Vega-Elite Mid-Motor conversion for the RB5

Team Xtreme - famous for their Predator line of cars have struck out in a new direction with a 'VEGA-ELITE' branded high quality mid-motor conversion for the Kyosho RB5 2WD buggy. All the work is done in-house, in the UK, by the team.

CNC machined aerospace 7075 alloy tub chassis, gearbox, motorplate heat sink, rear shock tower & with custom body shell, a stylish new 'cab-forward' design. The part number is 'VE-RB5', they are now live on the Team Xtreme web shop.

More conversions are in development, watch this space.

For more info visit the Tream Xtreme news page..... Vega Elite.

Team Xtreme:
Just released, the new series of Vega Elite 2WD race conversions for most major top-end race buggies. Featuring CNC machined aerospace 7075 alloy tub chassis & gearbox, motorplate heat sink, rear shock tower, bodyshell and more.
This exciting new conversion changes the weight distribution of the car, allowing it to jump more level & massively helps in-air control and powered landings.
Testing has shown the conversion gives a new more positive feel to the car, allowing for a more aggressive driving style. Flatter jumps, quicker landings and better cornering is bringing noticeably faster and consistent lap times.

I hate it when people advertise prices without VAT already added.

Prices are without vat as vat is not payable outside the E.U. Its the easiest way to have it on the website so as you enter your address it works out if you should pay vat or not.

goldy 15-01-2011 05:41 PM

plus how can you put an item to print then the vat rate changes, and like yanin says not all their customers will have to pay it.

MHeadling 15-01-2011 05:52 PM

That is one nice bit of kit! If it was on Top Gear's cool wall, it would be Sub Zero!

Good job to all involved!

How thick is the chassis where the gearbox mounts?
Do the two halves of the gearbox interlock? (cant quite see on the pic)

Really nice design. I like the simplicity of it. Very neat and tidy.

EddyStowaway 15-01-2011 07:37 PM

Looks very nice! does anybody know what springs they are on the Kyosho big Bores?

It's 3mm thick at the back of the chassis and the gearbox and motor mount are interlocked with machined in dowels. It really is a quality piece of engineering. I've had a number of crashes and bad landings in testing  with no issues.

the car in the pic doesnt have big bores

TEMsport 16-01-2011 02:48 PM

I was lucky enough to see a prototype of this and the quality of the cnc chassis and gearbox was to F1 standards!!

Just goes to show that british engineers can still top all forms of motorsport.

Lowie 16-01-2011 11:42 PM

looks brillant and I'm sure the quality will be excellent

but, ...

I'm sure it will not be easy to build or design a good working car ... but i don't see it as very unique when you build or design a mid-motored car, these days (after the X6, the cougar, the new durango 2WD-prototypes, the new Team Losi Racing 22 coming out soon ...,
after multiple RB5-midmotorkits that have prooved it to be a good concept, after such RB5-midmotor-kits having been designed, build AND produced by other people who have taken fiancial risks to produce such a kit.

Don't get me wrong. I'm quite sure this kit will be value for money and it wil certainly improve the easy of driving an RB5
... but saying that this is unique IMHO is like ignoring the people who have allready done so and I that doesn't give them the credit they deserve.

Sure, it's nice, and sure it is good looking, ... and offcourse the design will differ from allready existing kits, but I can see a LOT of similarities.
But maybe I see it wrongly and/or overlooking some things?
Please proove me I'm wrong.

looking at the pictures: isn't there included an extra idler gear + shaft for the gearbox?
You sure gonna need one extra if you want to build the kit

racingdwarf 17-01-2011 09:43 AM

Kit looks bling, but I have a shell to spray for one...and Oooo, only it's mother could love it, As for me it's not pritty:blush:
