Carbon Chassis?

Does anybody know if anyone is making a carbon chassis for the DEX410?

telboy 01-09-2010 06:31 AM

There was one at the euro's, but not sure if its being put into production or not.
Looked nice.:)

The standard chassis is better than those carbon ones , why spend more to go slower........strange the lure of some black material and some glue ..i just dont get it:confused:
Carbon i think has had its day in offroad! IMO

Rebelrc 01-09-2010 07:37 AM

Sorry that last post seems a little grumpy:)...both those chassis look ace but i dont think personaly there would be a large market for them as the stock ali chassis is perfect for its job:)

There is no possible way you could know that, because there haven't been any carbon fiber chassis to compare the aluminum to. The defining difference in the two would be weight. These aren't 1/8th scale nitro buggies, so aluminum chassis are not that crucial—and aluminum CAN be tweaked.

Flex control would be something else that could be tuned with CF weaves, too.

But, boy, that carbon tub is damn sexy.

dlewis4 01-09-2010 07:36 PM

I would be all over a carbon chassis if they were released! They are just too sexy NOT to have one!

I think the carbon fibre chassis is home made by 2009 IFMAR Champ, Martin Achter.

Yes i've already had an aluminium chassis tweak. That's why I would like to try a carbon chassis. The aluminium bowed in the middle and I wouldn't have noticed it only that my centre drive shafts kept falling out and I tracked it down to the chassis.

Apex speed
How do you know theres been none to compare
the durango has been around in prototype form now for 6 years( i have the prototype)
And ali does not tweak! it bends!or at worst snaps or cracks
a tweaked chassis is a chassis that appears to be flat but bends inconsistantley either left to right or front to back due to a massive stress loading
not one that is bent so much the props fall out thats bent! (he says tweaking his empty beer can in his frustrated hand)lol:thumbsup:
if thats the case and everything thats bent is tweaked where the **** does the word bent come from and why do we use it?
you are wrong and anyone that says i am wrong is most definatley wrong:thumbdown:

Apex do you think i dont know about carbon/ali/rccars/manufacturing/chassis dynamics?

But anyway
Balls:D

Hahaha, ok. You're right, and you don't need a dictionary. Tweaked is not bent, and inside is outside. Keep drinking, you're still sober enough to type. ;)

Hello,

i am Martin Achter. perhaps a few of you know me.
I saw this thread about the carbon DEX410 chassis.
To clear things up, i am making this chassis for the Durango under my own company called 8-racing. The normal retail price is 69€.

The advantage of this chassis is that it has more flex than the alloy one.
This gives you more grip on less grip tracks. additionally it is 60g lighter than the stock one (120g stock, 60g carbon)
But you have to run it with the alloy sidebars, with the plastic sidbars from the 410R, it has to much flex and the driveshafts can jump out.

Let me know what you think!

Hey Martin, thanks for coming on and posting about it - I was most happy to let you know about this thread.

The product looks great! How does it compare to the alloy chassis with plastic side bars - IE the 410R?

Hi Martin,

Could you please send us your company site and details on how we can get one of this beautifull chasis??

Thanx

Martin Achter 08-09-2010 02:04 PM

Hi,

my company site is www.8-racing.de its only german at the moment.
I don't have much products at the moment, but a lot of intresting parts in the pipe like carbon shocktowers for different models and carbon chassis for 1/8th scale.

For international orders, you can order over my webshop or just write me an email. I think email is easier, cause the shop is just german at the moment. [email protected]

The Durango 410 with carbon chassis and alloy sidebars has pretty the same flex than the original 410R with alloy chassis and plastic sidebars.

Thanks Simon for letting me know about this thread

Thanx Martin for the information.

I must admit that carbon chasis looks very tempting.

This is the most beautiful single R/C car part I've ever seen. I mean, you must be over 18 to view the thing here in the US, that's downright pornographic.

the carbon chassis was arrived saturday in france,
very good quality , congratulation Martin
