Hot Bodies off road championships 2007 @ don valley

Who's going to the Hot Bodies off-road championships? I saw the advert for them a while back and was reminded today about it - so put our names down. It's run alongside the HB junior touring car thing - but apparently with an alternate layout for the buggies with jumps etc.

9th december they are on at Don Valley - bit of info and entry form here: http://www.mirageracing.com/news/article/703

James 26-11-2007 02:59 PM

I'll be going with my little B4 ... ... similar surface to worksop i think? so should be a good'n not expecting quite as big a jumpage as worksop though...

Chrislong 26-11-2007 03:06 PM

Im up for a bit of that... Do we need to pre-book or just turn up? I can't decide whether to do 2wd or 4wd, I suppose 4wd.... its not had as many miles on it as my X-6 recently.

PaulRotheram 26-11-2007 07:26 PM

Would of went to this if the meeting had been advertised abit more.. abit late notice for me to get money together to go.

Chequered Flag Racing 26-11-2007 08:02 PM

what tyres work for the 2 & 4wd buggies @ Don Valley?

ashleyb4 26-11-2007 08:40 PM

Im wanting to go should be good fun.

A

matdodd 26-11-2007 08:46 PM

Ill be there doin 4wd. I think yellow mini pins should be fine from what iv been told about the surface

telboy 26-11-2007 08:52 PM

Im going. Its a rubber running floor surface. adam and Mr Christopher did some testing last week with some D4's and they found that there wasn't much difference between the schumache mini pins and mini spikes. grip looked good so i dnot think there shoud be too many issues with it.

I'm looking forward to it. should be a laugh if the track is layed out ok.

Lindsay 26-11-2007 10:57 PM

Tyres Don Valley

Adam also tested some GRP cones and said that these and mini spikes were better than mini pins. So most drivers will have 3 options.

bigred5765 26-11-2007 11:33 PM

is this pre book only. or turn up and run??

Lindsay - do you know if there is anyone to contact to book in over the internet (email) ? I guess it's getting a bit close to be sending snailmail entries in is all.

telboy 27-11-2007 12:27 AM

jimmy, you have PM. :)

jimmy 27-11-2007 12:36 AM

Hi I should say we are booked in - but I was thinking of other people getting in to fill up any spaces left. The off road meeting is being run alongside the Junior touring car meeting - a good chance to show the kidZ what they are missing with their flat cars :p

niggs98 27-11-2007 08:11 AM

i will be there and looking forward to it although i will have to get some tyres :S

Jamesy 27-11-2007 08:36 AM

Question is, how are the numbers filling up. Does anyone know?

Thanks.

Hi Lindsay,
If anyone starts to accept entries by email/PM, please can you include me. I have done mine just today by post, with cheque and SAE - and don't want to miss the boat because post is a day slower than PM/email..

Ta mate
Chris

jimmy 27-11-2007 04:16 PM

I asked Ben Cosgrove at Mirage if he could advise about places / online reservations etc.. so we'll see hopefully - it would be good to fill up the meeting as if it's a success maybe Mirage will do some more in future?

Same here, i suppose it would be unfair lets say if there are 10 places left but entry is only by post and there is 14 envelopes waiting to be opened as they say.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Col.

Ps - i have now had confirmation that it would be me and Russ only as John cant make it now.

Hmmm your comment appeared in between me replying and answering the phone lol :p.

Col.

jimmy 27-11-2007 04:41 PM

I'm told there ARE places available, so if you get your entry in this week you should be perfectly OK. If we get enough there then there might well be 60 odd touring cars on ebay mid december as all da kids demand buggies from Santa! :D

That, or we all get touring cars - but I can't really see that :)

will try get some more info about places / booking in on here soon

ashleyb4 27-11-2007 04:42 PM

HAHA lol they will realise what there missing when we drive over them.

Spencer Mulcahy 27-11-2007 04:53 PM

Hey Spence, it might not be ideal, but im guessing a postal order would be acceptable - it would translate the same as a cheque when they pay it in anyway.... post office give postal orders ;)

i felt spikes were better than pins and so did adam driving my car ;) spikes seemd easier and more progresive.

telboy 27-11-2007 09:14 PM

Adam was also running the oneway in his car and felt that marks car was better with the diff in it.
