Does anyone know of a 4wd independent suspension truck? Not a fan of the solid axle stuff at all.

not an h1, way out of my price range, and h2's, h3's are solid axle rear. I'm thinkin about fabbing my own susp. arms, getting some four foot long shocks, and lengthening the axles. I will hopefully end up with something like a 1/8 buggy with a truck body. And i just sent you a pm like 30 secs ago.

Toyota and mitsubushi are independent suspension if I remember rightly. But if you are going to jack the suspension, a solid axle is better and easier to do I would of though.... Maybe a Suzuki SJ410??

NO!!!!! it's like a crawler and a buggy, which is better at the track? and a buggy can be jacked almost as high as a crawler. i want independent susp. so i can make the tires go outside of the body to make it sit low, and still have massive ground clearance.

confused now, are we talking real or rc cars here......

Either way, if you use independent suspenion, the diff will need to be dropped the same drop as the wheels, otherwise you will get driveshaft issue's, thats why a solid axle is better.

if the wheels were on this car, the diff would be higher than the wheels, ehich is why independent susp. has better handling and center ground clearance than solid axle stuff.

thats just the droop, once the wheels are on and its on the floor the axels will be level

you use your wheels to give better ground clearance, just think of how much you are asking of a dogbone cup with high wheel articulation. A landrover has better articulation that a toyota landcruiser, as the axle can realy have limitless droop if the other side has plenty of up travel space.

and not gonna do any rock crawler stuff, gonna do stuff like a full scale rc track. jumps and all. Maybe a baja 500 or 1000.

on that car it's just to show my point. ground clearence sould be measured by the height of the diffs, not the center of the chassis where it doesn't matter.

I really don't understand where you are coming from, a rock crawler is totally different concept to a Baja.... for a start a rock crawler is 4wd4ws, baja is 2wd, engine hanging out the back

If its going to be raced then you want it capable of that kind of droop but set up low for the lowest CoG you can get away with, most modern day trucks are indp. susp. so take your pick, but fabbing up your own suspention to a small spaceframe chassis would yeild better results as you can then make it exactly how you want, maybe you should look at those 1500bhp things they race up hills in iceland and get some idea's off them :confused:

It says real car in the title so i assume its full scale, just using the 1/8th buggy to show what he means about wanting really big ride height measured from under the diff.

YES!!!!! i want it capable of rock crawling, but set up to race. Some baja things are set up like b4's, but most are 4wd. if you google baja 1000, the baja website shows pics of this type of car. full scale, nothing over 20 grand (us) so that means i'm just looking for a platform. Basically what i would be doing is (in rc so you understand) Taking a shaft drive touring car, and making it into a 4wd buggy. Longer arms, shocks, axles, and that's about it.

and i just recently found out that they do make full scale cvd's!!!!! i saw it in a crawler mag. would be used for the steering joints and the transfer case driveshafts.

right, well thats not a rock crawler, like I said before, baja and rock, totally different vehicles.

but if you wanted to, you could crawl with it.

but really i'm just wondering about truck names, not even looking to buy one from you guys. I just want to know the names of some ind. susp. 4wd trucks.

toyota land cruiser, Mitsubushi shogun, Diahatsu fourtrak.... thats the main ones, new Landrover Discoveries and Range Rovers too

Nissan Patrol GQ isn't a bad option. The gearboxes in them can handle 600bhp!

Only the new range rovers are Ind. Susp, the older ones are solid axle i believe.

but their all expensive.

buy one then!!

you can't, they are all custom built. and that's what i plan on doing.

So why dont you just make your own custom space frame chassis which would be cheaper and you would only need a doner car for things like shocks so you could sell the rest as spares :)
