Racing - Sunday 6th Feb 2011
Hi,
Who's racing this week? I'm in again with the Durango :) (just maybe a change of ESC as I'm not keen on the Tekin power delivery). Could be tempted for a 2WD run, but err that needs work after Petit... Hope to see regulars and new racers at the track. If you haven't attended before PM me your race details. Also looking for a volunteers to step up and help with running the meeting to relieve SteveB and myself more. I enjoy running the meeting, but equally am there to race too.. So organising people, setting up and laptop stuff. Keep an eye on the weather - http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/11?area=SO31 Cheers, Mikey :) |
Having a weekend off RC and then depnding on weather may be getting some truggy setup time next week. Wish there were more days in the week as would love to be at torch too.
|
Working away for three weeks, not down again till the 27th. Gutted.
Got a hot bodies D4 to play with too...anyone driven one? Got it off ebay for £60, so if it isn't great then I haven't spent a fortune! |
i used to run one so may be able to offer the odd tip. TBH i didn't get on great with mine, but would be a good starter car at that price :)
|
Yeah seems ok, only quickly run it around a carpark. I have a cat sx as well so I bought it as a back up and more for messing around with. Keeping the options open. Will definitely talk to you about setups....found a starting point on the HB website.
|
Have look here http://www.petitrc.com/setup/hotbodi...CycloneD4.html
I always found that useful, have a look at the astro setups. May need to be a little softer as TORCH is quite bumpy still IMO, and it should be as off road :) I use to run LOSI springs on mine, pink rear and green front. |
i'll be there with the 2wd
|
Oh look, my post has been deleted:thumbdown:
Bloody hell Mike, have you not got a sense of humour? It's just bit of banter you sour git.:p |
I shall be racing-weather permitting think a few of us clanner's should be down. Please can we do a all dayer-not done one yet!:)
|
Lets hope we can plan an all day'er.
And not just one off the cuff, some people have got other plans for the afternoon/evening cos we know its just a morning meeting as normal. also with the number of rounds and number of finals, can we decide that at the beginning of the meetings and not near the end so people can charge up batteries etc etc ........ |
I'll be down for my first look at the new track.
Will bring a shop, tyres, spares etc. Let me know (PM, email, phone) if there's anything in particular you want bringing. |

As for an all day meeting, dates are being formed for the Summer Series and other possible events.. Summer events will be a set format (unless numbers are huge..) Those of us that run the meeting are busy outside of TORCH too, so not something we'll generally do at the drop of the hat. Maybe something once a month in the future, but remember we share our toilet facilities with the flying club and that'll restart in April I believe. I love my racing, but my plate gets fuller each week with work, TORCH stuff, my personal life and so forth... Just need to win the lottery, buy a cracking house and a nice bit of land for a track and paddocks... Mr L, I've had a crap week and sorry didn't need to come on to here for annoying comments. So apologies if I haven't got a sense of humour at the mo.. Some other TORCH people got the brunt of it on Wednesday night too, so apologies to them too. So apologies all round. As people who have raced and know me I'm generally pretty laid back. All be it I do get a lot of stick from Oople, I can't race anywhere without it being brought up... I'm all cool with it as lets face it it's helped get TORCH on the map! I think everywhere I've raced when people say hey your mikeyscott from Oople and TORCH... |
Apology accepted Mr Scott, although, I can tell you're not quite used to my piss taking nature, frequent users of other forums will know that I like to dish out/take a bit of banter/abuse:lol:.
So best just to take it on the chin (ooops, there I go again) pmsl:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: for the juvenile humour it really is. See you all sunday for a bash....sorry, I meant race. |

