Round 4 - Tamworth - 6th January 2008
|
Ooooh, crap.. Good point, I forgot to book in..... where's my cheque book
|
yeah I will look at coming to this one also - the track last time there was good - might be more of a challenge for my poor tamiya but should be a laugh & I'll see about mrs.oople coming this time:)
|
YAY! More Oople's to cheer on...
Go Vicky! Go Vicky! Go Vicky! Go Vicky! Go Vicky! Go Vicky! :p |
Vicky got a trophy from the last Tamworth event you guys entered didnt she?
Aiming for trophy number 2 no doubt! |
I sent off the entries today- bit late I know, this being christmas and all that.. not 100% sure they will get there before the week deadline, anyone I should 'inform' or give my entry details prior to the mailed entry actually turning up, just in case?
|
|
Whos coming with you Jimmy?
|
vicky, but we're going with john price who's already booked himself in like a good boy. :p
|
John is some kind of organised person for these micro meets.
|
Good good :)
You still piloting the Tamiya? Vicky gonna run her RC18T? |
Both running the Tamiya buggy chumps now. She still has the rc18T of course and I'll bring it as a backup :)
|
anyone got a spare 370 size motor I can borrow this weekend? one of the reasonably quick Tamiya black motors would be ideal.. I have one - but can't find it. It's for vickys GB02 tamiya mini frog. Its got the kit motor in it at the moment which is very very slow.:(
edit: oops, never mind! found it :) |

http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/tamwo...onational2008/ Little race report and photos now posted, thank you Jimmy! I can't take any credit for this one. |
Jimmy/Vicky,
You are legends :) Thanks for the great report and photos :) |
Great write-up and photos :D
One thing though, Lipos WERE allowed in Modified & Modified only :) |
oops, you are of course correct, I had it in my head from last time (the micro challenge thing) where I think they were banned? oops, I shall change that. :D
|
Yup your right, the previous Micro events have been Nihm only but this national series Lipos have been allowed in Modified, in the near future we may be seeing Lipos in pro-stock too :D
|
Is there much point having 2 classes or are the brushless still faster?
|
Brushed has actually been FASTER at every micro event as far as i remember, but that may be because generally the faster drivers are racing in Brushed (Craig, Stephan Davis etc). Also Cris Oxley has just won Modified running a BRUSHED motor & Lipos. The reason they arn't mixed is because by separating allows development in the Brushless technology & its a bit of a different driving style!
At the moment Brushed is actually allowed in Modified but in the near future it should be changing to Brushless only due to the facts stated. In the near future hopefully the classes wont be called 'Pro stock' and 'Modified' - It will just be Brushed & Brushless to stop the confusion & the current names arn't very accurate. Also Lipos will hopefully be allowed in both classes, this is all early days at the moment so we will have to wait and see  But hopefully the 2 classes will be - Brushed - 4WD - Nihms/Lipos Brushless - 4WD - Nihms/Lipos 2WD - Brushed/Brushless - Nihm/Lipo The reason that 2WD will be mixed is because its very early days for the 2WD being a separate class so by having a separate class further still for Brushed and Brushless would be diluting the class too soon. Hope that makes sense :) |
To follow on from Dans post..the reason we chose to seperate brushed and brushless is to give companies a reason to develop more exciting brushed and brushless motor systems for our cars.
My logic is that if you mix them together and one is clearly better than the other alot of big companies will not waste time on a market that is new and smaller than say 10th TC and Offroad where there is worldwide support and a huge amount of drivers :) However things may change at the EGM ;) |
Can i add one further thing, if you are interested in being part of the 2wd scene there is a poll running on the micro forum (not sure if i'm allowed to post a link to another forum so i wont at this stage) to gague the interest there will be for the 2wd class, so if you are planning to run 2wd at the UKMICROX event in march then please can you vote and add your name to the list.
Thanks |
Awesome write up Jimmy\Vicky. Pity there are no action shots of the Buggy Champ. At least the Froggy makes an appearance! :D
That's my car going arse over face in the banner  :D |
haha well done! :) I think you made it thru tho if that counts :)
It was a BIT dark in there - I thought it looked light when I first went in there but I was fooled. So I didn't really get that many. I'll be running 4wd next time but will keep the Tamtech and would be up for a 2wd class or tamtech class or whatever . |
