yup pretty epic days racing. I'm so glad I stayed until the end, after failing to finish 4 heats. I managed a 4th place in the final, despite the cutting out I experienced as well as snapping a servo mount towards the end.
already ordered deans connectors, another lipo and alu servo mounts |
Johnny gibbon reckons I need to start smoking again before I have a heart attack or kill someone!!!!
Thanks to roger for giving up his Sunday to come and put up with us bunch of arseholes!!! Buds |

Will hopefully see some of you in denton on wednesday! Can i ask on some of the b4s they had some sexy looking shells anyone know which shells they are? |

Little Chris is the man to talk to about shells. Actually Rog the Race Controller does them too, and a few others, but most of the fancy shells are Little Chris's work
Lots of new faces today, lovely weather and a crappy radio. I really must get a better one. Mind you I do have a KO stick set, except Mark's got it so it probably never work again. Mark with a 1/8th will kill someone - ME! With the constant 'I can't get it to start', 'The brakes don't work' etc |
must agree with u all , had a great day today well worth the travel
didnt finish in the final due to broken shock tower lol. my son's day was also made when chris sold us his truck , cheers chap:thumbsup: great bunch of lads oh and sorry about the leg again rodger:blush: |

extended pleasure
Quote:
but 2 stroke is ok (5th scale) who else feels that 5 min is to short now we have brushless and lipo at the enduros we all run 10 min or more. at indoor nights 5 min works but when we got all sunday surely we could push it a bit how about 7 min qualifiers 9min finals the five rounds and a final works well to but how about extending the pleasure by a couple of min . its hardly gonna put loads of extra time on. 2 sets of batteries and were sorted what do you think boys are we moving with the times and technology or what . or do i need to buy a BIG car to satisfy my urges ps i fixed buds last night. digitally......... |
Id agree with this, as a first time 5 mins flew by! Id say 6 mins and a 10 min final to give you chance to catch up :D
|
nowt wrong with 1/8th...
looks like iv got meself a pit bitch then..from all that support for me racing/crashing 1/8th :D:D deffo agree again with gj about longer heats as the car are alot more advanced now and easy do 7min heats,i seem to always do better mid to end of the race and just as am in the grove its over...gets my vote ever time.We should do a test day for longer heats, |

eighth ????
No refunds from the tenth scale club;)
When the race controller is racing with NiCads there will be NO 7, 8 or nine minute racing. ......................On saying that I wish I could finish a five minute race without breaking something:mad: |

I killed a Novak in my BMax running 10 min stints at Keighley, and the X12 runs hotter! Besides, 10 mins racing is cool, but 10 mins marshalling
|
6 and 8 maybe....
or in truck class even 8ths and trucks will do that easy |
6 and 8 mins would be good, and for marshalling i dont mind it at all! But the marshalling for heat 1 was a real let down
|
With my extra lipo's on order. I dont have a problem marshalling an extra heat when we have 4. However I do agree heat 1 marshalling was very hit and miss. I really felt for the poor guy left upside down whilst a marshall took a leisurely stroll to sort it out. The lady at the end of the straight was pretty good though, she had her hands full during most of the heats  and although I have absolutely no problem with the youngsters marshalling, I feel they should be assigned the less hectic parts of the track when starting out.

Lots of complaints about marshalling this weekend, from most heats in fact. Heat 1 should have had the best marshals, being as how they were the heat 4 fast guys.
In practice however from the limited view I get from the cabin there were a couple of drivers I couldn't always see at their marshal points. I complained to one in particular, who claimed he wasn't coming 'because he was fixing his car' which is not considered a valid reason. I meant to get Rog to dock his time, but what with Rog driving in heat 1, and me in heat 2, then marshalling 3 I forgot. The result was that our 7 most inexperienced drivers had 5, and sometimes only 4 marshals out. I also think the tracks layout didn't help, with many crashes occurring some distance from the normal marshal points (especially in the centre of the track) and the fact that as the day went on people went home meant that some heats had less and less marshals. |

I agree the marshalling was terrible on Sunday every heat with out fail there was a point where I had to shout a Marshall to make them aware of where my car was ( my fault for rolling it I know) to be fair I did break 4 shock towers so that says something about my driving on Sunday. What we will do is have marshalling points set out with cones with a even spread around the track I am going to set these out after the timing gear. People will have to Marshall at these points or I feel a penalty will be incurred! Any complaints ???? |
itll be right. sort track out so its easyer to marshall. or stay on ya wheels....... .that is the aim of the game aint it. slow and steady wins the race boys
unless ya a super pro . then its quick and skillfully . but we aint in a final YET slow down and drive round is better than 20 marshalls any way is that a total no for longer heats or are you up for it. ill lend ya a lipo rog. |
marshalling

many comments were passed about that when your car was put back on its wheels either a couple of corners or sometimes one jump and it was on its roof again, plus it would help if all the components were installed correctly instead of hanging out of the bodyshell. not being picky mate just saying how it was on the day. a marshall from heat one. |

And what the heck was sticking out of the bodyshell? |

I try my best to be quick when marshalling though must admit I'm less inclined to be quick for a car that's flipped a doZen times already - only because it just dosnt make a difference to their result apologies as I left early on Sunday but my bro who works seven days a week got an early finish so I couldn't pass up the chance of a pint with him |
im with dave on this heat 1 was very hard to marshall as there was normaly about 10 crashes at the same time and once youd turned it over it was just full throttle and they where straight back over i know some of you have just started but its not our fault you have so many crashes we did our best to keep it going dave it was minkes car that every time it crashed the shell came of the battery fell out along with the speedo and everything else which took time to put back in and whilst i was doing that there where loads of other crashes so lads i suggest you get all your electrics fitted properly and any loose conections fixed we are supposed to be marshalls not mechanics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
I think Si's comment about marshalling sums up what im trying to say, tbh it wasnt me complaining on the day about the marshalling, as i was keeping the marshalls busy :D all gotta start somewhere!
So tell me what was sticking out of my shell? As i saw nothing at was running fine! Unlsess your talking about the last heat where i was towing a twig around with me :D Anyway next meet i should be better, just remember how it was for you guys on your first raceday |
Ah cheers matt he had me confused as my car stayed in one piece all day!
|
if you read my earlier post youl see i said it wasent you with all the electrics hanging out of your car
|
just remember how it was for you guys on your first raceday??????? youve lost me with that coment weve not conplained once about your driving or running all over the track sunday to turn youre cars over its YOU LOT winging about the marshaling
|
Hey im not complaining, i throughly enjoyed the day, im just reiterating what others were saying on the day, the only time the marshall didnt spot me was when i was in the bush out of sight which unfortunatly cost me 1st place but i dont care, only myself to blame :D
|
Actually Matt Dave did more complaining about marshaling than anyone else  .
But you did have a tough job marshaling heat 1 - 7 cars, at least half of which were totally random, only 5 of you most heats because someone only marshaled rounds 1 and 2, cars breaking etc. Unfortunately in a heat like that Daves comment about it being his fault when he crashed (far point Dave) isn't always true. Sometimes you can be trying really hard and a random white Macnum wipes you out :p . Anyway - easily solved. Lets do like Johnny said and set up marshal points with cones, where they are likely to be needed. In fact Matt, lets make that your job, since you tend to do more practice laps before each meeting than the rest of the grid put together - on your way round, identify the hazards and slap a marshal point as near as possible. And we can always break out the Hi-viz jackets for official marshals, so we don't have to rely on someones very helpful wife! Edit - actually we really should break out the Hi-viz. Might have helped Rog avoid getting legless! |
