NEW ORCA Brushless systems

Just bought a 8.5 ORCA brushless system today and raced it tonight, Just thought i would put some feed back up about it,

It was really smooth on power and has all the same top end power as well known brands

Has anyone else used these defo worth a try for £130 for a combo its miles better than anythink else on the market for that price.

I belive they do do a pro vesion going to look into it does any one know what the diffence is?

Thanks
Ben

I have looked at these too and am waiting to hear more. I believe John Spencer is running them.

chewie 12-11-2010 11:22 PM

Im debating getting one of these combo's but couldnt find any other info on them, im new to 1/10 and have bought a B4 just need combo now will either be an Ezrun 8.5T or one of these Orca combo's

benknight13 12-11-2010 11:27 PM

I have only run mine for one night but all i can say my friends have Ezrun and these seam so much more better than anythink around that price.

Bradley@BMM 12-11-2010 11:32 PM

What is it £130 for the brushless combo?

benknight13 13-11-2010 08:11 AM

Ye it is brad :D

AJ Roberts 13-11-2010 08:21 AM

How do they compare to the Fusion Exceed range, which are in my opinion the best value for money brushless combo on the market bar none

Whiskers 13-11-2010 08:31 AM

It looks like another rebranded Speed Passion system to me just like the ezruns.

If they are why waste your money, just get the EzRun version for less than half the price

RogerM 13-11-2010 10:15 AM

Is there a UK importer for the EzRun stuff?

If not then I will be trying one of these in my TC.

benknight13 13-11-2010 10:52 AM

I am 99.9% sure there is no one bringing Ezun into to the UK ( well not the
tc speedos)

From a back up service point off view these would be miles better than the ezuns you can buy off ebay if anythink goes wrong there is not you can do, With these you have all the support from Answer RC/Shops who bring them in. They dont look cheap like some others do they look the part i could not tell the diffence between these and my speed pasion.

Thanks
Ben

The Orca electrics are very good quality and the tunability is up there with the best.
I am running the Pro version's with the new motors and lipo's... got to say i am well impressed with the whole package.

After 3 years running Tekin i never thought i would find anything as good or maybe even slightly better. Only thing i am getting used to is size.. (similar to SP)

To be fair Mark Owen (chuckie stella) has been running them for a couple of months now and made the change from LRP.. with better results to boot.
Looking forward to working with Orca from now and building there reputation in the UK.. Answer RC have made a real coup with these and along with the Caster 10th he is slowly getting more and more into the off road scene.

If anyone has any questions then PM me or Chuckie stella and we can help you out.

Looking at these for 2011 potentially, got two speed passions and a Tekin at present.

Do like the plug system on the SP motors though

chewie 25-12-2010 04:18 PM

anymore updates on these are they any good and has anyone run the in a B4 or SC10?

mikeyscott 11-02-2011 04:56 PM

Do the orca ESCs need a capacitor soldered to it like the LRP, SP and Telkin units etc?

HarlowS 11-02-2011 04:58 PM

Yes unfortunately they do, its similar to the Novak ones i believe

Oh well I'll leave that then. It'll be my Tekin or Sp in my Durango. Tekin in there at the mo.

HarlowS 11-02-2011 05:05 PM

You would struggle to get the Orca in the Durango anyway, :eh?:

It's smaller than the SP and plenty using SPs

benknight13 11-02-2011 05:20 PM

I have just bought myself the pro vesion, It goes really nice and smothly comes with a set up card out the box, I have one car with speed pasion and one with ORCA System and i would even say the ORCA system feels more smoth to drive.

It is the same size as a Speed Passion so i would think it would fit.

Thanks
Ben

Just been speaking to Peter at Answer about giving the ORCA speedos and motors a try with a view to stocking them at rcLazy.com

I've been running LRPs Spheres in off road, and am looking for more smoothness.

simoncrabb 09-03-2011 11:09 AM

Got my ORCA speedo and motor today, looking forward to testing them at Moto Arena this weekend.

Let us know how it goes

tomtom 09-03-2011 11:36 AM

Bought the VTC, stick lipo and a 6.5T to put in my Cat SX and really like the
whole set.

Overall really smooth, easy to set up still with lots of options including turbo timing, turbo delay and such. Could be ridiculously fast with a bit of timing and turbo added, still with a selectable delay and ramp up it can be useful.

One other great thing is that temp stay low, even after 5mn runs with timing and geared 22/83, barely hot.

I'm not sponsored or anything but I will use this brand on my others cars for sure.

Tom

simoncrabb 09-03-2011 02:18 PM

It's wired up, loads of settings, I've not used one of these fancy turbo speedos before...

What sort of settings should I try with a 2wd, 8.5 motor?

tomtom 09-03-2011 04:06 PM

I've used the stock setting first, no turbo and punch at 7 then add some timing to understand how it change things but I don't think you will need it for a 8.5T.

For the turbo timing I try lowest first (around 30) with 4 turbo interval to smooth it up a bit, nice for a second gear simulation even if I'm barely able to use it on a track, it's already fast enough.

mikeyscott 24-04-2011 08:42 PM

After another hot run with my SP motors I believe it's the connectors that are playing up, so time for a change. Looking at ORCA motors and HPI. Will be sticking with my SP ESCs
