Big G 19-08-2010 07:42 PM

early reports from tests at our club on high grip grass came out good. will be testing more my own shortly

MRD 19-08-2010 07:57 PM

There are pins too I think. I've got a set on order to try on polished floor .

Pops 19-08-2010 08:02 PM

One of the guys at our club ran the spikes on 2wd last week and said they were good...after 4, 5min qualis the rears were totally smooth! 50% carpet/polished

Hulk 19-08-2010 08:09 PM

Where can i get some from?

MRD 19-08-2010 08:13 PM

Theyre CML so most shops can get them in :).

paulc 19-08-2010 08:18 PM

How does the compound compare to schumacher yellows

phil c 19-08-2010 08:20 PM

and more importantly ARE they cheaper ?

spenner 19-08-2010 08:21 PM

totally smooth as in knackered/worn out/need replacing?

spenner 19-08-2010 08:28 PM

I have used the Turf Rippers at Silverstone's new track for 3 meetings.... and the spike is prob as big as the Schumachers when new... not the missing ones!!! And they are awesome round there Dry or wet!!!

cwp 20-08-2010 05:56 PM

I just got a set from Ross mods going to give them a go this weekend.

paulc 20-08-2010 06:27 PM

Is he going to be at keithley regional this weekend ? If he is i'll have a set for my 4wd

telboy 20-08-2010 07:25 PM

It'd be nice to see another tyre brought into the nats/regional choice range. CML ought to get them sent off to the BRCA for homlogation!

we don't Homologate tyres.

MRD 22-08-2010 06:21 PM

Ive run these today on my X6 at our Keighley track and they are spot on! Very good ware rate and fantastic grip even when the track got loose. Bought a set for my 4WD to try too but didn't get chance to give them a good run.

I'm trying them on polished floor on Friday so if they work the I think we're onto a winner .

its down to the individual clubs to nominate tires for an event. I doubt there will be anything this year now that will have them as a nominated tire. but i can see them havin more of a role next year.

jameswilkinson7 22-08-2010 07:12 PM

I ran these on grass today at Keighley regional.. Great grip, Very similar to Schumacher yellows.... Thumbs up from me so far.

paulc 22-08-2010 07:14 PM

Got some of these today but did'nt get to use them i think they feel slightly harder than Schumacher yellows

Tom3012 22-08-2010 07:26 PM

they seemed quite good when i ran them today at the regional, shame the quality control seems to be poor!

I had a new set and one felt slightly harder than the other, another chap had a set which were supposedly the same as mine but his were really hard and plasticy...

If they sort this out though, good times!

Yea, I must admit the ones I got on Saturday felt softer than the ones I bought today.

We had this same discussion a year or two ago about the GRP tyres. Everyone said they were great, everyone said we'll run them, blah blah blah!! Not a single national venue elected to run them and I've not seen a set since which is a shame.
I hope you're right on this one Mike as Schumacher have had a monopoly for far too long imo

Seriously!?!

That would explain the lack of tyres...

yer but unfortunatly there were several issues with using the grp, wear rate bein a major one. we at oswestry tested them, but they just werent that great on our track as the schumachers. and from a club point of view, you dont just pick a tire cos of its cost or to get it into the market, you choose it because of how well it proforms on your surface.

the other issue was the fact that there main factory went up in flames and they have not attempted to get back into the 1/10 tire market since

think i read somewhere that grp got brought by some chinese company, i know they got themselfs bac into the engine making business but not sure about the tires, it would have destroyed most of the moulds and things

its all in the link they stopped producing engines fully and are making tyres there still in italy

matdodd 23-08-2010 06:47 PM

I ran them at the Keighley regional on the 2wd and the wear rate seams good:thumbsup: I got about 45 mins of track time out of 1 set and they seamed to be a similar pace to schumacher yellows/greens which everyone else was running in my heat.
I think a slightly softer compound would be better for dusty grass though

Yes, totally stuffed!

Pops - yours lasted a whole 20mins?
Matdodd - yours lasted 45mins?
I usually get around 2 meetings to a set of schumacher's so I'll stick with Mat's tyres.

Me thinks pops is throttle happy...!

matdodd 24-08-2010 11:05 PM

Ye I ran a couple of packs practise 4 rounds and the final on the same set

jameswilkinson7 25-08-2010 08:37 AM

I ran B44 all day on fastrax and the x6 on schumacher yellows at Keighley. The Fastrax defiantly are worn less. I'm planning on trying them on shiny floor on Friday. That should show if they have similar grip.

mole2k 25-08-2010 10:14 AM

Has anybody ran these on polished wood yet, I would be interested to hear how they performed!