I missed all the fun too!
|
We still good to go for tomorrow? bit wet here:blush:
|
Yes if it's not chucking it down. Just get the wet setups out :)
4wd for me with the 410R :) Need to change the final diff seal tonight. |
Ok.. possible for someone who is close to give us a quick update on the weather? like-Its on-Stopped raining or so on? Would be really helpful.. as I know how bad the weather man can be
|
Whats the choice of tyres at present for 2wd. Was going to EPR but might have to change plans.
Also, is this an AM meeting? What's the start time and apprx finish? |
Quote:
Tyres ballistic pinks or greens with green Schumacher mini spikes would be my guess for a b4 in the damp etc. Steve will have tyres and be best person to advise. Also have a chat with Julian as he's a land rover nut. |
I've got Pink Rear Spikes but not the front, but I have a load of other tyres so it'll be suck it an see.
EPR is knocked on the head for me due to family stuff but the AM meeting will suit as dandy at present. Will still be a last minute decision but at least I'll be ready :woot: If booking in at 9, what about track open time? |

Most get there for 8
|
Track should be ok to practice from 08:30, maybe 08:00. Depends what help we get from members getting ready ;)
Aka putting marshal cones out and giving the track a tidy etc. |
Many thanks to those that attended today, race results are now online.
http://www.torchracing.org.uk/results/2011/index.htm Great battle with Lee throught the day again :D |
Yeah thanks to Everyone there today, that ran the meeting and raced. Was great fun even though the weather wasn't amazing! Still had a blast, and trying to give Steve a run for his money! Next time I hope! :)
Cheers guys! |
What setup did you have on your Durango? Were you running the weight kit?
Starting to like my Durango more with each run. What option parts you running? Changed the o rings on the diff? I'm on running a v3 7.5. Cheers to rob for the cometry. Roll on the all day meetings from spring!! |
Um.. well tbh it was a tad harder in the front than I would have liked as ran it at Taplow for the 1st time friday night.
Ran this setup: Minus Diff oils at taplow it was on rails http://www.team-durango.com/pdf/setu...n_16_01_11.pdf Same as above minus: Font Shocks Ghea 2 1.3 Rear Shocks Ghea 3 1.4 -Fitted last night Diffs Think 10-7 but not 100% sure on that one Front Alu Susp holder's TD Alu Skid plate Treseary Alu servo arm Atomic Carbon Tower's -Just preference Schumacher studs JConcepts balljoints Rest is stock R But yeah, would have probably gone to 35w in the front tbh- ran 35-30 last time I was down. |
Hi,
I'm running the ghea pistons and AC towers too. Need to order the servo saver, where did you order it from? 32.5 all round on mine, going to take the rear weight off as it's not helping with low traction. M Be nice for a few more rangos running :) |
Um M2D shop -it was instock when I ordered it -which is never.. and came about 5 days later. Costs a fortune, but worth it in the long run tbh. Yeah I find the skid helps keep the rear more planted.
|
Cheers :)
|
Ordered mine from here http://www.positivonegativo.com/tien...prod_2059.html
cheaper than other shop and took about a week |

Yes, its a tight fit, i'm not the neatest with my electrics but i shoe horned it in there, you will need a small receiver though, I use Sanwa's own DSS system.
Wish i was there today (dam work) |
Well done to all for a good days racing, weather was a little dull, but with Rob on the case with commentory during the finals, was much appreciated
Will be given it a mis next week as work I must. :( But an extra week to strip and rebuild all the cars I do have  Thanks to Jamie and Rob for some great racing  See you all in 2 weeks Steve |
Indeed, great racing :)
Shame I'm not fast enough for the A :( I won't be there either, wife's birthday! |
Whilst looking at the 4WD A final results last night I was reminded of this tune which is played regularly at the moment on Amazing Radio ---> http://amazingtunes.com/users/moon_v...es/tunes/43225 Click the green play icon to listen to it for free.
Had a great time yesterday - can't make next weekend, so see you all in a couple of weeks time  |
Great day, the damp didn't dampen our spirits. The track is AMAZINGLY clean when damp! ACE!
The track is great, it does need to be wider, the area is massive, so a 3m wide track will EASILY fit. TORCH has definitely got the potential to have a national standard track on it's hands! Same time next week? Yes please. And then a trip over the Clanfield to see the 8th boys in the afternoon. |
Re features and width there are plans.
Remember the guys did a stunning job get it back ready for racing. |
Sounds like I missed a good days racing!. Ordered some parts for my slipper and didn't and hasn't arrived yet. Hope to be up and running next week!
