event at the site on the saturday and he is unsure that the hall will be empty on the sunday.

As the club don't hire the hall in the summer and have previously just used it when free he couldn't confirm if we could use it and was best to bring outdoor pitting just in case.

Thanks for the info, actually looks like the weather will hold for the weekend so no worries.

Pownabown 07-04-2011 08:28 AM

Are we going to be using the old corner astro track then for this meeting?
I cant wait :)

RogerM 07-04-2011 11:09 AM

I can't believe that I am missing yet another Oswestry event :( I always enjoy meetings at this venue but haven't been able to make it for several years now.

Have fun guys :)

Big G 07-04-2011 11:56 AM

The Mrs is picking up her new car in the next few days. IF we can leave early tomorrow we'll collect it tomorrow which free's up sunday for me.

So I'll have to book in late if I'm to join you racing. I'll be in the guest heat anyway since I'll be running the 'rango :)

jeffb4 07-04-2011 05:28 PM

Yes we will be on the Astro Grass track. The weather forecast is sun and more sun (bring your sun cream). The building is available for indoor pitting but you will be unable to use the AC power points. AC power will be restricted to race control.

I hadn't realised the meeting was so soon! Is it too late to book in now or is it still ok? I enjoyed it a lot last year.

neiloliver 07-04-2011 09:17 PM

You can book in on-line www.brca-midwest.co.uk but as Wednesday has passed you will be in heat one and will not be allowed to practice... themsistherules.

Looking forward to my first Mid West regional

Do you guys run open practice or controlled in heats?

russmini 07-04-2011 09:46 PM

Ok, i'm lost... lol

I just can not find the track on Google Maps. I've never been before and as it will be a 1 3/4 hour drive, i really need to know exactly where i'm going, not just a general area...

Can someone Please pinpoint it on a map for me, so i know exactly which road to go up off the A5 and then where after that.

Cheers, Russ.

Big G 07-04-2011 09:57 PM

KRob 08-04-2011 08:35 AM

Cheers Gents,
Now then, what time does practice start?
(I like my lie-ins :p)

neiloliver 08-04-2011 05:37 PM

You should be at the track for booking in at 8am.

http://www.brca-midwest.co.uk/booking.html

The question about practice is also covered on this page... I dont know why I bother sometimes :wub

KRob 08-04-2011 06:16 PM

Hi Neil,
I appreciate the reply, thank you.
My fault for missing the practice in heats bit - sorry

With regard to timing, I have plenty of experience from other meetings (regionals or otherwise - but not in the Mid-West I hasten to add) where the times published don't mean squat despite what has been printed/published on forms etc which has caused problems on the day.
Just wanted to be sure :)

GRIFF55 08-04-2011 06:44 PM

Oh mate, times mean everything in the mid west!! excellent run events!! Kinda wish i had a hybrid car to get there!! lol

The Pookster 08-04-2011 07:52 PM

What's the best front tyre?

matdodd 08-04-2011 09:14 PM

it depends how much front grip you like, ballistic spikes, Schumacher mini spikes or staggers all work fine

Ritchie T 08-04-2011 09:21 PM

Edit: Sorry read it properly now.
