Racing - Sunday 3rd April 2011
 

Racing is on this Sunday as normal, however people need to be prompt at marshalling and help this weekend please. Julian and Dan are in charge. Marshal turn around last week was poor in some races and certainly held back the running of the meeting. If I was there this weekend it'd be cars on the table next to race control and straight out to marshal, NO pottering back to your pit area. Once you've finished your marshalling duties then collect your cars from race control (unless your designated pit monkey has already collected it...)

Steve is out for obvious reasons and I'm away at the Stotfold regional. So have fun and play nicely please!

Looking at Stotfold You Tube videos are it looks very very hard - I'll need more than luck!

changed some of the lay out thats all was a bit to fast on to the jump move the speed ramp back 2 where it was bit wider here and there all for the better mote jumps to come but not this week

Hi Martin, Just a quick Q I was wondering if the club were going to try and put those small little wedge's on the track this sunday. Something similar to what we tested sunday afternoon? Maybe where we had them before or try them on the corner like we briefly tried. Mainly as not sure how many there will be sunday, and could be a perfect time to let member's try it and maybe vote in the morning where to try them? Thought it was just a idea, there tiny-I.E. you cant crash on them. So cant see anyone having any - about them. But thats me, maybe something to try while the number's could be lower. cheers

no harm in trying them jamie im not there this week so if you are best one to speak to is dan brown can try them in different places and see what works :thumbsup:

Another good days racing from the Torch crew track was awesome and went from very wet in the first qualifier to bone dry for the rest of the meeting.
Must remember to have an early night on the saturday though it might just help with my concentration!

A fair days racing, with people not sure what they want with the hump???? I like the it:thumbsup: But some feedback by all would be helpful. Julian has the laptop and I do not promise results willl be up-dated but I will chase him tonight.

The 502 is a little poorly, Mikey had all my spares, my diff crunched in the end and the front wish bone has a hairline fracture:thumbdown: Still car lasted to the last 2 laps of the final.

Mike and Ale, an up-date of Team Torch performance at the regional would be nice to see up-dated on the Torch forum????????

Are you sure your Team Durango pals "Tony" are not trying to slow you down with advising putting mini pins on front???????:lol:

The track was hard work today, bumps seem to be a little harsh compared to usual.

But still some great racing :thumbsup:

haha yeah, they worked but were way to edgy. I just tried them, as mine are fairly new.. but the other's were very worn. But live and learn ey! :lol:

Yesterday was great fun - 3 full heats which was more than I was expecting given mother's day and a few racers away at the regional.

The slight tweaks to the jump and track have made it more fun to drive.
Only point I would make is we need to either have the speed hump in or out (not really fussed either way) but I do not think the staggered approach worked - caused carnage at the start of the 2wd A final although I managed to escape!! The quickest way was to avoid the humps and that effectively made the track about 1.5m at that point.

New Losi cars looked really quick at times but I think Chris and Nick were struggling a bit when the grip came up - think they are going to be really quick once they get the set up sorted. Still want one!! After all changing to mid-motor cars we got beaten by James driving a rear motor B4!!

How did Team Torch get on at the regional?

Once again great racing in all classes but need some help to get realibulity
THe speed bump aka jordans implants!!!! I think it's a good idea but it is to steep ie the up ramp it's not in proportion to the cars the track needs some more jumps or humps, just try differnt set ups until you find the right one

What reliabilty issues are you having?

Stotfold - I quali E4 and finished E3, disappointed but it was fun.

There will be one less Durango at TORCH going forward!

Other TORCH results at Stotfold were Mark Townsend B9->B5, I managed C6-C3 - both of us managed to lead our finals before throwing the wins away...

It was a very close field, some awesome racing. And the Stotfold track is fantastic, it's definitely my 2nd favourite UK track - RHR is still the top!!

I do kinda of agree here, they are very abrupt. It will be hard to make everyone happy. But the face of the jump is very very steep, which is tricky for the newer driver to get right. I can see something like that but larger would work well, and almost 3 one after another. So they can be rolled-Like a roller, or double single.. or triple.. if your brave. But that would make people unhappy as there is more chance of breaks. I think a lot of it, is some people are not used to jumping and so on, but people wont learn until they do it... either way. Good days racing sunday.

Personally I like the hump before the corner and has helped me no end in grasping jumping better, which in turn has helped me racing at other tracks.

You just got to be patient and learn etc. It's taken me a while to grasp jumping and it is a skill worth developing.

I have to say it should stay.... This is just my view.

I don't struggle with it far from it, its just for the newer racers. It is not the easies of things, mainly with its very sharp up ramp. Its a nice feature, but IMHO there is room for improvement in time and funds/time allows ect.

I like the hump, weirdly it's one of my favourite parts of the track and I still consider myself a newbie :thumbsup: Please don't change it!

Personally the hump full width of the track but slightly lower or a slightly less sharp up ramp, but that's my tupence for what it's worth.

I love the hump, it's a very rare feature that slows the cars right down to an almost stop, that's really unusual, and I think it works very well, it's tricky to get right, but not impossible.

TORCH is great, and will continue to improve with the great team we have!

I would like your advice on what esc (brushless) to buy that I will be able to use on on a range of motors ie start with my 8.5 and when I have improved move to a faster motor etc that I could use in a 4x4?
