Losi 22 build - RCRACER.com

Our chums at RCRACER magazine have been live-building the new TLR (That's Team Losi Racing - putting the TEAM back into Losi) '22' 2WD electric buggy.

;)

The only thing that is on my 'concern' list, is as shaun said, the steering rack. It may have channels to help remove 'dirt', but what about if a couple of grains of sand get stuck in those channels? We've all seen how much sand is in the astro turf that we run on here in the UK.

We'll see anyway.
:)

I appreciate the kind comments and many thanks to Jimmy for the link to Racer's online build of the 22...

Yes, I am having the weekend off.

The online build will continue on Tuesday as I need to use the photography studio at the office. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask them and I will see if I can help.

For the record, you only get the one body in the box and TLR don't include any tyres. You do get two sets of wheels though, but you will need to invest in a 5mm nut driver for the slipper clutch adjustment!

Belsten 12-03-2011 11:25 PM

What colour are the wheels ?

Are they hetro ?

Or Griff ?

They're Griff - and you get two complete sets of them.
Hetros will hopefully be arriving with the main kit+spares shipment for those who haven't fully embraced their Griff-ness and openly come out yet:woot:

yeah me too there maybe a chance of small piece of gravel that gets lodged in there and the result is no steering,
time will tell eh?

till 13-03-2011 07:28 PM

what about creating a lexan mould or something around the steering rack?
of course it is a lot of work but i think it might help ^^

sparrow.2 13-03-2011 07:53 PM

How about driving the thing first before building stuff for it.

Mine is pre-ordered and I reckon it's going to be cracking

shark 13-03-2011 09:28 PM

Exactly , we dont know theres a problem to solve !!!

Chris56 13-03-2011 09:43 PM

Surely months of testing on US dirt tracks would have highlighted any issues with regards grit getting trapped. Perhaps that could just be wishful thinking cos I WANT ONE!

Thargor 14-03-2011 02:35 AM

this car is going to be awesome.. read all the reviews.. seen all the videos.. want one .....

Legacy555 14-03-2011 08:36 AM

I see on tlracing.com that the hrc rear pivot and most non-kit pieces won't be available till may..... hope this doesn't include springs.

Is it Kyosho that make 12mm springs that will fit?

MattADH 14-03-2011 09:26 AM

The steering rack is so simple with one moving part and it is as free as many ball raced set-ups I have built before.

As Racer's online build mentions, the idea of the grooves is to ensure dirt doesnt affect the action. Of course with the US only racing on dirt tracks, if anyone would find a problem it will be a TLR test driver.

The tolerances (gap between fixed and sliding moulding) are incredibly small to avoid slop and create a smooth action. The open side of the rack system faces towards the rear of the car so the chances of dirt getting in I think is pretty low.

I believe JE spares will be getting most parts in this friday. Not sure whether that includes the HRC blocks or not though

evolution 21-03-2011 08:50 PM

I had the spares in today and the only bits i didn't get was the front shock shafts and front inner hinge pins. Don't know if i was left out as other suppliers bought them all or Horizon didn't get any from Losi.
